“Best Restaurant in 50 miles!”
Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

This restaurant has some of the best food, there's something for everyone. The staff were very polite and knowledgeable. The scene is the best, both indoors and out.

“Best Mexican cuisine”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

I traveled to Tubac Golf Resort to relax and play golf. We saw some advertisement for Elvira's and check it our our last night. It was incredible. The food and service we priceless. The "house" margaritas were made with Don Julio and extremely delicious.

“Not your ordinary Mexican Food”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Don't look for tacos on the menu, they're not on it. My wife had a chicken mole dinner and remarked that the rice and chicken were delicious. She got a large serving serving; no skimping on portions. On the other hand, I tried a completely new dish for me- flank steak molcajete in a salsa verde. It came with guacamole, beans and tortillas. Similar to steak fajita but served in a pipping hot lava looking bowl with a scrumptious sauce with huge pieces of steak and cheese. And the house margarita was the best one I have ever had in a restaurant. The bananas desert, Caribbean Treat, topped off the meal- we shared it. The service was outstanding from the time we entered until we left. Would definitely eat here again.

“Good food, Spotty service, High prices”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

Some friends and I dined here this week and found the restaurant a semi-pleasant experience. Our meals were very good ranging from chili rellenos, mole, fried fish to ribeye. We all enjoyed the food. The 50 cent tequila shots are a good start (One to a customer) and the margaritas are excellent. My only complaint is the service. It seems to vacillate between hovering and being ignored. Our server seemed obsessed with clearing our table, coming back at least three times to see if we were "done working". (I hate that expression. It isn't a job.) But, once cleared she disappeared for ten minutes while we waited for dessert menus. We passed on dessert and asked for a check. Four guys and she brings one check. Come on. Didn't even ask. Elvira's is definitely an upscale Mexican restaurant. The food is good. The prices are a little high, but with good service it wouldn't seem an issue. Service seems to be their bugaboo. Attention management, training is your job. Let's focus on the customer.

“Good food and a beautiful restaurant--but what happened to our server?”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

Myself and 3 friends were promptly shown to a table and our server was prompt with order taking, and the food arrived timely. A nice menu with a very nice selection of Mexican cuisine not ordinarily found in Mexican restaurants, and the food is delicious. But then the server disappeared and we had to wait an inordinate amount of time to receive the check. This was surprising because the place was not very busy. Other than this, dining at Elvira's is an experience. A beautifully decorated restaurant with a very nice ambience, and I would certainly return.
