“What a Surprise!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014

After careful planning - we decided on this property due to it's location, near the south entrance of GCNP. The staff was efficient and friendly, but the biggest surprise was the room. It was spacious - so much larger than the average hotel in this category....it had a refrigerator and a microwave. The beds were very very comfortable and the bathroom very very large. We got a great price, and were extremely happy with the accommodations. Free breakfast in the morning can get crowded, so get down early. Food was replenished constantly and was hot and fresh. Probably the best food in Tusayan - because everything else is basically fast food - yech! I'd stay again and have been telling everyone about this little gem in Tusayan.

Room Tip: The whole place was very very quiet. I always ask for a room furthest from the elevator, to prevent...

Stayed one night, April 1st. Accommodations in 1200 building were very nice. Older hotel, however updated. Interesting pictures from years past in the room. A lot of things at the hotel for families; bowling alley, game room, etc. Spent limited time at the hotel. However did take in the "happy hour" in the sports lounge with intentions of getting something to eat. There were 3 people working the lounge which wasn't a problem when we first arrived, however within minutes every table was filled with families. (4-6 people each) with a total of approximately 50 people total. The young bartender appeared to be doing wait service on the tables as well as bartending. There was one other young man trying to wait and another girl "busing" only. We felt sorry for the bartender as it was overwhelming for her to take care of everyone and people were getting upset. However, she kept a very positive attitude and was very nice to everyone. We ended up leaving and not eating there as it appeared it would be a long wait. Nothing against the employees, however managers should have planned better.
Breakfast buffet is very nice. Lots of variety, hot, cold foods and a lot of seating.
Overall a good stay at a nice property. Would recommend.

First time to the Grand Canyon, did not know what to expect, knew Best Westerns were reliable. They Exceeded expectations.Close to the park. Had a great time bowling. Great staff and the rooms were great. I would stay at this Best Western again.

The room was very large, and there was room for a cot as well. We were not "tripping" over each other to move around in the room. The additional sink in the room, helped with bathroom sharing. The beds were very comfortable. At the time of booking I didn't realize that there was a bowling alley at this property. My boys were thrilled, as we had been travelling and sightseeing a lot, so it was a welcomed break for my boys. The property is close to the park entrance. The restaurant in the hotel is five-star! I really enjoyed sitting by the real wood fireplace in the lounge area. Highly recommend!

Our room was comfortable and clean. It's a nice looking complex, unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try out anything. The power was knocked out in the entire area for 5 hours just after we arrived.
I would recommend this Inn to everybody.

The restaurant and room were excellent. We enjoyed the Sunset Special at the restaurant. The rooms were large and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. This is a great place to stay when visiting the Grand Canyon.

We booked through Orbitz and were expecting a room like the photos you find on the hotel's website. When we checked in, we were told we had an efficiency room. I didn't remember that from booking through Orbitz, but when I checked my confirmation, it did say in small print that we had a small room. Small is correct. The room had a full bed, a small table, and a dresser, which took up the majority of the space. We barely had room to put our luggage anywhere. That being said, we were only there for 12 hours and just needed a place to sleep. It easily served that purpose.

Other than being small, the room was pretty nice. It had clearly been updated recently. The only things that weren't updated were the front door, which had a very utilitarian feel to it, and the tile in the bathroom (floor and walls).

I think this would be a good option for families as there's a small, but nice bowling alley and arcade in the basement.

The most annoying part of our stay was a rude front desk person. I had booked the hotel, but was driving so my husband tried to check us in. First, she couldn't find the reservation and then she told him he couldn't check us in. So, I had to go in. Luckily, I had a more friendly person who easily found the reservation and got us checked in quickly.

The best part of our stay was the breakfast buffet. It was extensive and everything tasted good. There was also plenty of room. I'm used to hotels where the breakfast area is crammed into a little corner, but they had a whole banquet room dedicated to it.

The other nice thing about the hotel is the location. It's only a few minutes from the gate to the Grand Canyon.

Overall, it's pretty pricey for what you're getting. But, if you think it's worth paying more to be close to the Grand Canyon, then this could be a good match for you.
