“great place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2009

We had a spacious room with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub. Nice amenities and extremely clean room. Staff was very helpful. The breakfast room had great views, and although the usual fare (cereal, waffles, eggs, fruit, yogurt, etc) they used colorful fiesta dishes--nice touch. There was even live flute music one morning. Location near red rock crossing was great. Nice bookstore and deli next door. One minor annoyance was the noise from a neighboring room's plumbing, but that is not enough to prevent us from returning.

This is such a fabulous little boutique hotel - the staff were wonderful. I have nothing but good things to say. I was travelling with my family (March 12 to March 19) and I found this hotel through trip advisor and Fodors. I would go again - no hesitation. To the owners of this wonderful hotel - please don't change a thing - I found the staff very helpful, friendly, and caring. All staff were consistent in this. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. My kids loved the breakfast nook - all self serve and waffles were a huge hit. The lady who runs the breakfast room is lovely. Someone mentioned that they thought the hotel was too close to the main road - yes this is true but it's very convenient - so not a negative at all. Upper Sedona is under quite a bit of construction at present and the main shopping zone is quite busy so I appreciated the fact that we could get in and out easily.

My husband and I stayed four nights there, and we both rate it highly in every aspect. The staff were welcoming and helpful in recommending restaurants, hikes, etc., the breakfast room was cheerful with a variety of choices and the newspaper, the rooms were clean, comfortable and attractive, and the location in relation to the town and various sites was excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed in two different rooms, one on the second floor (more expensive) and one on the first floor. The staff was very accomodating when I asked to stay in the less expensive room my last night, and even arranged to have my suitcase moved to the new room.

The first thing you notice on walking into the rooms is the charming Southwest decor, which is very tastefully done; also a recording of regional flute music on the radio. The bathrooms are attractive and clean.

There was some concern about reviews that mentioned being right on the highway. Our group did not find that to be any kind of problem. For one thing, virtually all the hotels in Sedona are on the highway because of the nature of the topography. Also, if you have any kind of fan on in the room, you don't hear the sound of traffic at all. But even with the fans off, it's not really that noticeable unless you're very fussy. The second floor rooms are a little better insulated sound-wise. Also the views are better. However, the first floor room was just as comfortable and attractive as the second floor room was. In some ways I liked the first floor layout, esp. the bathroom, better.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is pleasant and the offerings good. The business center (just off the breakfast room) three computer terminals. There's also an outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub.

Very close by are wonderful walking trails, including the Boynton Canyon Trail, which is a relatively easy hike. Boynton Canyon is purported to be the site of one of the energy vortexes in the area. You'll need a Red Rocks pass, $5.00 for the day, which can be purchased at the front desk of the hotel.

One caveat: if you need handicap accessability, this may not be the place to stay. The breakfast room and business center are on the second floor and the second floor rooms are walk-up only, I believe.

Overall, a fine hotel and good value!

The rooms have a definite Southwestern flair- colourful, kind of fun, and we loved the gas fireplace. Outdoor spa was nice, but outdoor swimming pool wasn't heated- too bad. Breakfast was iincluded and was very good. We got excellent help with planning outings in the area. The inn is located away from the main tourist strip, which is nice. But it is very close to the highway, so the view from your balcony is pretty but not quiet. No problems sleeping however. We only wish we could have had a room on the second floor, and one with a sofa bed. But we'll visit here again.

My husband and I just stayed at the Southwest Inn and absolutely loved it. The rate we got was phenominal for Sedona, half the going rate at other hotels. We checked in and our room was ready on time. We had a wonderful king room with a spa tub, fire place and small patio. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. For a small hotel they had a full concierge who helped us choose a place to have dinner and booked our reservation. They had menus from several local restaurants for you to browse. They also offered us suggestions for things to do on our next day and gave us maps of the area to help us around. In our conversation she asked us if we liked wine and suggested the wineries along Page Springs road (just a few minutes away from Sedona). She also asked us if we brought along wine and offered us wine glasses to take to the room! Awesome customer service. Everytime we went into the front office they were friendly and helpful. They serve a nice breakfast in the mornings, juices, cereals, muffins, waffles, eggs, potatos, sausage. We used their wireless internet, free, no charge and they also have a nice little computer room for guest's use. There is a small gym for those that want to get in a little cardio and a hot tub and swimming pool too.

Our room was clean and had a small refrigerator and 2 complimentary bottles of water. The bed was comfortable with nice white linens. They had bath robes in the room.

I can't say enough about the quality of accomodations and the value of this little gem of a hotel. I would whole-heartedly recommend this place to friends, family and trip advisor travelors :)

Jill

This hotel was great. We would definitely come back. The fireplace in the room gave a very cozy feeling on a chilly night. The beds were very comfortable with pillow-top mattresses. There were even 2 luggage holders for both of our suitcases. Front desk staff was extremely accomodating and friendly. She even booked the helicopter ride for us (which was fantastic!) The breakfast is exceptional with a wide variety of hot and cold food.

  • Liked — Friendliness of staff
  • Disliked — steps to climb to get to room
