Best waterfront ever! OMG! Location, location!I was very happy with the service from the time of booking to the checkout. Since I booked really early, the reservation system wasn't open, but the managers agreed to notify me - and she did follow up with that and all of the requests. It is really appreciated! We stayed in Toucan Nest, which is a gorgeous view. The room is basic, but clean and had everything we needed. They did our laundry several times for a small price. They were happy to help us with entertainment, invited us to surf, drew us a map of a nice hike up the mountain, and hooked us up with an awesome fishing guide that was very reasonably priced! Overall, a fabulous time! The reviews about the parking lot - it is a tight space, and the restaurant is popular for dinner. It was not really intrusive as I thought, but something to expect. The main road is close, and you can hear road noise from toucan nest, but the ocean waves crashing was louder if you can imagine. It was fine, not disruptive. Restaurant was exceptional, catered to everything we wanted.

Room Tip: Toucan Nest had fabulous view, but our friends had Pelican Roost, much nicer and spacious room. Pel...

This place is a little full of itself to charge $150 for a super basic room with 'ocean view'. The hotel is pretty much beach front, but they don't show the ocean views on the website because the rooms have a view of the small over crammed parking lot with a partial view behind it. We stayed in the Pelican Roost and were looking forward to hanging on the patio, but it was really not private at all, shared with the neighbor, and once again overlooking the restaurant's parking lot. Serious lack of pura vida greeting on our arrival. When we first arrived they did not greet us or welcome us, we had to wait and finally interrupt the workers chatting casually in the office to tell them we had reservations. Still no smile, no welcome, just replied 'Check in is not until 2 pm'. We could clearly see the room from the parking lot and it was obviously already empty with the key in the door ready. There was also construction and the noise that goes with it during our entire stay. When we complained they were accommodating and did give us 15% off which helped a bit. The shower in our room had cold water with surges of warm water at times and stunk so badly of sewage that we had to hold our breath to tolerate a quick rinse off. The Pluses, the restaurant is great and there is a very nice, small pool to watch the sunset over the ocean. Overall we enjoyed it but really this place should be half the price based on tons of other places we have stayed in Costa Rica. Would get a better review from us if the rooms were in the $80 range.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel. Your feedback is very helpful to us to ensure our service is at the standard we expect 100% of the time.

Please accept our since apologies that the customer service you received in your visit, was less than desired. This is something we consider very important for our business at Costa Paraiso and will look to use this unfortunate situation to help ensure all our staff understand the importance of good customer service.

It is unfortunate that during your visit, we had unforeseen construction as well as challenges with our water supply. As we are coming to the end of the high season, we have been without rain for many months and this can challenge the water supplies for all the businesses in this area.

It is good to hear that you enjoyed the restaurant, as well as appreciated our discount for your room.

We sincerely hope you will give our hotel another try the next time you come through this area. We would really love the chance to make this experience up to you. Please contact us directly through TripAdvisor so we can arrange this for you.

We got our dates mixed up, went to check in a day early and the rooms were all full. Sandra, the manager, was SO helpful phoning hotels within a 50 km radius for 2 hours in between her other duties, until we found a room. We were so grateful! When we did check in, the Toucan's Nest cabin was beyond our expectations. It has a beautiful view, and everything a guest needs has been thought of. We only wish we'd given ourselves more time in the area. We'll be back!

For the past three years, my husband and I have chosen Costa Paraiso as our “our home away from home” when vacationing in Costa Rica. The reasons that we continually return to Costa Paraiso are abundant. The breathtaking oceanfront location, immaculate tropical grounds, comfortable and spacious cabanas, outstanding personalized service and Por Que No? restaurant and its exceptional dining experience are just a few reasons.

Location: Absolutely paradise. Private cabanas blend perfectly into the lush natural landscape. My favorite cabana is the Toucan Nest. Dominical is a casual relaxed destination where everyone, whether a local or a visitor, are wonderfully warm and friendly.

Outstanding Staff Service: Sandra, the Hotel Manager has a welcoming smile and greets each guest as a special friend. Sandra can help with everything from airport transportation, car rental, adventure/excursion information, where the best surfing is and anything else she possibly can. No request is too large or small for the Staff at Costa Paraiso. Bravo Sandra and we miss you!

Dining: Por Que No? Restaurant: Our only choice for a sumptuous breakfast, lunch or dinner. Chef Shelby does an amazing job creating new and exciting ways of tempting your taste buds. His fish dishes are my favorite! The smoothies are fantastic and my favorite breakfast is the Costa Paraiso breakfast sandwich. Yum~

I hope that our frequent visits to Costa Paraiso speak volumes about the wonderful experiences and the wonderful friends that we have made over the years. Pura Vida!

We stayed here for 2 nights of a 3 weeks tour of Costa Rica with 7 destinations.
There are places you stay where you enjoy a day or two, if i could, ive give this place a long week or two at the very least....Maybe a month!
We stayed in the Toucans Nest. It was a really lovely room with a veiw across the garden and down to the ocean. The room was spotless, the bed really comfy and it was very private. We slept both nights with the doors open and the sounds of the ocean. Lovely.
The short walk to the beach is easy and you can walk a very long way on a lovely and wild beach. The sunsets are incredible, we watched the sunset down on the rocks and then walked back up for the fabulous dinners served here.Happy times :)
The food (as mentioned in a seperate review) is marvellous! and we sat one morning eating the amazing french toast watching a kingfisher working hard for his breakfast! There were lots of birds arround the property as well as the biggest iguana i have every seen, it was bogger than both my dogs!!
The staff were super freindly, helpful and kind, even when we returned late from a day tour and had to vacate our room really quickly!
Of all the places we stayed in CR this one is on our return list, the area is just so beautiful and the hotel is perfectly place for chilling out in and soaking it up.

Room Tip: Toucans nest - book ahead as this room is soooo lovely!!

Our first trip to Costa Rica was last week, we stayed here for 3 nights. The room was the Toucan room and it was very spacious and clean. The room has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker and water for drinking. The deck looked out over the pacific ocean and we enjoyed hanging out in the hammock. Sandra was so nice and helpful, even when my glasses broke, she gave me directions to the eye dr in San Isidro, tho I was able to fix them with some tape! The food was so yummy, the smoothies were delish! Beautiful gardens and view of the sunset over the water.
Close enough to the national parks in the area, just a short drive away.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Costa Paraiso, hope to go back again someday!
