“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 1 October 2008

We loved our stay at the SR! After reading the reviews on TA, with the pros more than outweighing the cons, we decided on staying here as opposed to the Hilton at Sedona. Glad we opted for the SR! Great location, with an attentive staff and a nice big room with all the amenities. We were initally concerned that our room was facing the street, rather than the redrocks, but the room was very well soundproofed. No outside noise whatesoever! Views would have been nice from the room, but we found that we did not spend much time there anyway and at the price we paid (50% OFF), was a very good bargain and a worthwhile tradeoff.

We celebrated a special occassion and were pleasantly surpised one night by a bottle of Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! Very nice of the hotel!

Bed was comfortable, free Wi-fi/Lan connection, nice bathroom/shower, great toiletries, HDTV. One other nice thing, the hotel is across the street from Safeway for incidentals/snacks.

Great hotel. Very comfortable bed, very clean, good room service and friendly & attentive staff. Very good food at the restaurant, but Sunday & Monday, only pub menu. Good location.

We loved this beautiful hotel but had the misfortune of being there while a family was celebrating a 60th Birthday party. They were very loud and in the courtyard after midnight partying and disturbing guests. Management could not have been more accomodating and gracious. Lee (the assistant mgr) was a star in resolving the matter. We were so satisfied with the resolution and the kindness of the staff that we returned one week later on our way home. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed. The beds are wonderful and the overall feeling is that of a peaceful spa.The location is just far enough out of town to make it quiet and yet close to all sights. I would say however that the restaurant Red's does need some improvement.

We stayed here for a couple of nights during our visit to Sedona. I would rate the hotel as very good but not fabulous. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Stayed here for two nights with our two children. The room was very spacious and beautifully decorated with a vaulted ceiling and lovely view of the Red Rocks from the balcony. The furnishings and fixtures were all new and very modern (huge flatscreen TV). The showers are immense. The beds were the most comfortable we encoutered on our recent trip. Having stayed at this hotel before we were greeted with a huge tray of fresh fruit and bottled water that was most welcome after the drive from Phoenix. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The hotel is centrally located in Sedona, close to restaurants, shopping and the Safeway (next door). We used the hotel as out base of action for a trip to the Grand Canyon (a 2 hour drive away).

We stayed at the Sedona Rouge for three nights in August. Located slightly out of town in West Sedona it is still ideally situated for shopping, restaurants, hiking etc.
Our room, which was located on the ground floor, was clean and very well appointed. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower and a bath. Bath robes were provided and there was a plentiful supply of towels and toiletries. Our only slight complaint was that the air conditioning was a little on the noisy side.
Reds restaurant and bar were a delight. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Service was quick and efficient. Dinner and breakfast menus were reasonably priced and the quality was excellent. The wine list was very reasonable and the classic Margaritas were some of the best sampled on our holiday in Arizona.
Reception sells a very useful guide to local walks that are suitable for all levels of ability. We found it informative and easy to follow. Staff were able to book a Jeep Tour and arrange a hotel pick up and drop off so avoiding having to negotiate the very busy town.

Stayed here for two nights July 30-31, 2008 with a friend and my dog. 100% pleased with room, dining (breakfast, appetizers at pool, and dinner on arrival night), and spa services (had a great 90 minute deep tissue massage). Rooms are different from standard hotel fare and have excellent beds and linens. We had a semi-private courtyard that felt private since we never saw anyone else outside during our stay. Housekeeping was great--no complaints at all. The shower is odd, no question. I'm not sure why the builders wanted to put a tub with a shower NEXT to it, and there really isn't a way to take a shower without getting water on the bathroom floor, but we got a great summer rate, the soap is every bit as good as other reviewers have said, and the hotel was quiet and elegant. The pool is very small, but it was uncrowded during the 105 degree heat, so that wasn't a problem for us. Location is not scenic--on busy highway 89A and as others have said next door to Safeway and strip center, but once you are inside the hotel it really is an oasis. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

  • Liked — decor, food at Red's
  • Disliked — location is not perfect--a bit far away from uptown Sedona
