Bula,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review - we really appreciate it. We can't identify you I'm afraid, but we are happy that you enjoyed the swimming pool and our close proximity to all the surf spots.

We're also glad that you enjoyed our amazing staff and some good relaxation time.

Our family of 4 loved this little resort. The small size made it feel really comfortable and created a real connection among guests and between guests and the staff. You feel like you are a part of the Waidroka Bay Family by the time you leave. What truly makes this place special is the incredibly friendly and hospitable staff and excellent surf and dive guides. Oh and did I mention the food is terrific. Since I am not a surfer or diver I enjoyed lounging by the pool but was wishing for a sandy beach or for someone to come offer me a cocktail by the pool! The bures are nice enough, nothing fancy by any means but comfortable. They could be improved with better lighting, especially by the bedside for reading. The kava ceremony night was really special. Having a pool table, volleyball court and t.v. playing surf videos entertained our teenage boys plus they were pretty tired from all the boat rides out to the reef to snorkel, fish and surf.

My husband got cut up by the coral reef while surfing and the managers of the resort were very helpful and professional in helping him connect with a local doctor to go get stitches. They had good first aid skills and cleaned up his cuts super well then put us in a cab to go to the village doctor. We would have been lost without their help.

Bula Jonna, Reid, Garrett & Grant,

Firstly Jonna, Thank you kindly for taking the time to write the review - we appreciate your feedback and as always welcome opportunities to improve our service all round - so thank you very much.

Next time you come, we promise you will have cocktails brought to you by the pool. You'll also be happy to know that the Bure's are getting bit of a face-lift and improving the bedside lights was definitely a priority!

We are really glad your family enjoyed your stay with us - we certainly enjoyed hosting you here at Waidroka Bay Resort. To be fair, we felt like part of your family here during your stay - so it works both ways :) We are glad though, that you appreciated our 'home away from home' style - It's what makes this place special.

Alvin and the girls in the kitchen are happy indeed that you enjoyed their food - they do a great job and deserve to always get a mention :)

Everybody here hopes that Reid's 'Fiji Tattoo' is not to prevalent - he managed to get out and surf again before he left which was awesome..

Vinaka Vakelevu to you all..

My family and I spent a week at Waidroka in June. The diving here is simply spectacular, with abundant fish life both large and small, a wonderful array of soft and hard corals and wreck diving too! The Beqa shark dive is an absolute must; an overwhelming shark experience, up close and personal!!
The dive operation is very professionally run by Brooke and Tristan; dives thoroughly briefed and well led, great equipment and nicely organised boats. Having my family all diving, safety is paramount and this was evident in the whole operation. We also did one trip with the managers, Kirsten and Paul who were also excellent divemasters.
There was ample time to relax in the afternoons after diving in the comfortable and clean bures; all had lovely ocean views too.
The communal dining room was a highlight with the opportunity to chat with other guests and Waidroka staff. People are either there to surf and/or dive, which makes for great like minded conversation. I would agree with another reviewer, from what I saw, the surf here is not for beginners.
The food was adequate and plentiful.
Afternoon volleyball games with other guests and staff (thanks Nani!!) was another highlight.
All up an action packed holiday that could still be very relaxing as well.

Bula Geoff, Kathy, Maddy & Andrew :)

Firstly - thank you so much for taking the time to write a review - we all really appreciate it.

I remember Kathy saying whilst she was here that as soon as her head popped out from under the water she felt so happy that she had just done that dive - and she felt that way about every dive! You all did get some exceptional diving in, that is for sure and you made sure you tried out all our different spots - Soft corals at Yanuca, hard corals at Frigates and Big fish at the shark dive - it doesn't get much better than that for variety.

We're also happy that you enjoyed your dry time with us as well - you certainly kept yourselves busy with Kayaks and paddle boards and walks - none of us could keep up with you all - apart from Maybe Nanise on the volleyball court ;) But we are glad that you did get to relax a bit as well - after all, you are on vacation.

