I've stayed here MANY times and have seen improved rooms, staff and amenities here. Days Inn is across the drive and it was the WORSE hotel I've ever stayed in in Surprise. This hotel has gotten better. The grounds were clean & groomed, the rooms were clean and quiet (no maids buzzing around noisily in the AM) and the staff were so friendly & helpful to me. I've stayed in all of the hotels there from the Windmill Suites, Days Inn, Motel 6, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express and this one was not only the cheapest, it was one of the nicest. I'll return for sure and I travel to Surprise to see family at least 3 X a year. Only bad thing was the SMALL pillows (3 on a queen bed), but since I bring my own pillow, no problem-o for me. Don't listen to all the smack people write about this hotel, take it from me, it's worth the savings you'll acquire from staying away from the newest and priciest hotels in the growing city of Surprise. Free breakfast was good too.

My husband & I stayed here for one night as we were visiting a
relative in the area. The room was dark adn dingy and could have used spiffying up. Paint, new furniture and brighter lights would have helped. For one night it was just OK...we did use any of the amenitiies. WARNING: Do not use MapQuest directions to get to the hotel, they are wrong and the hotel is trying to get them to correct the errors. I would call the hotel for directions.

This place is loud, voices heard in the hallways throughout the night -- didn't get a peaceful night sleep. Pillows were lumpy and hard.
Heater was loud, cheap amenities. Dirty carpet -- looked liked scorch marks near the bed in the room I was placed in.
Lady up front was rude and needs to learn some manners like saying thank you to a customer, etc. I was the second person waiting in line, there were only two of us, the woman in front of me was conducting a cell phone call during her turn, attempting to give directions to another person in her party to the location and asking a number of questions of the clerk. When it came my turn, a man walked in and stood besides me and the clerk asked who was next -- hello, you can't tell me she didn't know I was next when it was just me and the other woman for a full five minutes in the lobby -- and then the clerk told me to get my ID and credit card out and proceeded to help the man first.
Because this location was out of the way, I got lost and attempted to call the number twice and staff apparently doesn't answer the phone. I should have thought better of this place when I originally called to book a reservation -- to ask for a second floor placing, being a woman traveler --I was put on hold indefinitely, which prompted me to book it via cheap tickets. during check-in, I asked if a AAA discount was available I was told that couldn't be done because I had booked the reservation through another source. I got a first-floor handicap room, go figure.

This hotel should be shut down. Not only is the hotel itself bad smelling and dirty, the hotel staff is just as terrible. They treated each and every guest badly. Our first sign should have been all of the customers coming up to the reception desk complaining of their room. After we were given our hotel room, we walked into a mildew-smelling elevator. As we approached our room, we found food and trash lining the hallways. In our room, or more specifically, in our bed, we found crumbs of what we guessed was food. The floor had never been vaccumed, as we found the crust of pieces of pizza on the floor below our bed. We asked the "Manager" of the hotel if we could get our sheets changed. He informed us that "his staff" had gone home, so there was nothing he would do for us. We were floored! We then asked for sheets so we could change them ourselves.
He never apologized for what we found in our bed or near the bed. He was completely rude and disrespectful to us. And this was the manager we were to deal with. I will never return to this hotel, nor will anyone that I know. They are a shame to the "Quality Inn", and "Comfort Inn" hotel chain.

The indoor pool was hot tub temperature and the room itself was so hot that they had the windows open to the 106 degree outdoor temperature to try to cool it down!! In spite of the heat, my wife and daughter elected to swim for a short time to let my little girl burn off some energy accumulated during the long drive. When they returned to the room, we received a phone call. The caller asked my wife if she was the lady who had been swimming in the hotel pool, when she said, "yes", the caller asked if she wanted a "boyfriend". Creepy to say the least. The lobby and upstairs vestibule outside our room was constantly filled with what seemed to be the members of a traveling baseball team of some sort. They were loud, unruly, intimidating and obviously had been drinking. I realize that the behavior of guests isn't entirely in the control of the hotel management, but the one poor young woman working the front desk couldn't begin to control this mob. I reported our obscene caller and she basically said there was nothing she could do.
IMO, the hotel has the responsibility to provide its employees with recourse for dealing with unruly guests and the hotel certainly owns responsibility for maintaining an advertised amenity (I wouldn't have selected this hotel without a pool available) in a comfortably usable condition. They also bear some responsibility for the safety of their guests and I've never felt so unsafe in a hotel in 40+ years of traveling.
