“Hidden gem in Dominical”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2010

My husband and I spent four days here with my nephews (9 & 11)..Had a very relaxing time. Hotel staff was very helpful with making arrangements after our backpack (with cash and credit cards) were stolen on the beach.

Pool and grounds were excellent (the boys loved it)---however, this resort is not made for active boys, but rather a romantic couple's get away. Rooms are comfortable, though beds and bedding could be upgraded somewhat.

Morning breakfast buffet was great and dinners were also excellent. Very quiet hotel.

Small 4* hotel near the Atlantic with georgous swimming pool and paradise surrounding. Friendly knowledgable staff, excellent food and spa. Waterfall horseback riding location nearby a must-do, it was definitely the highlight of our family trip. Even our boys (7,10) said they had a great time. We would come back here in a heartbeat.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful facility. The owned chatted with us on several occasions to ensure our stay was meeting expectations. We would certainly return!!!

We just ended our stay at Cuna del Angel, and it was simply amazing! The hotel grounds are well kept and the views over the ocean are beautiful! The staff were all friendly, helpful and eager to please. By the end of our stay we knew the names of most of the hotel workers and felt sad to leave the hotel. The restaurant is a tad on the pricey side if you are on a tighter vacation budget, but the meals and wait staff are all superb. The breathtaking views and ambiance from the restaurant make it a good value for $15 - $25 per entree. Be sure to order the steak with Bearnaise sauce and the banana flambe. The owner of the hotel was very friendly and made us feel very welcome at the hotel. They even provide a driver for you if you need to get a ride somewhere. The pool is gorgeous, with an infinity edge and an ocean view over the jungle. We even saw a few toucans and a family of howler monkeys while we were relaxing by the pool! Make sure and get one of the upstairs deluxe rooms -- the balcony with an ocean view is great! Oh yeah, the bar sells the most delicious piña coladas that I have ever had. Nothing but good reviews for Cuna del Angel. You simply must go and experience the good pura vida vibes for yourself!

We loved staying at this hotel. Not only did all the employees know your name but we knew all their names by the end of our stay. Lots of hugs and warm memories with our visit. Stunning views. Great spa and lovely rooms. Also, the food was very good there. Very relaxing place to be and the owner was very charming and friendly.

With prepaid room our final balance came to $277.77 for 2 dinners, drinks, pedicure & 1 souvenir from the boutique.

No help with luggage from the driveway up to reception. Check-in was somewhat awkward. Possibly some guest relations training is needed. Little property information was volunteered by the staff. Maybe we weren't supposed to use it, but accidently found the coldwater jacuzzi located near the villas during an independent tour of the grounds. The umbrellas were broken.

Standard room guests seem to be treated differently by the owners. Tom literally stepped in between to interrupt a conversation with other guests. We were not acknowledged. It was awkward & embarrassing to be publicly snubbed.

Staff treated us fine including: packing breakfast upon request for an early departure; fitting in a last minute pedicure after posted spa hours; & allowing a late checkout.

Sound of truck "jake brakes" heard throughout night. Electricity went out multiple times both nights of our stay. The air conditioner took an extended period to restart afterward.

Expensive but average meals & $9 specialty drinks are available. But we didn't go to Costa Rica for the food. Found it slightly troubling that the person who did my pedicure in the spa almost immediately served us (& others) dinner with minimal time to sanitize.

To be fair, it is an attractive propery with a small ocean view visible from our balcony. There were lots of creatures to see on the property including chestnut toucans, plus tons of other birds, iguanas, geckos, etc.
