“Great stay, amazing memories...”
Reviewed 9 October 2013 via mobile

This property is really nice. The location couldn't be better and the views are out of this world. The staff are very acomodating and eager to meet your needs. The free wine hour was very nice and gives you an opportunity to meet other guests. We used the pool and cabanas and never had issues with space. I recommend staying in a room poolside, second floor for best views. We had breakfast at the restaurant and it was very good. My only constructive criticism for the hotel is that the yoga classes are given in a tiny studio which was packed and unconfortable. I just don't understand why they don't give the classes in one of the meditation rooms which were always empty (not to mention that the views are much better there). Also, while they advertise the classes as Hatha yoga, they are really just novice Flow yoga sessions. Other than that, our stay was just perfect....

My wife (Julie) and I stayed here for our 21st anniversary. We have been to Sedona several times but never stayed here. Everyone at the hotel made sure that everything was taken care of for us. Julie and I left the hotel after breakfast the first morning to walk around and see the sights. When we returned to our room, we were surprised to fine a complimentary bottle of Champaign and a tray of chocolates and fruit along with a card from Daniel and Megan from the hotel staff, congratulating us on our anniversary. This is service way beyond the norm. We were extremely happy with the hotel, staff and everything they had to offer. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone wanting to come to Sedona to stay at the Amara Spa and Resort. You will greatly appreciate it.

We stayed here for two nights and was not disappointed one time. The bed was VERY comfortable. Clean rooms. The views are beautiful. We could not have asked for better service. All the workers were so friendly and easy to talk to. Wine hour was also a very big plus! We will definitely stay here when we come back!

We stayed 3 nights at the Amara just when they were being taken over by the Kimpton Hotel group. The staff at this hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. We had two wonderful meals here, and probably one of the best hamburgers I have ever had in the USA!!!

the hotel is small and kinda squashed in between two other properties, however it is not really overlooked, and the facilities are good and well kept. We would not hesitate to return to the Amara. We particularly liked the shuttle to the top of the hill - very welcome!

Sedona is a lovely town and we would love to return some day.

One quick tip..... there is not one single weighing scales in the hotel. When I enquired at the Spa the lady said, No sorry we don't have one, we keep getting asked that!!! If your guests keep asking you - THEN BUY ONE - duh!

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the pool, down by the river.

We had an excellent time in Sedona, and this hotel was a good fit for our needs. We basically wanted to eat, sleep, and hike, and that's what we did. The location, in Uptown Sedona, was perfect. It was a short drive to any of the popular hiking destinations. We had a large, 2nd-floor corner room, which overlooked the parking lot, rather than the courtyard, but it was very quiet. We did not miss having a view, as we did not spend any time in the room, except to sleep. And we slept extremely well! We didn't hear any outside noise at all. The bed was very comfortable, the shower worked well, and the room was clean. The staff also left a nice note with a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries for our anniversary. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant our first night. The food was very good, reasonably priced, and the service was excellent. The pool area is nice, but small. There are very few chairs, no music, no bar service and no attendants. We had to hunt for our own towels and wait for chairs to become available. We did not use the spa services. My husband tried to use the men's steam room, but it was out of order at the time. The valet staff was the best! The young men were very friendly and helpful. The only negative comment I have is that the young lady at the check-in desk seemed so indifferent to our arrival. She was not welcoming or helpful at all. Unfortunately, that was our first impression of the hotel. This was the 4th Kimpton hotel we have stayed at, and it did not have the same quirky, unique vibe that the others had. However, it suited our needs for this trip, and we have no reqrets about choosing it for our stay.

Room Tip: An upstairs room will be more quiet and provide a better view. Don't choose a room that faces t...

Newly under Kimpton management, the Amara sits along Oak Creek and our room had a balcony overlooking the slow moving stream. A breeze blowing leaves in the giant trees and hum of cicada lulled us to sleep. Sign up for free Yoga class to start your day off right and take a dip in the infinity pool. Walking around the grounds with our two friendly Fido's was relaxing and staff is very attentive to both human and canines alike. Grab a glass of wine and walk down to stake your claim on a large boulder on the bank of Oak Creek before dining at onsite restaurant, Hundred Rox. The view from the patio was awe-inspiring, try and make your reservation to coincide with the fabulous sunset. I am a big fan of the wedge salad. There is something about the chunk of lettuce and blue cheese that sets my palate for what the chef has in mind for our entrée. This particular wedge was dressed with slices of red onion, hold the bacon, and a house blue cheese I have been dreaming about ever since. Greg chose the filet mignon and said it was tender and perfect. That is saying a lot from the man who always and I mean always, sends back his steak at least once. Chef treated me to grilled shrimp and pasta and with a glass of wine from local winery, Page Springs Cellars, the meal was perfect. As luck would have it, I left my favorite pair of shores and blouse in the room and staff was very helpful in retrieving my items and shipping to my next location.

Room Tip: Kimpton has no breed, weight restrictions or pet fee. Be sure to call and let them know your pet(s...

Creek side view room was really picturesque, the restaurant was outstanding as well. One of my fave Kimptons as the surrounding area is special. Excellent service as usual. Morning yoga classes a nice plus as well as the spa across the way from the lobby. Highly recommend this Kimpton and def will return.
