We arrived on Saturday and had booked for a full week while visiting friends in the area. The breakfast supplies had run out by Monday. On Wednesday I called the owners' emergency number to report this and was told they would get a new food supply on Friday. So we paid for a lot of nonexistent breakfasts.

Comfortable and nice furniture in the Great Room. Old and uncomfortable furniture (especially chairs) in our room. Handicapped shower did not have a shower chair. Woke up to "no water" after the first night--explained as a problem with the pump system. Had to routinely request clean towels, toilet paper, etc. or they were not supplied. Of course, the fact that the proprietors were not on the property most of the time was a big problem! Had to communicate with them by notes or phone calls unless guests happened to be in the building during their very limited hours. We rarely were because we were out during the daytime hours.

Guests had to "lock up" the building at the end of each evening. Ridiculous service for the price charged. Would never stay again even though we would have to drive another 20-30 miles to find another motel.

Four of us spent a couple of days in the wine country and stayed here because the location was central to several winery's. It's a very nice building and the room we had was very large perhaps because it was handicapped accessible. The bed was comfortable with fitted sheets and that's a huge plus for me. The towels could use replacing but that's not a big deal. The air conditioner is very old and very noisy and could probably use a new filter too. There is an open area in the center of the inn with a fireplace and couches for having a glass of wine and meeting the other guests. They have a serve yourself breakfast available and a machine for coffee and hot water all day. Selene is a lovely young women with a great smile, the perfect hostess/manager. We'd go back there again if we were in the area. They also own a steakhouse next door, avoid that at all costs. It's expensive and not very good.

Room Tip: I'd take a room on the back of the building, there are no screens and if you need to leave the w...

The location is great and the building very handsome, but arriving on a cold and rainy day only to discover that one of our rooms had no heat was very disappointing. It would have been OK, but the only solution was to use a space heater - that also did not work. Although the building itself is beautiful (i.e. huge rock fireplace in the great room, lots of wood, massive and beautiful chandeliers), there was little attention to detail. For example, no fire in the fireplace nor any wood to build one, no air dryer in the room, no fresh towels for the second day of our stay, etc. Given these issues, it was "unhandy" not having staff on property except for about 3 hours in the late afternoon. On the good side, the bed was comfortable, TV was great and we had a nice view from our room.

Most of our family stayed at this Inn. The rooms were spacious and clean. Loved the set up, felt like we were at home. Enjoyed the open dining area and sititng area. Selene was wonderful. The only odd thing was our room was not made up when we arrived (looked like whoever was doing it just didn't finish the work that day!) so Selene the manager did it for us. The view from our room was breathtaking. This place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere but there was restaurants in walking distance and a general store. If you are a walker it is difficult due to the lack of shoulder on the roads... Would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: Ironing Board is available on first floor as well as hair dryers.

Ever since we purchased a parcel in Arizona’s wine country a number of years ago we have spent numerous nights at the Sonoita Inn in Sonoita. This is where we do the planning for our future home and most certainly it is a great lodge. I guess you would call it a bed and breakfast, although I tend to avoid their complimentary continental breakfast while my wife sleeps in. I go to nearby Patagonia for a nice hot breakfast at the Home Plate, although my wife is always happy with the Sonoita Inn breakfast (once she awakes).

The Sonoita Inn is very comfortable, well-managed, with spotlessly clean rooms. We sleep very well. The complimentary wireless and cable television is nice, but nothing like opening the windows on a lazy day and just reading a good book….or in the Fall, watching football.

We have also stayed there with large groups of friends for wine tours during the day. Always fun. Really a great place to stay!

We stay here every year when attending a clinic at a local ranch. If you need interaction with the staff, this isn't the place for you. They leave between 3-5 in the afternoon and don't show up til late morning. The beds are comfortable, the steakhouse next door is a good place to have dinner, a beer and shoot some pool. A variety of food is available for breakfast. Great place to stay!

I stayed at the Sonoita Inn last weekend and visited the AZ Wine Country. The Sonoita Inn doesn't look like more than a big barn on the outside, but is very quaint and nice on the inside. The theme of the hotel is completely southwestern, including many wall hangings and artifacts from the horse, Secretariat. The main lobby has a nice seating area and fireplace, wood floors, high wood beam ceilings and the rooms are decorated the same. Our beds were comfortable and clean, amenities include full satellite TV, a wine happy hour, and continental breakfast. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. Next door to the property is the restaurant, the Steak Out - great, great steaks. Very western and laid back - also pretty busy.

The only downside to staying at this property is the difficulty of making contact when trying to reserve a room or while staying on the property. After 5, the hotel does not have onsite staff. Given the location and the relatively small size of the property, I wasn't bothered by this, but other travelers might not be comfortable.

Another down side was we did not have hot water in the AM - I believe it was a fluke - but that was not a bright spot during our stay.

I would definitely stay again at this property - I enjoyed the atmosphere, especially after a day of touring the different vineyards in the area.

Room Tip: Downstairs if you are planning on touring the vineyards all day.
