“Wonderful stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2012

Location was perfect. Nice long beach. The property ground was amazing (flowers). The food was very good (breakfast and pizza). This place have wine and beer only, no cocktail. We all missed our Margarita, martini, etc. that we normally have around the pool and before dinner. Rooms were great, no problem with hot water. I would not stay there for more then 2 nights though. There is only some different types of pizza on the menu for dinner but plenty of restaurants near by ( by car). Room, pool was very clean.

Highly recommended by the surf camp (Dominical Waverider) that was taking care of our family, we stayed in Costa Paraiso for our first 3 nights. What a peace of paradise! Right on the beach, and only 5 minutes from Dominical town, it was a perfect location. We did not have to deal with the crowd of the town and yet we we not so far. The rooms were nicely decorated, clean and the bed was very comfortable. They have a restaurant that have firewood pizza, and it was delicious. Their staff was very helpful, and the receptionist Sandra was very friendly. We moved to a house up the mountains for the rest of our stay, but when we come back we know for sure where we are going to stay. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks was awesome! Ps: if you have kids under too young you might be paranoid about the rocks, besides that, HIGHLY recommended.

Costa Paraiso - what a find this was!
Right off the main road, but tucked away so you'd almost never know it was there and right on the ocean. Each room was its own little hideaway, complete with kitchen, dining area, porch and bed space for 4. (We had a group of 5 and, even with a rollaway in the room, we had plenty of space.) The rooms each have a theme and are beautiful, inviting, very comfortable and surprisingly affordable. My only complaint would be that the water pressure in the shower wasn't great, but everything else more than makes up for it.
The property has a very nice pool and pool area as well as several nooks with hammocks and views to just lay back and relax. One of our favorite spots was the upper level deck, complete with hammock, lounge chairs, table, a view of the ocean and surrounded by foliage.
Costa is right on the ocean, but the section in front of the hotel is a kind of rocky cove not recommended for bathing; however, it's just a few minute walk to get to an area that is good for swimming.
Sandra and the rest of the staff were great and the restaurant - Por que no? - was fabulous!!
The center of Dominical is just a short 5-minute cab ride away, or the hotel has bikes you can borrow for a donation toward their upkeep. I, for one, was happy to be away from Dominical. It was definitely more touristy and not the most picturesque of places.
(If you do end up in this area, I HIGHLY recommend the Don Lulo horseback tour to the Nauyaca Waterfalls!)
All in all - I would go back to the area JUST to stay at Costa Paraiso.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Pelican Roost and loved it; it seems that all of the rooms are pretty great though.

We went to Costa Rica for our Honeymoon from the UK in July 2012. We travelled around for a while, and our last 3 nights were at Costa Paraiso in Dominical. Well, what a place! As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. we didnt have a car when we were there, so Kate the cook offered to take us to the local supermarket and gave us a little guided tour on the way back. We stayed in the Toucan room for the first 2 nights which is like a little villa all on its own with an incredible view (espeically when there is a thunder storm!). We then had to move to the coconut room, as a wedding party arrived, and even though the reviews on trip advisor say these rooms are not as good, we loved it. Very large, airy, clean and perfectly laid out. We were lucky that Bob the owner was there at the same time as us. He is fantastic! The first night we were there we were invited to a party as one of the chefs was leaving. There was a hog roast, whole seabass and loads of salads, plus all the staff and their friends and family were great company. For the next few days Bob went surfing with my husband and showed him where to go. Bob and his lovely daughter also had dinner with us on our last night which was great. I could not recommend this hotel more. Its relaxed, friendly and perfect! Thank you everyone!

This property's location makes it an incredible place to stay. Situated outside the main town of Dominical, it was laid back and relaxing. We stayed in the Toucan villa, where the view of the rocky coast and ocean and were exceptional. The restaurant at the property, "Por Que No" and its staff also added to the overall experience of this place.

We stayed in the Monkey Loft room in June 2012. Our stay was wonderful! The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Sandra does a wonderful job.

Our room had two large beds, a kitchen with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, sink, fridge, table and 4 chairs. Coffee and sugar are provided so you can make your own coffee. There were also dishes, cooking utensils, etc. provided in the room. The hotel provided beach/pool towels as needed. A/C unit in the room worked very well, and cooled down the room quite quickly. There were also two ceiling fans in our room. Our windows opened and all had screens except the bathroom window.

The shower was good - the water was quite warm even if the pressure is less than what we are used to at home.

Breakfast and dinner are served at the restaurant. Breakfast was delicious and very reasonable - $6 for most items. The chef made fresh cinnamon rolls and blueberry muffins while we staying there, and they were AMAZING. We ordered breakfast, then ordered cinnamon rolls to take back to the room for later in the day when we got hungry.

The property was beautiful. You can see the waves crashing on the rocky beach from anywhere on the property. The pool was lovely and refreshing - part of it is in the shade. There are hammocks all across the property to relax in. We saw a ton of iguanas. All the plants were blooming when we were there, and the grounds were perfectly manicured.

You can walk down to the beach here, but the beachline area is quite rocky along here. However, just 1km down the main highway from the hotel is Dominicalito beach, which is very good for surfing or swimming.

Since there are just a few rooms, we really enjoyed the peaceful setting of this hotel. It was very relaxing. I enjoyed the privacy of the location since it is a little south of town (Dominical) away from the other hotels. It gets a wonderful breeze from the ocean, too.

We will definitely stay at this hotel next time we come back to Costa Rica!

Caution: The driveway into the property from the main road is quite steep, and you'll want to make sure no cars are on their way down as you are on your way up.

Room Tip: Monkey Loft was wonderful! Would sleep 2-4 people.

I have never seen anything like this place. It is definitely special.

I usually pick places to stay that seem to have high potential for that special quality and this place hit the spot.

On the grounds:
- The location is absolutely beautiful and relaxed.
- The rocks on the beach are amazing. But be careful - do not play on the rocks without caution. The waves can create a wall of ocean water when they contact the rocks and slam you down to the jagged rocks. I was playing on the rocks (I had no intention of getting wet) and got messed up pretty good. It hurt but it could have been much worse. I later heard that 2 people died playing there while drinking on new years. Definitely check the place out but be mindful of the power of the ocean when it contacts the rocks.. use common sense and play away from all the action.
- The viewing areas/hammocks from the hotel are top notch.
- Large iguanas right near the parking lot - they were awesome.
- Beautiful birds surround this place.
- Sandra is super cool.
- The pool is okay.
- Food seemed overpriced for what it was so we used the kitchen and ate out.

In the room:
- Had a really nice feel. Somewhat quaint and rustic but with nice amenities, good lighting.
- The kitchen was nice to have.
- Beds are very comfortable.
- The rollaway bed was not super comfortable but it was fine.
- A/C was great.
- Water for showering could have been a little hotter.

In the area:
- Great place to beach hop - so many nice/secluded beaches close by.
- drive down to Uvita Waterfall - beautiful place.
- groceries are expensive and limited in the area so if you plan to cook you may want to come prepared.
- decent vegetarian options in the area.

Great value for 5 people. Great value in general. On an excellent property. May be a little sleepy for certain people but perfect for those who are in the process of perfecting the fine art of chilling with a fair amount in the area to keep busy.

This would be a pretty cool place for a romantic getaway.

I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Dolphin and Pelican have a view of the parking lot but were still pretty nice.
