Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: This is a guided descent of the Rio Agujitas in Drake Bay, CR. Using inflatable inner-tubes guests float down the river to explore the biodiversity surrounding Drake Bay. Encounters with wildlife are common and expected. Depending on the route there are stops at natural pools to swim, rocks to jump, and waterfalls to play in. The 40$ fee includes: Your guide, inner-tube, water shoe rental, transportation, waterproof photography, extra water and sunscreen. BUT NOT FOOD OR BEER. We are happy to carry your food down the river for you in a drybag. Beer can be arranged for purchase. The trip requires a certain amount of physical athleticism as it's necessary to be able to swim confidently, paddle in your tube, and walk across wet rocks etc. Participants need only bring bathing suits and sunscreen, as EVERYTHING will get wet on this tour. Tours depart from the village by truck at 8am and 3pm. Hotel pickup is usually possible. We return to the village on foot.
Useful Information: Activities for older children, Food available for purchase

What with Aaron's mellow style, informative real-time river narration, and the story about the mystery stash bottle along the river bank, this was the most fun we had on the trip.

A really great way to see Costa Rica from the river's view.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Drake Bay. At $25 per person it's not only affordable but is one if the best ways to see the beauty of drake bay while also enjoying the cool water.

The guide Aaron is very flexible in start time which was great as it allowed a few more friends to join our group and also made it easy with scheduling kids.

The river was great- very relaxing and while floating we saw monkeys and birds. We also had some fabulous rapids - just enough for a thrill without feeling dangerous - again nice with kids. There were a few rapids that we walked around - only the daring willing to try - including our guide. It was great fun to encourage those who wanted to try while being safely on shore.

Our guide was very conscientious about safety and ensuring we were all comfortable both paddling and navigating the rapids.

If you are looking for a relaxing and fun activity - you won't want to miss this. We did horseback riding too and although that was great this was much more fun and better value too!

Aaron is a friendly guy. When we met at Jinetes Osa Hotel, where we were staying, I felt I had known already known him for a long time.

Just a 18-20 minute walk into town to meet others that went along and then another 20-25 minute walk to the river.

We had an awesome time tubing with Drake River Tubing.
He is very knowledgeable about the river!
At the beginning you are in for some lazy- floating time. Then it picks up a little and we even had a few class 1 rapids. There is a great water fall, too.
We saw birds, iguanas and monkeys.
We spent about 4 hours making our way down to the Suspension bridge.
It ended to soon!
This is a don't miss while in Drake Bay!

This is one of the tours that not many people know about...so I'm really lucky i did it! I met Aaron when i stayed in Jinetes de Osa - that's where you can find him. He is a great guy, one of those people who make you feel very comfortable in their company as if you knew him from before.
First of all, the best time to go is probably the day you arrive because you the tour starts late morning/early afternoon and Aaron is flexible with his time and very accommodating. The tour takes abt 3.5-4 hours including hiking to the start and back (short hikes). Aaron will show you the best way to paddle - he'll be going first making sure he shows the way. I think he does a great job at keeping it fun and safe...If you are really brave ask him if you can do bigger rapids...I am a bit of a coward in water so i just walked passed them ) Honestly it will not fill like a formal guided tour - more like fun outdoors time w your buddies...In spots where scenery is especially nice you can stop and chill. You will have rapids and you will have really quite spots where you'd just stare at the sky and enjoy...Not many locals know about that place - that makes it even more special. The water is very very clear, like Aaron said probably the clearest water you'll ever see. And...there are no crocodiles on the way, don't worry! (I did!)
I am really glad I had this
experience. Thank you Aaron!
