This is a sweet find in a tourist town. Clean, knowledgeable and caring staff, great rates and all the amenities needed. Housekeeping does an excellent job! Pool and spa add to it. Lovely alternative to high priced formula hotels. We will be back.

The room was very nice and comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly. I'm very picky and the cleanliness of the room and comfort of the beds was outstanding. I have to agree with the reviews that say not to bother with the breakfast, though. Instead, go to the Coffee Pot Restaurant for breakfast; you'll be glad you did.

The Southwest Inn is a great little spot. Friendly staff, nice location and spectacular views from the room. A great value, especially when compared to other hotels. About five minutes from Uptown Sedona so it is conveniently located.

Nice little hotel on a main road in Sedona. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable; they helped us choose a restaurant and can make reservations for a pink jeep tour. The free breakfast is nice and includes cereal, waffles, toast, hard boiled eggs and the like. Note that the pool is nice but small and is separate from the jacuzzi. The place was clean and quiet -- while it is not the fanciest hotel around, it is a great value and a nice place to stay. We'll be back the next time that we are in town.

The Southwest Inn is an interesting place that appears to be trying to transition from an older property to a “boutique” hotel, with mixed results. This is definitely not a cookie cutter franchise hotel, and the rooms are clean and spacious with an updated bathroom, fluffy bath towels, and a gas fireplace with a timer (really neat in winter, but not worth much in August) and a good, strong WiFi signal. There is a small pool but the water was apparently really cold, as the only people we saw who tried to swim were kids, and they didn’t last long. There was also a spa between buildings, and if you had a second floor room, there was an attractive walkway in the rear of the hotel that leads to the rooms. Be advised that there is no elevator to these rooms, however, and you must negotiate several flights of steps to reach your room. I am blessed to have good mobility, but schlepping my 50# suitcase up those stairs wasn’t much fun and could be a major issue for some. (Yes, yes, I know, why am I packing so much? We were staying in Sedona for a total of 9 days, and didn’t want to pay the airline bag charges on more than one bag, so we crammed everything we could into one big bag. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.) Once in the room, the carpeting gives clues to the age of the hotel and the wall mounted air conditioning unit blew cold air on whichever bed you slept in. Plus, the kicking in and out of the compressor during the night made for a restless sleep. Also, the views are not the spectacular red rock vistas that you are sort of led to believe from the website descriptions. If you have a ground level unit, you will be looking directly onto the parking lot and all the people walking by. Even if you get a more expensive, second level unit at the northern end of the building, as we did, your view of Thunder Mountain is cluttered by telephone lines and poles in the foreground. The breakfast was standard hotel self-serve fare, augmented only by their custom burritos, which were OK but nothing special. So in summary, this was a pleasant place to stay, in a good location with a friendly staff at a mid-range price (for Sedona!). It was certainly better than your typical chain hotel/motel, but I wouldn’t say it has quite arrived at the “boutique” status it aims for.

Room Tip: Don't get a ground level unit is you are looking for a red rocks view.
