Owner description: The Divine Dolphin has been taking people to encounter the glorious dolphins and whales of Drake Bay, Costa Rica since 1998. We are also a research and conservation organization dedicated to creating a protected marine area here, and are the only tour operator exclusively dedicated to dolphin and whale tours. It is our specialty! Our tours feature highly experienced tour guides, our resident marine biologist and a hydrophone that allows us to hear the dolphins' and whales' sounds. We often encounter mega pods of dolphins numbering in the hundreds and even thousands and we have the longest season of Humpback Whales in the world. We celebrate the connection that people have with these amazing and highly intelligent beings and approach them with the utmost respect. We have been featured on Animal Planet, The Travel Channel, Fine Living and in numerous magazines and publications. Dive on in and meet the Divine Dolphins and Whales up close and personal while helping us to create a protected marine area. Everybody wins, especially the marine mammals we are working to protect.

My family and I had a lovely day with Sierra and her awesome crew last week. She was great at explaining about the different species of cetaceans that inhabit and transit through these beautiful waters. We saw a mother northern humpback and baby that morning and saw at least 4 different pods of spotted Pan Pacific dolphins during the day. Unfortunately, the dolphins where not much interested in interacting with us but it was a thrill to see them just as they were.....natural, wild and free to do what they wished (as opposed to the sad trained beings at Sea parks around the world!). We saw 11 sea titles that day, a Pelagic Sea Snake and three Sail fish also plus we got to swim out in the "blue Water" 28 miles off shore............that's a whole different kind of thrill! Sierra and crew worked hard all day to spot things and their level of commitment and caring for the animals and for the guests was clear to see. It's always a blessing to be on the ocean and see it's great creatures! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Sierra and her crew ran a great outing. We say spotted and bottle nosed dolphins and humpback whales--and their babies! Sierra clearly loves the big ocean mammals and is invested in people having a good time on her tour. We also stopped twice to go for a swim in the amazing water off Drake Bay. I highly recommend getting off coast and into the amazing aquamarine water with Sierra. Very worth it.

Matthew, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and especially for coming out to play with us and the dolphins and whales. I am so glad you were able to see so much that day... we pack as much in as we can!! We ARE committed to our guests having a good time and do our best each day to find as many dolphins and whales as we can... and here on the Osa Peninsula, that is not hard to do!! We hope you'll come back again soon.

I recently took a tour with Sierra and I had never done something like this , so I really didn't know what to expect. There was 6 of us that day and a couple that was on the boat were becoming impatient that we hadn't seen dolphins yet. Sierra kept telling the people that she would indeed find some dolphins. It took a while that day but when we finally happened upon them, there they were, 250 or more! Jumping and swimming along side of us for over an hour. The doubting couple got some of the best video of dolphins right next to our boat as we moved through the water. They swam upside down and in rows of 4. There were babies too. We also saw many sea turtles that day, 2 kinds, and they let us close for some great shots. Going to Drake Bay? You want to have a really awesome day? Call Sierra.....

This was my favorite tour in all my time in Costa Rica. Our guide, Sierra, was extremely passionate about what she does and her excitement was contagious, especially when we found ourselves surrounded by hundreds of spotted dolphins that were leaping and playing. The excitement continued when we found TWO pairs of mom and baby humpbacks together and one of the babies breached over and over again to our delight. The picnic lunch was awesome, the experienced captain was super friendly and he was just as excited as the rest of us. I wish I had stayed in Drake Bay long enough to do this tour a second time. I think I will go back in the high season when they can go out even further to see the spinner dolphins and pilot whales. Thank you for the highlight of my trip!

I did a day trip to find whales with Sierra in August and it was a wonderful experience. She picked us up at our beach at 8am and we were out on the boat until 2 or 3pm, so it felt like a full day's adventure. Over the course of the morning, we saw 20 whales -- moms with their babies! We saw a few dolphins and some turtles, too. Very memorable!

It was my pleasure to take you out to see our abundance of Humpback Whales (our Southern migration this time of year). We are so blessed to have almost year round Humpback whales here with whales coming here to have their babies and breed from both North and South America. We hope to see you again out here sometime in the near future. Blessings to you.
