I expected more from this chain because of the price point between this and Springhill next door (sister property) - it was 'sold' as a better property because of it's full kitchen and complete breakfast in the morning. And all that was true - nice big kitchen! But the rooms itself (no King beds in any of their regular suites) are small (compared to another sister property - The Residence Inn).
We stayed 2 nights and redeemed our points (only 20,000 for both nights). I had the impression we were given a less than perfect room due to not paying for it (?). It had a view of the parking lot, in the middle of the corridor, and the worst - it had a definate smokey smell. The first evening the a/c would not go under 75 degrees - we were up all night trying to adjust as it was very hot that weekend. In the a.m. I called the front desk to see if they had a safety or 'green' hold to keep guest from cranking the a/c during the dog days of summer (?) Instead, the gentleman at the desk made it seem as if he knew (already) - "maintenance had been told before". I also mentioned the room smelled smokey/musty and asked to move. We moved into the next room over and it definately smelled fresh and the a/c worked like a charm.
Another issue was the huge gap under the door - about 2 inches - on all their rooms. You could hear everyone traveling down the hall and everyone in their rooms when wallking through.
The best part of staying here was the pool - although a couple returning from said pool felt differently. A good looking couple, the gentleman shirtless, said "we should warn you - the pool is small and ghetto" and exited into his room while his companion giggled. And although to some degree, I agreed after my first impression of entering into the pool area - drunk woman, floating in an intertube with a glass bottle of beer, children running about, and the man looked a bit rugged himself. And while walking in a public corridor sans a shirt isn't exactly non "ghetto" where I come from - drinking a beer in a pool or anything with glass is definately not smart.
There is a nice picnic/bbq area with water sprayers which helped bring down the heat and the pool the next day was quiet and relaxing.
The breakfast was one of the best I've seen (not a Hampton).
Overall I'm a little upset over the a/c the first night and the smokey room - more so since I wasted my rewards points for such a room.
The staff was excellent, especially the housekeeping supervisor. I probably wouldn't stay here again but I wouldn't give up on the brand in the future.
