“Great place, Great food, great experience”

If you're looking for the perfect open air tropical rain forest experience Las Caletas may be what you're looking for. The Hosts, David and his wife were most attentive and friendly during me and my wife's six night stay there in the latter half of July. David was a good concierge for off site activities whether it was whale watching, snorkeling, visiting the Corcovado National Park or others.
We woke up to sounds of the the ocean waves, monkeys, critters and tropical birds of all kinds. The food was excellent, breakfast, lunch and dinner which in my opinion easily measured up to food we had at good hotels and restaurants in Europe. And we really enjoyed the cosmopolitan mix of people we dined and had our activities with. The grounds were very well kept.. There is a great view of Drake Bay from the dining area. The climate is a warm and humid, but overall it was a truly great experience.

We spent 4 days at Las Caletas with our 2 children, ages 10 and 12. The food is amazing, the accomodations -- though rustic -- are really, really nice. The location is spectacular; the resort is perched on a cliff overlooking the pacific ocean and an amazing beach. But, best of all, is the staff. The staff creates an amazing sense of community among a diverse mix of hotel guests who come from all over the world and speak any and every language. The staff make sure that every need is met, trips arranged, information provided, in the most respectful and intelligent manner. The on-site naturalist is amazing and always available to answer questions and point out local flora and fauna. My children cried when we left....and we almost did too! If you are looking for a unique vacation in a pristine, remote environment -- and don't mind roughing it a little bit -- you should try Las Caletas.

Room Tip: We stayed in a two floor bungalow unit, which is great for families travelling with older children...

A friend of our recommended Las Caletas after he spent some time teaching at a small school nearby. We loved the lodge, and the jungle atmosphere. The food is amazing here (it better be because you can't go anywhere nearby to get more!) The staff are also so sweet and the sights are unbeatable. We stayed in one of the tents and were very impressed with the cleanliness of it, it was like a luxurious camp out.

The beaches are also barely touched and extremely private. Most of our days there we were the only two people at the beach. Just be careful not to get caught in the undertow or rocks as there are no lifeguards!

The amount of wildlife we saw and the knowledge David shared about the local culture made this a priceless experience. The family style dinner time led us to meet people from all around the world and we actually made great friends with a couple from Switzerland that we still keep in contact with! A great place to stay if you really want to see the Costa Rican jungle but eat like you're at a 5-star resort.

Room Tip: If going with the tent option try to get the one on the platform. It's very private and offers g...

David and his wife are fantastic. She cooks all the meals and they are all really tasty. Very remote, quite experience. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was nice, removed from the main property, but hot.

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite is great.

It was so exciting to be picked up from my flight, slightly bare knuckled, taken to a boat and then whisked around the coast to fabulous beach to be welcomed by Juan. I loved this place and it was a highlight of my trip. Tucked away in the Corcovado NP, it was such a friendly lodge and I had my own little ( well in fact not so,little cabin) which I think I could move in forever. The views are incredible and with strategically placed hammocks there is no need to move! The relaxed style eating on one large table was really welcoming for a single traveller. Possiby slightly difficult to avoid other guests but I found every evening was easily entertained by some of the guests. It was early to bed on both nights as it felt, abit awkward after dinner.. Food was fab and loads of it. Afternoon cake a great idea!! The activities were good and I headed off snorkelling but wished I had more time to stay and explore the area. It just looked beautiful.. David, the owner runs a very organised business here and I'm so impressed with the whole aspect of a lodge which in my view offers a 5 star service with the relaxed atmosphere of being at home

Room Tip: I think it was number 3 or 5.. Fab cabin tucked away.. I could move in tomorrow!

I wanted to find accommodations in a place that was comfortable yet a bit rustic in an off-the-beaten path kind of area. I thought Las Caletas fit the bill perfectly! The place is run very efficiently by a small team of laid-back yet dedicated staff and owners who find the right balance of attending to their guests' needs while letting them relax and enjoy the various activities that present themselves right there on their gorgeous property or at the nearby beach or adjacent trails and parks. We particularly loved the hammock that had an unsurpassed view of the bay, the monkeys and sloth we saw from the beach (the best beach we encountered in all of Costa Rica!), the boat ride from Sierpe through magnificent winding mangrove swamps, and the wonderful food and smoothies they made for our kids. We stayed in the duplex and found it to be comfortable and convenient. Just the experience I had been hoping for...thanks, Las Caletas!

Room Tip: I recommend the duplex if you want a bit more comfort and luxury and space. I heard that the tent c...

We stayed here for 4 days in February 2014 in the Honeymoon Cabin. The Honeymoon Cabin sat on top of the hill overlooking the ocean. the view was just beautiful. We had parrots and scarlet mccaws, toucans flying in and around the trees everywhere. This place was amazing and very peaceful. The staff was wonderful and the owner David was very helpful with arranging everything for us that we needed. We did a snorkeling tour to Cano Island and hiked Corcovado Park. The naturalist guides Greg and Carlos we had for our tours were excellent. My husband went fishing with John from the lodge and he had a great time! We did not want to leave this wonderful place. We will definitely be back!!!!!!!
