You will not be disappointed in this motel. The rooms had that southwestern feel with fire place, robes and balcony, the views from 2nd floor are breathtaking and the price is right. Also, the location was great. I loved the town but would not have wanted to stay there. This is a nice quiet and convenient location.
My only complaint was the light was not fixed in our room and when I called inquiring about an iron and ironing board I was told it was in the lobby. I wasn't sure at that point if I was suppose to bring my clothing there as no option was provided.
All that put aside I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Stayed: October 2013

Spent 3 nights in Sedona (2nd visit) and wanted a clean & convenient location that was reasonably priced. This fit the bill nicely. It isn't the Hyatt but location was good and the beds were comfortable. It was clean and we could park right outside the room. The wifi was tough and not Mac-friendly. Finally got it working dependably the second day. Breakfast was awful and the coffee was cold at their complimentary breakfast. The morning desk gal wasn't great, a little self-occupied. The night guy (newer guy) was really helpful and gave us great restaurant recommendations and also got us going with the Pink Jeep tours we took. (and got us a discount) Overall, good solid place to stay and a good value for what can be a pretty expensive area.

Needing 2-3 nite stays weekly for husband's cancer treatment at Sedona's nearby Med.Center, I looked for casual, affordable accommodations. A regular TA poster, I was not deterred by a few "so-so's, nothing special" comments among glowing reviews about this small, attractive inn with "upscale" amenities. I almost hesitated to praise this "find" too highly & risk not finding future availability, as we definitely will return.

At first sight, the hotel's exterior in straight, Santa Fe pueblo lines, complemented by squared-off, well-kept desert-landscaped oases for sitting & rock-reflecting, projected a message of basic simplicity. OK, basic was what we wanted. But, inside, we found basic-PLUS. That is, PLUS a subtle touch of class & bit of charm reflecting the unique taste of keepers-of-the-inn Cindy & Craig. Bright rooms (we had a 2-room suite), warm paint colors, tasteful SW wall-hung prints, homey Kiva fireplace, spliit-log ceiling & other Santa Fe touches that imparted to us a sense of cozy, healing serenity.

Nothing ordinary about the amenities for this non-resort hotel & no cookie-cutter blandness here. Just little extra touches that, after 4 wks made us feel at-home. Oversized bathroom with 2 sinks was supplied with thick, soft, fluffy towels (USA label!) and "Sicilian citrus-scented" bath products (nice touch). Hot water almost instantly & plenty of it. Plump, pure white, cloud-like comforter, bed linens, large, plump decorator pillows (& sleep pillows, too) atop the most comfy, cloud-like mattress I've slept on anywhere.

Consistent, efficient maid service was evident, excellent & spotless. Fridge was nice for hubby's medical "smoothies." MW would have been helpful, but we used the breakfast room's MW a few times. Our 2nd floor balcony afforded a great view of Thunder Mountain (I call it "my" mountain for the serenity it gives me) & nearby red rocks, where we watched the rays of both sunrise & sunset play on those magnificent fock formations. Great place to enjoy your take-out lunch or supper.

We loved the cheerful breakfast room with patio. I don't understand how anyone could call the complimentary b'fast "bare bones, nothing special" unless they expected bacon, omelets & other grill foods. Otherwise, items listed in previous TA reviews here say it all -- something for everyone -- and another PLUS: Nancy's homemade bean burrito with sour cream, salsa, cheese -- a meal in itself. A small minus: we wished b'fast was available earlier than 7:30.

Erika & Nick have a wonderful, can-do manner & were always eager to provide info about the area. One surprise after a particularly bad radiation treatment, Erika sent a bottle of sparkling apple cider in an ice bucket & 2 wine glasses--so festive, so thoughtful! Two computers (free) available, but only between 7:30 am & 9pm, when b'fast room closes. Fitness room has 3 "basics" - treadmill (a bit old & tired but functional), nice recumbent bike & elliptical.

Several great eateries nearby (book is in the lobby). One of our favorites: Judi's, at Soldier Pass Rd. Charming, intimate little rooms, great menu items. Ask to sit by the fireplace. Another: Heartline Cafe -- our preference for lunch, not dinner.

If available, best views are upstairs & worth the extra cost. All in all, a wonderful find, great value for our needs. We'll be back--hopefully under healthier circumstances.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, ask for room farther away from the road (or, ear plugs help).

Quiet room, not fancy but all a traveler's wants are nicely met. Charming and sunny breakfast room. Nice people. About three miles from downtown, something we consider a plus. Would certainly stay there again.

After an accommodation disappointment, we followed the suggestions of our Tripadvisor friends and chose the Southwest Inn at Sedona. We spent 3 very happy nights (10/17-10/20) in room 222, loving the decor, bedding, bathrobes, gas kiva fireplace, bathroom amenities, and quiet.
The room was super-clean, the shower pressure strong, and the room smelled fresh. We have stayed at many more expensive places that lacked the aforementioned attention to detail.

The staff was friendly and very accommodating with requests of all kinds. The breakfast room was cheery and SW comfortable with a menu that had someone for everyone. Cereal, homemade musli, yogurt, toast, hardboiled eggs, breakfast burritos, and make-your-own waffles.

While "down the road a piece", it was a short ride to uptown Sedona. Route 89a is full of dining options and across the street is Relics, restaurant and bar that has an interesting history, including being a watering hole for famous movie stars of the Western era. We also had a really good dining experience at the Barking Frog.

While it has limited views of the red rocks, it is worth the comfort and value to sacrifice what you can easily see in a few minutes' drive.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a second floor room for the better view and a quieter experience. If you have ph...

We arrived a bit before the check-in time but Nick, at the front desk, was friendly and so helpful with answering our questions about the area that we didn't mind the wait at all. The room was clean, spacious and welcoming. The fireplace was especially nice since the evenings were cool at this time of year. The robes in the room were an especially nice amenity. The included breakfast was nicely presented and the breakfast area is bright and welcoming. We liked that the SWI is located a bit outside of town. It was very quiet and relaxing. It's only a short drive to some wonderful dining, shopping and excursions. Nick suggested Judi's restaurant for casual relaxed dining and ribs and Dah Deluca for a bit more upscale Italian. We took both suggestions and were completely thrilled with both meals. Only one very small suggestion, I had asked to have something special delivered to our room as a surprise for my husband for our anniversary. Sparkling cider - platter of cookies - something of that nature. Nick, being new to the inn, wasn't sure but thought they could come up with something. Nothing was ever delivered to our room. That was a bit of a disappointment but I have to take some responsibility for not checking back to be sure it could be done. So, just a note - if you request something of this nature, be sure to check with the staff to ensure they can accommodate your request. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at SWI again.

Room Tip: Second floor is a better view
