“Great Breakfast”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

If you are heading toward the Grand Canyon I highly recommend an over night stay before heading to the rim. The reason is the crowds. With a stay at the hotel just 7 miles south of the rim, and 1.5 miles from the entrance, you can grab a great breakfast including (when we were there) sausage, bacon, fresh danish, eggs with cheese, cereal etc.. Then make an early entrance to the canyon. If you enter the south rim area it gets packed after 10 am so parking gets farther and farther back from the rim. We made it in at 8:30 and got right to the entrance at Mather. The staff here was excellent with canyon details including sunrise, sunsets, tour options etc. Rooms were clean, bathroom was a bit small as sinks were on the outside of the tub area. Ample parking. Heated Indoor pool and whirlpool. Price however is very high for an over night stop. But the trip was great and beat the crowds. Worth it in our opinion. Yes we will stay here next time.

Ok, so first I want to say? I didn't pay for this night. I'm very thankful they offered to refund my money. This was the worst night of our trip. Yes it was clean thank the Lord! But we didn't sleep, the constant slamming of the doors (even house keeping) had to request refrigerator and there was no microwave. So they brought up a fridge. Then our heat didn't work, finally called down and they sent guy back up. the cord was unplugged. but thermostat was on wall. Just a off stay :( we were so tired and wish had been better.

Stayed for 1 night in early april , the room was ok once we had managed to check-in which took around 30 mins , 1 person on the desk at 4pm was not ideal. Breakfast was worst I have ever had , plastic eggs is the only way I can describe it , trying to sit in an area not big enough to cater for the amount of guests was not a good start to the day . Thank god for the location.

This hotel is situated very close to the entrance to the park which was very convenient. The room we had was good, with very comfortable beds and free breakfast! I would definitely stay here again. Staff were generally cheerful and helpful.

Room Tip: Convenient location for the Grand Canyon.

My husband and I recently stayed here while visiting the Grand Canyon. We were unable to find an available room in the park, so this hotel had to suffice. It exceeded my expectations, with the volume of people staying here during their Grand Canyon vacations it is amazing that the hotel staff can keep up with their guests. The hotel breakfast is included in the room rate and is quite substantial. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable after completing a long day of hiking. I highly recommend this hotel to others that are looking for accommodations near the park entrance.

We stay at only IHG hotels and decided to use our reward nights for this property. Where do I start? I booked 2 reward nights using points and had confirmations showing 2 free nights, yet they pre authorized $127.15 for my rewards nights, claimed it was a coding error. The walls are paper thin, you will hear everything and I mean everything. The fridge was hot when we got there, I called the front desk and told them it appeared to be turned off, I said I would turn it on and they said try that and call back if that didn't work and they would call maintenance. We found out why it was off..it wheezed like a sick cat, sounded strange. We decided to for go the fridge and use our cooler. When we went to take a shower we found long black hair stuck to the inside of the shower curtain. The breakfast was not upto the HIE standard, the sausage gravy wasnt even warm, I don't know if it was because we were in the annex across the street from the main hotel and the attendant was working both this breakfast area and the one in the main hotel. I have stayed in IHG properties from Canada to Florida and all over the country and had truly wonderful stays, but this has been my only poor review ever of an IHG property. As a Platinum Elite member, they did upgrade the room at checkin, but from there the stay went downhill. If coming back to the area, I will not stay here again.

We stayed here the end of March for one night. During trip we had stayed at three other Holiday Inns. This one was the most expensive and we were disappointed in quality and service. Room was smaller then the others we stayed at. Pool was cold and no towels. Also whirlpool did not correctly work. Breakfast was okay. The hot items were cold. Overall, we expected more for a hotel that was almost $200.00 a night.
