“Trip April 5-10”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

Just an amazing trip, many Thanks to Jose and Tom and the rest of the staff. A truly memorable experience.Everything went as planned, the Tent Camp was a beautiful location and the excursions to Cano Island and Corcovado Park were truly a great experience. I would highly recommend it for anyone planning a trip to Costa Rica.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights in Corcovado tent camp. The tents were very nice with electricity! We had a full view of the ocean. Celso and the rest of the staff were awesome. The grounds were clean without being sterile. The path from the camp leads to one beautiful white sand beach after another - with hardly anyone there
The snorkeling was great, we saw so many fish, it was thrilling. The main highlight was the national park. We saw tabors, peccaries, 4 types of monkeys, a sloth, macaws, and reef sharks.
If you want to see wildlife and unspoiled nature, all at a reasonable price, this is the place to go!

Room Tip: Best room is the closest to the ocean.

Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp is really a delight but be ready for just letting your hair down and enjoying the down-to-earth atmosphere here. Accessing the property is by boat taxi, down a river and across a bay to the beach where the camp is located. Local boat captains shuttle guests and supplies back and forth between the Corcovado properties and Sierpe. There are no docks, so to disembark from the shuttle boat, roll up your pants and jump off into the surf and up onto the beach with your belongings.
Accommodations consist of platform tents with two beds and a night stand, a bare electric bulb for light and a fan to keep the air moving inside the tent. All tents face onto the beautiful beach for a great view as you sit on the front porch of your tent. Dining is communal and the schedule is flexible depending on the time of guest's activities. The food is great considering that the place is not close to anything and all of the provisions are brought in by boat. Three meals a day are provided and if there is an activity over the lunch time, a generous sack lunch will be provided with orders taken for sandwiches the night before. If you have special dietary needs, they will accommodate requests. Beer and mixed drinks are available at the small but well-stocked bar.
The personal facilities are communal with a bank of sinks in a common area flanked by individual showers and toilets. The water never really got warm for the showers which are basically open air, but the tropical air temperatures never made the showers seem cold. Clean towels are provided as well as housekeeping for the tents. At the time we were there, free-standing cabins were being built above the tent camp next to a viewing platform as an alternative to being in the tents on the beach.
Keep your eye out for white-face monkeys and birds of all kinds. We were entertained by a troupe of monkeys just off the beach as they feasted, carrying babies on their backs, chasing each other and swinging from the tree branches. Be prepared for seeing all kinds of insects, both small stinging insects and some that are as big as lemons. Bring sunscreen and bug dope and apply both frequently.
An hour's boat trip will take you to Corcovado National Park, an unbelievable place teeming with wildlife and gorgeous scenery. We had a knowledgeable guide who took us through the trails within the area of the Sirena Ranger Station and logged over thirty kinds of animals and birds in the half-day hike. On the boat trip to and from the Park, ocean birds and dolphins keep you entertained if you can keep your eyes off the scenery.
If you are looking for a different experience than high-rise luxury hotels and enjoy hospitality, good food and all that the Osa Peninsula has to offer, I would highly recommend a visit to the Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp.

Room Tip: All of the tents available are basically the same, just situated differently in their orientation to...

The Tent Camp is the perfect place for people who dream of staying in the tropical rainforest, in a more adventurous way. The place has around 20 platforms tents which are really comfortable and offer electricity, a fan, a small deck with views ( mine had ocean view ) and real beds. The tent camp also has a restaurant and bar ( food is great by the way, we had a large fish for dinner called Wahoo ), oven backed potatoes, salad and juice. The camp is located even further south of Drake Bay. If you don’t want to go on the trip to the Island of Isla del Cano or Sirena ( which I personally highly recommend )m, then there are other fun things to do at the camp, one for example walking to the river mouth of Rio Claro, just around d 1 hour south of the camp. The staff at the camp is also great. Celso and Keith ( 1 Costa Rican and 1 North American ) run the camp and really look out for you. We booked a package which included transportation from the river town of Sierpe, around 1 and a half hour north of Drake Bay. The deal included all meals, a trip to the Corcovado National Park and the Sirena Park Ranger Station and a trip to the Isla of Cano. We booked an extra night at the end so we stayed for 4 nights instead of 3. We really enjoyed our stay, and it it fulfilled an old dream of ours to experience a tropical rainforest adventure.

Stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed for more gladly, there are so many things to do in that area that there is never enough time. The Tent Camp is really comfortable and clean, there are enough bathrooms ans showers for everyone, each tent has 2 beds, a fan, light(really useful at night), you can use their kayaks and explore, or go for a walk to the closest beach without leaving the camp, there is also internet access and more facilities than I was expecting, also they have cabins with private bathroom and a beautiful view if you prefer that, the staff will go out of their way to make you feel as comfortable as they can. The hike in Corcovado National Park is great, the guides are really knowledgeable and that will allow you to appreciate even more the rain forest. I look forward to visit the area again staying a couple extra nights.

Room Tip: All the tents are pretty much the same but some are closest to the beach and restaurant, also you ca...

From Thursday, January 17, 2013 until Monday, January 21, 2013, I had the pleasure of staying at Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp. This was pure paradise, for me - for I am a person that really appreciates a real tropical rain forest adventure. I'm not saying its for everyone. Yes, you do sleep in tents, but they are well screened and have electrical outlets and a fan. Each tent is under a canopy so that if it rains, none of the rain water actually touches the tent. If the idea of sleeping in a tent without television is not for you, the staff would likely prefer that you choose another place. I DID NOT come to the paradise of Corcovado, Costa Rica, however, to watch TV! I came to experience the wonders of the tropical rainforest. Those who are addicted to their electronic gadgets will be glad to know that you can plug your device in and get on the internet with no problem, so you can communicate your experience with those back home as they happen. You are served three excellent full meals per day and this is included in the charge. Best of all, the guided tours which you can take from here are superb! There is a hiking tour in Corcovado National Park, which is the most biodiverse park in Costa Rica which was fabulous. We saw birds such as toucans, scarlet macaws and hawks, mammals such as spider monkeys and peccaries, amphibians such as poison dart frogs, and reptiles, including a variety of lizards and crocodiles down where the rivers meet the ocean. Then they offer a snorkeling/scuba diving trip out to Isla dos Cano, where the water visibility was 40 feet. The staff is very friendly, personable and attentive to your needs. Tell "Wildcat" that I sent you!

Room Tip: Don't orry about choosing a good room. There are no bad rooms! For views, check their website.

Randy 408,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience for others to read. We appreciate it very much. You are absolutely right, we do not have tv's or a/c in our tents but this is the exact reason the majority of people stay with us. We are a tent camp in the jungle.

We are very happy you enjoyed our meals, service, and our tours. We do our best to provide high quality equipment and highly experienced and trained guides. We thank you again for your review and hope to have you stay with us again.

Stayed for the 3 night package - fantastic place. Beautiful location right on the coast and a scenic boat ride away from Corcovado National Park. Tents with beds were clean and a fan helped with the heat & humidity. Hammocks by the tents had great views of the ocean. Food was good, plenty of it. Facilites a short walk away from tents and very clean - note that the wildlife do visit the showers/toilets but it is an Adventure Camp! Brilliant staff -very welcoming and helpful. Great guided trip into NP - saw so much wildlife not seen elsewhere in CR. A great place to do some activities or to just chill in hammocks, chat with fellow adventure travellers and reeeelax. Wished we could have stayed longer and would love to return someday.

Liz G,
Thanks you for sharing your experience for future guests to read. We do get some critters in our regularly cleaned bathroom facilities. The most common being toads, frogs, and of course insects. We are happy you saw lots of animals and enjoyed your stay with us.

We hope to have you stay with again. Thank you again for your review and pura vida
