Being only 4 miles from Sky Harbor and even closer to downtown Scottsdale and ASU, the location was perfect. The facility itself presents very nice and very clean. We had a King Suite which was very spacious. The bed was extremlely comfortable and it was nice having a full-sized tub, not just a shower stall. There was adequate room when my two son's and their girlfriends came to visit. The breakfast was about average, with both hot and cold selections. Overall, I rate this Hampton Inn as a good value.

This is the second time in eight years that I have stayed at this Hampton Inn. I now remember, why I don't stay here more often. My main complaint is that the walls are SO THIN you can hear conversations and TV's quite easily. Also, the bathroom in the Suites are very small.
On the other hand, the front desk help was very friendly and helpful. A lightbulb was burnt out and they were up to replace it within 5 minutes, also the battery in the smoke detector was beeping, they took care of that problem promptly.
The extra room is nice, however, would I stay here again? Probably Not

We stayed here on our first night of a big Grand Canyon vacation--arriving weary in the evening. Pick up at the airport was prompt (I called as we got off the plane and they drove up as we stepped out with our bags). The next morning transportation back to the airport to rent a car was also good. We were in no rush and enjoyed a drive through ASU.

The room was a little small for a Hampton Inn but the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast was usual HI fare which was filling and good. An excellent choice for us--family with two kids--11 and 15.

This HI is not your typical hotel. While the grounds are appealing and the facility sports three tennis courts and a raquetball court, by definition this is a motel. The rooms are typically entered from outside and not the inside. We stayed in a King mini suite that had a decent sized living room, but the bed and bath were a little on the smaller side. The suite was dimly lit and laid out in a not so friendly way. We prefer a more open and less jumbled room, but that is just our preference. The breakfast was decent, but we have had better at many other HIs. Depending on where one's room was located, it could be very cumbersome to make way to one's room. Add the heat in the summer, and getting in the room can be exhausting. We found the public areas to appear better kept than the actual room. However, it was a decent room with only the accessibiilty and egress causing problems for us: with regard to the room.
Upon arriving at the front desk one morning to verify directions to the river, the nice young lady at the counter noticed that we were carrying "motel" towels. Seeing us with towels and hearing us asking for definitive directions to the river, she asked if we were taking the "hotel's" towels with us. When we replied yes, she informed us that the towels could not leave the premises. Of course we took them with us anyway, and yes we did return them, however, beware of the towel police! (this is the first time, in all of our traveling, that we have ever had had our hand called on our towels). This incident would further set the tone for our stay.
The "motel" is convenient to many good restaurants and downtown, by car. The rooms are just shy of being average for HI suites. While the outside of the facility is appealing, it stops there.
