“Hotel OK, but construction was a problem”
Reviewed 5 July 2011

The Hotel was clean and green but the construction of the hotel was a problem for parking and getting in and out of the hotel. The beds were clean and comfortable but the cost was too much for nothing but a bed. Close proximity to the railroad station was nice but we still had to drive or walk for food since we didn't want a buffet. The buffet was all that was offered by the hotel.

The hotel is nice, they were doing some construction when we visited and had to move our room but they gave us a price discount which was nice. It was a little expensive and much better of an offer when paired with the train tickets. Pool was small but nice, hot tub very nice after a long day of hiking! Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice, average. It was nice to do it all-inclusive because the next morning we walked over the the restaurant and had an amazing breakfast buffet and then walked next door to the train depot.

Stayed at the hotel 2 nights and found it to be an average hotel. The room was quiet, clean, and adequate in size. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the room which would have been a pleasant addition. One of the front desk staff recommended a restaurant in town that we thought was awful. We didn't have any better luck at another restaurant in town so we settled on one breakfast and one dinner at the Depot Buffet which was OK. If you're taking the train, it's a convenient hotel.

Really liked the accommodations, rooms were clean, and in working order. A bit pricey, but compared to the other hotels/motels in town, its the best. Sorry staff...you service was great, but the buffet food was awful. The pasta bar was about the only thing we all liked...Skip the buffet and eat at Pine Country Diner. We had lunch there and we should have gone back!

Nice hotel. We booked the AAA package that included dinners, breakfast and the train ride to the Grand Canyon. The hotel and food was very good. Kind of surprised it was as good as it was when I heard it was a buffet. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Only stayed for one night as part of west coast tour. If you're looking for luxury, forget it, but it was comfortable and clean. I was too tired to partake, but my husband had a very good breakfast buffet at the back of the hotel near to the railway station and we had an ok meal at the hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed the rail trip to the Grand Canyon and the so called cheesy cowboys (another review), but we are Brits brought up on TV westerns and John Wayne movies!! The Grand Canyon was spectacular but we wished that we had been allowed a lot longer there. If we go back we would like to stay in a cabin right next to the Canyon. The town of Williams was also a novelty for us and we had a nice steak in town before catching an overnight Amtrak train to LA (never again).

Nice place although they were refurbishing it while we were there. Although our room was clean, my sister's room had some issues. You only get a fridge if you order the deluxe room. Since we were driving across the country, this was a disappointment b/c we had to make sure we kept stuff cold with ice. The restaurant attached to the hotel wasn't good and wasn't bad. We only ate the breakfast there which was a full breakfast buffet. The kids ate well while others in our party disliked it greatly.
Check in was very slow partly b/c it was busy when we checked in and partly due to the clerk who was the only one of the front desk staff who answered the phone. It took us about 3 x as long as other people in other lines to check in.

We also rode the Grand Canyon RR for 2 hours out to the Grand Canyon. The cowboys in the Wild West Show and later train robbery were fun and nice. The show hasn't changed in the 10 years it has been since we were there before.
