My boyfriend and I stayed there for one night and we want to go back. We loved the view from our room. It is a very peaceful place. We met the owners and they are very friendly. I definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: All the rooms have a great view.

We loved it here. Our lodge had fantastic views over the lake to the volcanoes, we saw fantastic sunsets and electric storms between the volcanoes. The food was great and the staff friendly. The rooms are simple and that was just fine. The three hundred steps were not to bad we just had lots of stops. We hiked to Santa Cruz and returned by boat. The views were beautiful, we went on our own and all the locals we met were friendly but we did find out later that a guide is recommended. We would love the opportunity to stay here again.

Room Tip: All the rooms would have fantastic views.

We stayed here for 2 nights in March 204.

The rooms are large and although basic the view makes us up for it. The view from the rooms is something amazing and watching sunrise from your balcony was an experience to remember. The restaurant is good and also benefits from a great view of the lake and mountain.

The staff are incredibly helpful and the owners are very welcoming and clearly passionate about giving back to the local community.

The walk up from the boat dock to the hotel is not too bad and take a few minutes.

We planned to stay 2 nights only but ended up staying 5. As matter of fact, we changed our plans and returned to the lake only to stay again at this piece of heaven called Lomas.
Sitting on the porch of each one of the rooms, you can enjoy stupendous, panoramic views of the lake and the volcanoes surrounding it.
All rooms are spacious, and differ only by the number of persons they sleep. Beds are big and comfortable; huge windows allow you to absorb the view without leaving bed. Hot water is available 24/7.
Outside the room, you can enjoy a beautiful pool and listen only to the delicate sound of birds. Food is simple and delicious and the service is perfect. The private boat dock below the hotel is a great diving platform to the crystal clear lake water, and after swimming you could work on your tan on the adjacent grass terrace.
The owners, Maria and Therry, are so nice you would want to stay and live with them. Please don't be intimidated by the stairs up from the dock - the climb is sure worth it! Note the hotel would be happy to help carry your luggage or arrange for a pickup from the nearby village.
Already want to come back...

If you need action and cyberspace, do not go there. This is a place to let the turmoil of the world behind and absorb the beauty of the lake. One takes a boat in Panajachel (Q25) to Lomas de Tzununa (let one of the "boat promoter" direct you to the right "lancha": they are paid by the boat owner). You are dropped directly on the private pier of the hotel. NUse the intercom to tell the hotel, 350 steps above, that you have arrived and ask to have somebody come to help with the luggage. They will ask how many do you have as they will send one porter per luggage.
I had made the booking through booking com 2 days previous and it has not been processed by them yet so they did not have a reservation for me. Fortunately there were not full. For $82 a night $92 with 22% taxes, you have your very private bungalow with huge sliding door and a large balcony with an incomparable view. Very basic continental Breakfast included. Fruits would be a nice touch . For about 2$ one can add eggs and another 2$ for bacon etc....
I like the simple large room with no embellishment to distract from the beauty of the lake. Actually, even in 4 stars hotels, we scrambled to find a place for two suitcases (one usually finishes on a desk) but here there is a large bench to accommodate them. No hairdryer and only one hanger. it was not a problem for us. The room has a safe.
Solar heat for water was hot one day, tepid the other (cloudy day ). Owner did put the electric water heater on. Electricity was out one morning. Nice pool, weather permitting .
No wifi in the rooms and fluctuating in the dining room.
Yes, you can go cheaper on many inns around the lake, but the calm and the view have a price and as long as it stays around this price, I consider it a good value (the sticker price in the room says max $150 and this is too much) There is no other place to get your meals which are reasonably priced and everything is fresh. Even the mashed potatoes are made from scratch . Avoid the tough tasteless chicken peppian and go for the delicious steak with black pepper sauce. The fish filet from the lake was also very good albeit a bit overcooked.
One of the owner showed up the last evening (out of 2) The smiling local help probably do not speak English. (I even did not try). This is an eco friendly hotel with a community responsibility and I suspect through the room information folio that they take themselves very seriously. Maybe a tad too much ! Nice guitar music background I think from the owner own recording.
Because Mayan women are usually shy, the welcome on arrival is not warm and fuzzy. Maybe a little more training is needed there. To see a real Guatemalan village, hike down 20 mn to Tzununa. Do not forget to ask permission to take pictures. Some will say no. We were discouraged to hike the path to Santa Cruz because it was a Sunday and there was a safety concern for lack of other foot traffic.
We took the boat to the next village over and hike from there to Santa Cruz (1/2h).

Room Tip: All the bungalows have a view, if you do not like stairs, ask for one near the main lodge .

There aren't any words that can truly describe this stay other than BREATH TAKING. The 350 steps you take when you get there seem like you may have made a mistake, however, once you are at the top, you have arrived in paradise. We were greeted by Alicia who without even having the correct night reservation took my wife and I to our room- WOW I didn't want to leave, the view from the balcony is of the three volcanoes and the lake- NOTHING compares to this beauty and you get the whole view from your room- The food (chef Andres) was outstanding and Maria the owner was not there when we arrived and was out of towen, but she called to make sure everything was ok with my stay, and wanted to make sure about my length of my stay to insure I was taken care of and no problems. This will be where we stay each time we are at Lake in Santa Cruz- Geraldo

I took a group of 12 adults, all over the age of 50, and we had a very enjoyable 2 night stay. Yes the steps can be a little intimidating, but the view and the hospitality waiting at the top are very much worth it. And you can skip the steps and Thierry will pick you up at a close by dock. Reasonable prices, excellent food and drink, and a view unparalleled of Lake Atitan and the 3 volcanoes await the visitor here. For 21 years I have visited this area and never have I been more thrilled with the accommodations or awed by the view than I was here. Marty Kanne

Room Tip: All rooms have a staggering view of the lake and volcanos.
