“Great place”
Reviewed 25 June 2012

For a rural hotel with good access to the grand canyon, this is great. Hence the high score. But don't expect frills. The rooms are basic but have everything you could need. The reception area and restaurants are very smart and modern, but other areas are a little tired looking.
The staff are very helpful, our waiter (Jesus) couldn't have been nicer. And the tourist guide man was also great and gave us lots of advice on what to do and see.
Would stay here again.

We found this hotel to be just right for our family of four. Large double room with room for a cot. Just outside park gates with pool, AC, bowling, video arcade, laundry facilities. Free breakfast included. There is a nice restaurant as well as a dinner buffet which we used both evenings for $16.95. The food was good, not fine dining, but good food after a long hot day. After seeing the lodges in the park I would highly recommend staying here instead. Nice to have the AC and pool and cool public spaces after a hot, dusty day at the canyon. The park shuttle bus service stops at the hotel so during busy times, no need to bring your car into the the park. There is also an IMAX theater walking distance which could be perfect for a late afternoon respite from the heat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building.

Reasonably priced, can book on short notice (unlike the park hotels!) & had everything I needed: micro, fridge, kuerig-type coffee maker, wi-fi, iphone dock for tunes, hair dryer, flat screen (TV remote cleaned w/ every occupant, no less). Beds had comfy mattress toppers w/ better-than-basic sheets. Room very clean & kept that way by staff. Bathroom recently redone w/ granite countertops, good lighting & grab bars. Clean rubber bathmat, toiletries & towels replenished daily. Lots of (apparently) new pillows, and a lower back bumper to make TV watching or reading from bed comfortable. Carpets were new in our room. Windows opened to catch am/pm breeze. Free buffet breakfast until 10 am had huge variety, was well presented and of good quality. You will not starve even if u are vegetarian (grains, yogurt and fruit all there) & local mexican restaurant serves good beans/rice. Make no mistake, this is not the back country-cars, RVs, buses everywhere, but the place was surprisingly quiet at night, prob b/c everyone was exhausted by then. Shuttle to the park runs every 20min & stops at the hotel, and runs until 10 pm i think. I'd recommend this hotel for grand canyon visits.

Room Tip: I'd ask for (1) a second floor room that (2) has been recently renovated, that (3) does not get...

With the exception of the hotel on highway 19 in West Virginia which is basic at best, and not overly pleasant-smelling or clean, I found the Best Westerns I visited in Utah, California, Arizona & Nevada to be excellent with fridge, micro wave & large comfortable beds

We enjoyed everything about this hotel except the filthy room carpets. The front desk did allow us to view two other rooms, but the carpet in them was all equally bad - stained and filthy. The rooms also have a very musty odor, all three we looked at and the one we stayed in. If they have not put in new carpet in the rooms, then avoid this place if you can find one with clean rooms. Wifi also is a total joke. You will NOT get it to work and the 'business center' internet access is VERY slow as well. God help you if you want or need to check any emails quickly. Breakfast buffet is okay, but don't eat the biscuits or gravy as it appears they recycle it every day.

Spent 2 nights here. Comfortable, clean hotel Reception staff friendly & welcoming. Rooms a little dated but spacious & perfectly adequate.Located just down the road from the Canyon, frequent shuttle buses stop close by. Breakfast included, average but plenty of choice it did feel a bit like a school canteen as loads of kids, plastic crockery & a bit frantic. Ate twice in Coronado restaurant which was pretty good, very pleasant staff & surroundings. Small pool with plenty of loungers. Good place to visit Grand Canyon. If you are visiting several national parks it's worth buying an annual pass.

We stayed one night on our way from Vegas to the grand canyon. Good location if you wish to do a morning helicopter ride over the canyon as the airport is just down the road. Rooms are simpe but well maintained and clean. Nothing very exciting. The staircase needs work on the carpet however. I think some upgrades are in progress. A lot of bus tours stay here so it is quite busy but accomodating. Buffet breakfast was good with a great selection of fresh produce as well as hot food. We also ate dinner at the Buffett downstairs. It was simple yet enjoyable. Good service at the restaurant. We used the laundry which was fine but busy. The pool was lovely and very inviting and the gardens were in beautiful condition. Nice souvineer shop that is not over the top in price. Would stay here again if I could not get accomodation in the park.
