“Great stay!”

Just awesome!
The place is very effectively run by George and Susan. The location is very nice and you MUST have a 4x4 to reach up the steep 1Km road.
Rooms are very spacious, clean and unique.
Breakfast is not included in the price but Suzie can prepare something from the menu.

The location is just top. A nice hotel in the middle of the jungle with the nicest view we ever had.
We saw about 10 toucans flying every morning and evening and playing around in the trees.
Waking up with the sound of the hauling monkeys. The cabanas were good and had a kitchen, fridge,....
Only pitty that the breakfast was not included in the price, and beakfast we had was expensive.
Also for the price, the beds could have been made up in the morning and room cleaned.

But, next time I will be in Domincal I will defenitely book again a cabana with Pacific edge.

Rgds Stefan

Thank you for wanting to return to Pacific Edge and the high ranking. We do not include breakfast in the price of the cabins, as we would then have to raise the already very reasonably price cabins. We have provided kitchenettes in the cabins so people do have the optcion of doing there own meals at a much more economical rate, if they wish. Our food rates are the same that you would find in any local restaurant. The price that these folks paid did also included the bar and refreshments that the family of 5 had. Their actual breakfast averaged less than $7 per person. These folks only stayed 2 nights, and unfortuneately their second day here the maid was attending a special education class.

Pacific Edge is a great choice for a hotel if you want to stay near Dominical. The altitude is great as it is a couple of degrees cooler than by the beach. The view is incredible!

The location is great too as it is right up in the mountains surrounded by all the wildlife. At night, we must have had a pack of howler monkeys right behind our cabina!

The pool is very welcoming and a great way to cool off after being at the beach.

The dogs are really friendly once they get to know you and Charlie even might go swimming with you in the pool!

George and Suzy are great hosts. George is always very happy and eager to help out - he even lent us his boogie board when we went to the beach! The story of how they ended up in Costa Rica is worth hearing about. The book of activities in the rooms is a great resource for planning what to do in the area!

The hammocks on the cabina porches are a great way to just enjoy the view and the surrounding environment.

The kitchenette area is well equipped for cooking if you want to make breakfast like we did.

Enjoy :)

Room Tip: #2 had a really great view

Went to the Pacific Edge May 2011 for my mom's 60th bday with my parents, husband, brother and girlfriend. Have all been to Costa Rica before but this place was by far the best! The cabinas are adorable and have incredible views of jungle and ocean. Falling asleep every night to the sounds of the jungle and the tropical thunderstorms was one of the most beautiful and peaceful times of my life! If you're looking for an extremely charming and unique spot to unwind and really get into the real Costa Rica this is it. Morning yoga with the monkeys, afternoon dips in the pool, and starry nights (when the storms roll past) all made this birthday trip a real treat! Town is pretty sleepy but great for relaxing! Of all my worldly travels this is the coolest hotel of them all!! Thank you George and Suzy for sharing this special spot!

Room Tip: The large cabin is perfect for two couples or small group and is secluded from the other cabinas

The roads down here used to be awful. That had the fortunate effect of limiting development, so the gorgeous views here are not marred by any gaudy hotels or buildings. Even at night (and watching the sunset from here is a MUST) there are only a few lights breaking the canopy of green falling down to the crescent shoreline below. The road up the hill to this place may be a bit intimidating, and the parking area is somewhat cramped, but the instant you take in the view from the main rancho, that will all be only a distant memory. Put it this way, I would gladly hike for two hours straight up a mountain path just to get the exact same view that you can view anytime from the hammock on your own deck.

The rooms are somewhat basic (but comfortable), although they have a nice little kitchen area which provides you with some nice options. A pastime with the group that was there while I stayed was to shop for some noshibles in town (they have a great costa rican cheese that is something like fresh mozzarella which can be found in every store), pick up a bottle of your favorite libation and climb into one of the towers to watch the sun dive into the sea. It really is like something out of a magazine cover. The toucans tended to show up around this time, and just after the sun went down you could hear the Howler monkeys calling in the tress below.

The pool was kept very clean, and the numerous decks and towers offered a variety of lounging spots, each with a great view. And the decks in front of each cabin were very nicely equipped with chairs and hammocks, guaranteeing you a great spot to sit and ogle the view.

A couple reviewers have commented on Suzie being a bit "aloof". I would respond by saying that while she was not overly gregarious on my visit, she was very helpful, and made sure I had whatever I needed. George was simply a blast and he kept me entertained whenever we'd swap stories. He is a hard guy not to like. I'd also add that if you were constantly responding to the same questions about the place and your life over and over again, I wouldn't be surprised if it became difficult to always be "on". With all that said, I found them to be very pleasant hosts.

One tip I would give potential visitors (aside from setting up your own sunset watching party in a tower) is to make friends with the dogs pretty early on. They can forget who you are if you don't spend a little time with them when you check in, and that can make for a tense entry into the rancho the next morning. However, once they know you, they are big ol balls of doggie luvin.

Pacific Edge provides nice access to the Dominical area, and there is much to see and do down here. But just don't forget to enjoy the view from the place itself. You rarely get a chance to step into a travel magazine cover, but this place delivers.

We stayed here for 2 nights on the way to the Osa Pennisula. We also stayed last year for 4 nights and both trips were great. Tthis is the only place we would consider in the area. The view is so spectacular that it can't really be described in words. The cabins are clean and quiet with comfortable beds. The Miradors (towers) are wonderful for bird watching or just reading a good book, but what makes this place special is George and Susan, who treat you like family. Great view, food, and conversation. What more could you ask for?

My fiance and I stayed here for two nights as part of a larger Costa Rican vacation in Feb. 2010. We had just left the hustle and bustle of Manuel Antonio so this place turned out to be a welcome respite. You need your own vehicle to stay here and they provide gated parking for you. Pacific Edge is located up a pretty steep dirt road but once you arrive you and blessed with stunning views of the coastline and rainforest. The owners live here and are very friendly but appreciate and respect your privacy. My fiance and I spent a lot of time exploring the area and the owners were helpful to recommend places to eat, visit and even avoid. :-) Our room was big, comfortable with a good bathroom, small kitchenette, fridge and coffee maker. We loved making coffee in the morning and heading up to the patio for a homemade breakfast every morning. I recommend the fritata if it is still on the menu. For the price you will not be disappointed and you will love and appreciate the quiet, authentic Costa Rican experience that Pacific Edge offers.
