We stayed at the Tombstone Monument Guest Ranch for three nights and enjoyed it so much that we wished we could have stayed for at least three more.
The hotel rooms make up a mock Western main street complete with electric lanterns as outside lighting and rocking chairs set outside the room doors out on the boardwalk where you can sit-a-spell and enjoy the scenery. Our room was a two bedroom with a very comfortable bathroom equipped with a large walk-in shower. We were able to sleep very comfortably with the windows open and the ceiling fan on but there is an in-room thermostat for when the temperatures get higher. Listening to the sounds of the desert while falling asleep was lovely.
The Saloon building also contains the office and dining room. We had delicious breakfasts there every morning. Bacon, ham, scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, assorted fresh fruit, yogurt and breads for toasting along with coffee, tea and/or orange juice were among the foods offered. There was also a selection of cold cereals available. The two dinners we had there were also very nice. Individual fresh salads, chicken breast with wild rice one night, pork chops with stuffing the next night and a dessert as well. Then drinks and games at the Saloon. On one night they had live musical entertainment and it was great fun.
The staff are all incredibly nice, knowledgeable and helpful. The Ranch has quite a few horses available for all skill levels of riding and the horses all look very well cared for. It was nice to be able to walk down to the corrals just to pet them. You can also take the opportunity to go target shooting with some cowboy-style firearms. The gentlemen in charge of this excursion emphasize safety and cater to all experience levels.
The Ranch is only about two miles from the town of Tombstone but you would never know it. It is so peaceful and quiet you could easily pretend you were 100's of miles away from the nearest town. It's a little piece of heaven,
When we booked our room we were unaware that you could also pre-book meals. If you don't take advantage of this you can also pre-book meals at the office ahead of time with enough notice as the chef only cooks enough for confirmed guests.
Be aware that there is a "Tombstone Tax" charged upon check out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Tombstone Monument Guest Ranch and I have nothing but good memories about the experience. A huge thank you to Michelle and all the rest of the staff for doing such a great job!
