“A perfect stay at a perfect hotel...”

How do you get to be the number one hotel for your area on TripAdvisor? Ask the wonderful folks who run the Adobe Grand Villas. From the moment we checked in to the moment we (grudgingly) departed, we had an exceptional stay. Our gorgeous and spacious room - Twin Kyotes - was an oasis, with a wonderful balcony overlooking the Red Rocks - a great place to sip our coffee each morning before going down to the pool area for our mouth-watering breakfast. What I loved most about the Villlas was the "little things". Every morning there was bread baking in our in-room bread maker, the wide variety of complimentary snacks and beverages were re-stocked each morning, there were delicious hors d'ouevres available in the lobby after 4pm each day (one day it was baked brie in puff pastry!), and aside from the epicurean side of things, a DVD library available 24 hours, a serene pool and hot tub, and genial hosts who appreciated your patronage. I have travelled the world over thanks to my job and I can honestly say I haven't had a more pleasurable stay anywhere else. While Sedona is not the top of my list for younger ppl to visit, I am certainly going to return thanks to the Adobe Grand Villas!

We are long time residents of Sedona who have often treated our steady stream of visitors to a breakfast or dinner at the Adobe Grand Villas.

The Adobe Grand Villas is always our first choice for an intimate, charming and fine dining experience. Service is impeccable. We’ve never been disappointed nor have our guests.

Jacqueline’s breakfasts are so special, our guests often ask for two of her entrees rather than having to limit their choice to just one.

Chef Michael’s dinners are exquisite. We believe his meals are the best in Sedona. From Sedona’s finest restaurants to the local hangouts, all have at one time or another disappointed, but never Michael.

We hosted a dinner at the Adobe Grand for 50 people. The appetizers were the best all of us ever had, and we’ve all eaten in some of the world’s best places. Most of the guests said their entire meal was the best they had ever had in Sedona or anywhere else for that matter.

It is hard to separate the food itself from the atmosphere, charm and comfort of the Adobe Grand, and yet after that first bite, all is pure taste delight.

I wanted to offer something extraordinary to my 18 year old son and decided to book the most expensive place in Sedona, (following the rule "You get what you pay for") - obviously they had only happy guests according to the 4.9 out of 5 "customer opinion rating" on Expedia.com. First we were impressed by the room, especially the bathroom with its own fireplace and whirlpool. The housekeeper had done a very nice job, we noticed many little details like decorated toilet paper, high end toilet articles, a welcome card with our name on the dining table. Later we noticed that none of the windows offered any views because our room faced a retaining wall. The room was dark and had the atmosphere of a cavern.

According to "Expedia.com" check in time was 2 pm and check out at 11 am but when we arrived, the room was not ready. We had to wait in the Lobby until 4 pm. The management did not offer any compensation and insisted that we should leave by 11 am. We believe that 11 am is pretty early for a check out time, I don't remember any other Hotel that would kick their guests out that early. Usually Hotels offer an extension if guests need more time. Not this one, they only provide an extension to their guests at check in when it is "sorry, your room is not ready...."

The "Three course full breakfast" (according to Expedia) consisted of a tasteless, greasy omelet, a glass with some watermelon pieces (from the can ?) and a glass of juice (probably Wal-Mart, definitely not fresh). No coffee was served. Instead we were told "If you want coffee, help yourself in the Lobby" This coffee (in a thermos can) was a joke, it tasted like dishwashing water, probably they used one spoon of instant coffee for one gallon of water.

I felt too embarrassed to complain at the hotel, since I had talked a lot to my son about how fantastic this place and especially the "three course gourmet breakfast" would be. We both did not finish our omelets and went somewhere else for breakfast. We will definitely not come back and won't recommend this place. Expedia so far has not published our opinion, even after submitting it several times.

We are a family of four, two children age 9 and 12. We stayed three nights in the Wagon Wheel villa, at the Adobe Grand Villas. Hard to descrbe in words. We all adored the place! The fireplace felt wonderful in the cool desert evenings. Every morning, we ate a delicious breakfast pool side. My spouse and I got up early, to read the paper and eat pool side, and the kids came down an hour or so later. my kids had a special order each morning, it seemed, and there were no complaints -- they whipped anything the kids wanted. Very helpful staff. Nice and patient. I'd say the Villas are more geared toward couples, and not families, but we did not feel out of place. There were other kids there when we stayed, as well as couples of all ages. Breakfasts not merely good -- truly outstanding. One special treat -- the villas have a small DVD library in the lobby (which feels like a family manor, more than a hotel lobby) -- each night after a long day out doors, we'd select a family movie and watch it, while all sitting in the HUGE covered wagon/king size bed. we'd eat the fresh baked bread, baked daily. It was some nice family quiet time, after a lot of activities, which we really enjoyed.

Having said all that, we are not great fans of the actual town of Sedona. Beautiful countryside around the town, but the town feels like the Wisconsin Dells -- t-shirt and bad restaurant trap. Too bad the city planners did not have a bit more foresight when Sedona got so 'hot" in the 1980s or so, but maybe they will get it right in the next few decades. Meanwhile, staying at gems such as the adobe grand villas made our trip quite lovely...we got out of the town of Sedona each day to hike and visit surrounding lovely national and state parks, so I'd recommend that aspect of Sedona (it's well located). If you are expecting an historic downtown, such as some of the older, victorian era quaint communities in parts of California, Sedona is not it.

We give Adobe Grand Villas a 100% thumbs up. It is expensive, but we felt it was worth it.

We spent one night in Adobe Grand Villas more by coincidence when we decided to stop over in Sedona, and we loved it.
This place really is something different. All the rooms appear to be different ( even though we only saw one more room other than the one we were staying in); with a very original decoration and lots of space. We also had a little garden, and it was absolutely perfect for us. Breakfast was wonderful, and the French lady that was cooking it was absolutely charming.
if you can live with the fact that you will need to take the the car to drive to downtown Sedona, and that this is indeed a bed and breakfast without the facilities that you would find in a resort, like a restaurant, a spa, etc, this is the perfect place to stay in Sedona.
We would definitely stay there again.

This is a beautiful, comfortable, unique place. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious. The decorating is exquisite. The beds are large and comfortable. It is very clean. The rooms have either a wonderful patio or balcony. The breakfasts are good and a few snacks are available during the day. The staff is friendly. Wireless internet included. It is a bit expensive but we really enjoyed.

We travel all over the World and found the Adobe Grand Villas to be one of our top five. People make any business and the staff at the Adobe are superior. We stayed two nights in the French Quarter. The staff took us on a tour of the other 17 rooms which are all unique. Steve completes each room in a different theme. None of the rooms are alike. Steve is completing the last double top secret room and we will be one of the first to stay in it!

Michael is the head chef and the food is divine. They allow access to the kitchen 27/7 and you can cook your own food late at night if you desire after a night out on the town.

The nightlife in Sedona is poor. We dinned and then went seeking live music and dancing. The Martini bar closed the live music at 10PM on a Saturday night. The Olde Sedona is across the street and more for the younger crowd but we had a great time. Not live music but the best Sedona has to offer.

Do NOT miss staying at the Adobe.
