“More pros than cons, but could be improved.”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

Although the pros outweighed the cons, and we would stay here again, there is certainly room for improvement.

Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Towels were plush. Bed was comfortable. Restaurant across the street had good food. Motel was quiet. Pillows were comfy. Lots of hot water and great water pressure in the shower. Carpet seemed fairly new and clean. Mini fridge and microwave were functional.

Cons: Furniture was old and worn. Bed comforter had rips and stains. Curtains had seen better days--were hanging askew and would not close. Sink had no stopper and was heavily stained. Very little water pressure in the sink.

Thank you for your honest review. We appreciate your comments and apologize that we were unable to post timely responses for a couple of months. We are glad that you found so much to like about our family run motor lodge. We are proud of our cleaning team and the comfort of the rooms we offer. We know there are still things we need to do, but the economy the last couple of years has slowed us down. We are happy to let you know that as we can afford it, we are replacing curtains and changing out our older bedspreads for new, easily washable top sheets that many folks seem to prefer. We are so sorry about the sink problems you experienced. Thank you for reporting them so we could correct them.. We will look forward to your next visit with us.

Can't imagine anyone giving an even average rating for this property. The bed skirts, curtains and carpet our room were dirty and worn out. Chairs in the room showed large stains. Bathroom tile was stained and dirty. No bathroom vent or heat and the floor in the bathroom area shows evidence that the floor is sinking. Towels were old. Crumbling concrete and sagging stairs show more evidence of structural degradation. Much of the parking is not paved.

The TV, toilet and sink faucet were relatively new and worked properly. Mini fridge and microwave appeared to be fairly new. Front desk and other personnel were courteous. Sorry to say, we would not stay again regardless of price.

Nice enough motel and a very large gallery of western motif artwork. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and it was very quiet. The internet connection was spotty. The guy at the desk said they had problems with the signal repeaters. The place is older and the plumbing is a bit weak.

Here's the deal. Reed's lodge is a simple one, maybe two star hotel. Not what I would usually check into. But it doesn't get any better in a remote location like Springerville.

The place is run by a family I know and the hotel is located about 100 yards from my family home. Needless to say it's where you stay when you visit family.

We recently spent another week in Springerville due to a death in the family, and Roxanne and her staff made sure we got our 'usual' room, the baby crib was ready and they were flexible with our reservation as we didn't know when we'd leave.

They have different room categories and even the most expensive suite isn't more than 90 USD/night, and it sleeps up to eight people. That's a good deal. There's coffee in the morning and a game room (I've never used it, as I normally have things to do with my family.)

The room is cleaned daily and new towels are always finding their way into the room, and there's a fridge and micro available. Great when you travel with kids. This isn't a Hilton, and what you see is what you get. At this price, it's a great place.

Room Tip: We usually opt for the newer "Ponderosa" rooms in the back. It's more quiet, away from...

We booked two rooms with connecting doors in the older section of Reed’s Lodge several months prior to our arrival. But when we appeared we found Roxanne busy at her computer trying to solve a problem: the occupant of one of the rooms assigned to us had decided not to leave. Her solution was to give us rooms in the newer section at the agreed-upon rate! The rooms were great for the price. We would suggest, however, that the carpets are beyond their useful life.

We stayed for six days during which we visited Kinishba Ruins on the White Mountain Apache reservation, Casa Malpais, and even drove to the Petrified Forest National Park. We’ll have to come back to see more that the Springerville area has to offer. And when we do, we’ll stay at Reeds Lodge.

We made this an overnight stop after leaving Sierra Vista late and driving the slow, scenic Hwy 191 north. The hotel was almost full; as there is a new power plant being built and the motel is full of the construction crew. My husband loves older motels and this one is great choice.
We were advised parking can be a problem as some rooms are shared by workers who each have a truck. We did not have any problems finding a space. Not all the rooms have door front parking and we had a room in the back with a green area in front of it. It was quiet- no slamming car doors or diesel engines in the night.
The room was clean, towels soft, not scratchy and water heated up quickly. Internet was slow but worked and staff's suggestions of trying the Booga Red's restaurant (which gives motel guests a discount) was great as we ate dinner and breakfast there.

Thank you for the nice comments about our place. We are glad you enjoyed the Coronado National Scenic Byway that leads up here from the south (Hwy 191). We do try hard to see that our rooms are clean and comfortable, and to minimize noise for our customers. You deserve a quiet, good night's sleep. The work at the power plant is finished now, so there are more rooms available in town. Hope you folks will have a chance to come back and enjoy our beautiful changing seasons.
