My husband and I stayed at the Costa Paraiso with our friends and family for our wedding week (and also had our wedding on site). It could not have been more perfect!! The view is phenomenal! We have never had such excellent customer service in our lives. Jo and Shelby, as well as their entire staff made us feel so at home and welcome. The rooms were great and the restaurant was awesome. We can't stop talking about our next trip back!

Your wedding was such a great event! Thanks very much for sharing that time with us here - we all had such a wonderful experience working with you.

The view of your pictures look beautiful as well...we were all prepared for rain for nothing!

Looking forward to your next trip!

If you are driving down the coast from Quepos, pass the turn off for Playa Dominical and you will find this hotel about 2 km down on your left. We stayed in Monkey and our friends stayed in Dolphine. They have 5 cute named cabinas on the hill. Both were simple, but clean spaces. It was exactly what we were looking for. No TV's or alarm clocks to get in our way of relaxing. The kids enjoyed the pool and the staff was amazing with them....going out of their way to get them paper for drawing and keeping them entertained.

We have decided next time we are in the area we will stay here again and enjoy the grounds even more!

We stopped here for one night to split up the drive down to Pavones. The room was super comfortable, the AC worked great which is rare for Central America, the food was amazing, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If we had a few more days to spare we would have stayed longer and enjoyed all the amenities. Did I mention the food was amazing....the food was amazing! I saw a few reviews about the rooms facing the car park...the car park is tiny and it's not an eye sore. Plus there are some many places to relax around the property, that factor didn't bother us at all.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Pelican room, because they were doing some work on the room we reserved. It was hug...

Thanks for the review and the tips about the room.

Hoping we can get you to stay a bit longer next time. Glad you enjoyed the food.

We appreciate you mention the view from the rooms. We have 4 rooms that have a view of the parking lot from their deck and we want to make sure people are aware of this. We are an oceanfront resort with amazing views from our property. We have several beautiful spots including our pool, that we find our guests prefer to enjoy the waves and sunset from, when not on the beach nearby. Should someone really want a private deck with a view of the ocean, we recommend our Toucan Room for 2.

Pura Vida!

This is a small and well-kept hotel on the southern edge of Playa Dominical that overlooks a rocky coast. You will be greeted by a welcoming staff that speaks fluent English, Spanish and it sounded like bits of other European languages as well. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a small kitchen area available for preparing small meals. However, I would recommend the hotel restaurant, Porqueno, for its excellent food and service. There is a swimming pool that overlooks the ocean. You can walk down to Playa Dominicalito and I think Playa Dominical as well. It would be a long walk (over a mile) to Dominical. The rooms are moderately expensive for Dominical, but you are getting a large upgrade compared to the cheaper accommodations.

Best waterfront ever! OMG! Location, location!I was very happy with the service from the time of booking to the checkout. Since I booked really early, the reservation system wasn't open, but the managers agreed to notify me - and she did follow up with that and all of the requests. It is really appreciated! We stayed in Toucan Nest, which is a gorgeous view. The room is basic, but clean and had everything we needed. They did our laundry several times for a small price. They were happy to help us with entertainment, invited us to surf, drew us a map of a nice hike up the mountain, and hooked us up with an awesome fishing guide that was very reasonably priced! Overall, a fabulous time! The reviews about the parking lot - it is a tight space, and the restaurant is popular for dinner. It was not really intrusive as I thought, but something to expect. The main road is close, and you can hear road noise from toucan nest, but the ocean waves crashing was louder if you can imagine. It was fine, not disruptive. Restaurant was exceptional, catered to everything we wanted.

Room Tip: Toucan Nest had fabulous view, but our friends had Pelican Roost, much nicer and spacious room. Pel...

This place is a little full of itself to charge $150 for a super basic room with 'ocean view'. The hotel is pretty much beach front, but they don't show the ocean views on the website because the rooms have a view of the small over crammed parking lot with a partial view behind it. We stayed in the Pelican Roost and were looking forward to hanging on the patio, but it was really not private at all, shared with the neighbor, and once again overlooking the restaurant's parking lot. Serious lack of pura vida greeting on our arrival. When we first arrived they did not greet us or welcome us, we had to wait and finally interrupt the workers chatting casually in the office to tell them we had reservations. Still no smile, no welcome, just replied 'Check in is not until 2 pm'. We could clearly see the room from the parking lot and it was obviously already empty with the key in the door ready. There was also construction and the noise that goes with it during our entire stay. When we complained they were accommodating and did give us 15% off which helped a bit. The shower in our room had cold water with surges of warm water at times and stunk so badly of sewage that we had to hold our breath to tolerate a quick rinse off. The Pluses, the restaurant is great and there is a very nice, small pool to watch the sunset over the ocean. Overall we enjoyed it but really this place should be half the price based on tons of other places we have stayed in Costa Rica. Would get a better review from us if the rooms were in the $80 range.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel. Your feedback is very helpful to us to ensure our service is at the standard we expect 100% of the time.

Please accept our since apologies that the customer service you received in your visit, was less than desired. This is something we consider very important for our business at Costa Paraiso and will look to use this unfortunate situation to help ensure all our staff understand the importance of good customer service.

It is unfortunate that during your visit, we had unforeseen construction as well as challenges with our water supply. As we are coming to the end of the high season, we have been without rain for many months and this can challenge the water supplies for all the businesses in this area.

It is good to hear that you enjoyed the restaurant, as well as appreciated our discount for your room.

We sincerely hope you will give our hotel another try the next time you come through this area. We would really love the chance to make this experience up to you. Please contact us directly through TripAdvisor so we can arrange this for you.