Tell Andrew that his video is great and we've all been watching it in the office over the past couple of weeks... and wish him luck with his Dive Master too!

A big Vinaka Vakelevu from all the staff here - everybody here at Waidroka is really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
It would be nice to have you all here again someday.

I stayed four days at Waidroka while my boyfriend surfed. The staff was amazing--very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I enjoyed the cozy dinners with other guests and some of the staff, conversing and learning of other places. However, I would not recommend if you're not an advanced surfer or a diver. These waves are not for intermediate-beginner surfers. If you want to take a day tour, it's about an hr and half cab ride to Sigatoka and you'll essentially spend 3 hrs in a cab just get to a tour bus and back. It's far from most things so you'll be a captured audience with options to snorkel, kayak or paddle board. The huts are not luxurious and the cleanliness is questionable. I got stung by a hornet even after killing three of them inside the hut. My entire body broke out in hives from some allergens so I recommend bringing tons of benadryl if prone to allergies.

Bula Hylee,

Firstly - thank you very much for taking the time to write your review - we all really appreciate it here :)

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay here overall and especially enjoyed our 'home away from home' feel around the dinner table - there is nothing quite like it elsewhere.

We apologize for not meeting all of your expectations and hope that it didn't affect your stay with us overall. Unfortunately, waves are dependent on conditions and sometimes, waves are beyond the comfort level of some surfers - even advanced ones, but that isn't true all of the time - when the swell is smaller and the period longer, intermediate-beginner surfers can have a lot of fun on our breaks and always leave better surfers than they arrived.

Unfortunately, the caves and cave tour are in Sigatoka - if you remember, you were originally booked on a tour out of Pacific Harbour (which is only 25 minutes away), however they did cancel your booking. We managed to get you on the tour in Sigatoka that very morning and I am sure that you will agree that the tour was worth the journey :)

Apologies again for you getting stung by a wasp. We are in the rain forest and at certain times of the year we have more of them around. We find that if we don't swat them or try to kill them then they leave us alone and do not sting. Every room has a can of spray and the housekeepers do a great job daily of making sure they are kept to a minimum.

We appreciate all of your comments as they will help us to improve and ensure that we can provide a better product and service in the future, so thank you kindly.

We hope your move went well and you are enjoying Hawaii...

We stayed in the Delux Beach Villa and thought it was perfect for us as a family .Clean and well appointed. The surf guide and staff were super friendly and made the stay for the whole family really pleasant. If your looking for a real Fijian resort stay (not a tacky movie set vibe) then these guys do it well. Heaps of great surf spots to enjoy too.

Waidroka is a friendly, fun resort that is small enough to feel intimate. I was there for a week recently for my wreck diver certification. Tristin and Brooke were great dive masters and I learned a lot about sunken ships. Tristin also had some great ideas for further trips. The shark dive was also fun and I now feel I understand these predators better than I did. I also went on a couple of surf trips with Eduardo who was very patient with me. So overall the outdoor life here was fun and the staff really try to ensure that you are taking advantage of all everything on offer. The accommodation was also perfect. Quiet and well appointed it was thoughtfully designed to sleep away the afternoons if you needed to. Nanise also took me for a wonderful tour of her local village and school. Beautiful people and an amazing school. Finally, a thanks to Kirsti and Paul for making sure everything ran like clockwork! A happy, easy, low key resort for those escaping the mass market.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views.

We spent a fabulous week at Waidroka - 5 days diving and a couple of days just chilling around the resort. The diving spots we went to were great, quite varied, with abundant coral (hard and soft) in good condition and lots of marine life of all shapes and sizes. Big sharks, turtles, praying mantis shrimp and everything in between. The staff are fabulous, everyone is made to feel so welcome and part of the family. Vinaka Waidroka Team!

Room Tip: Ocean view bures are great, nicely tucked away in the gardens.
