“Poor service, no wifi, incompetent”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

We booked a room at this Motel 6 because it was less expensive than hotels in the nearby Flagstaff, the reviews were so-so, and it was close to the Grand Canyon.

When we checked in, we were given the wifi password. The password did not work and we were unable to get connected. We called the front desk a couple of times to try to resolve the issue. Finally we gave them three hours while we drove to Flagstaff to spend the afternoon. When we got back, the wifi still wasn't working so we went to McDonald's to attempt to get some work done. When we came back (this is a total of 6-7 hours later) the issue still was not fixed.

Furthermore, we noticed a discrepancy on our bill...the motel was charging us much much more than what we had the email confirmation for through Expedia. After being on the phone for Expedia for an hour and waiting for them to talk to the motel staff back and forth, we were declined the difference.

The motel walls are super thin and we were able to hear noises up and down the hall and from the neighboring rooms into all hours of the night. The room itself smelled musty and humid and the hallways smelled like beer.

The only reason I have rated this experience as "poor" instead of "terrible" is because the manager came in early the next morning to fix the issue. She fully refunded us our second night stay (we were adamant about leaving ASAP and getting a hotel in Flagstaff instead), finally fixed the price difference issue and credited that back to us (after a good 30-40 minutes), and gave us a discount for the first night's inconvenience.

Point of all this: Save yourself a headache and some time and just book a hotel in Flagstaff instead of Williams.

We were skeptic about motel 6 since we had not heard good things about the chain but this was the best option available at Williams, on way to the Grand Canyon. There is no lift to the second floor though and the corridors are really horrible. The room is amazing though. The furniture is modern, toilet is clean and there were toiletries. Dinner places are just a walk away so the place is great value and good area. Sleep quality was good too. Wifi gave us trouble though.

My 4 rating is based on my expectation. Located right on historic Route 66, our Motel 6 room was a quiet 2nd floor king bed unit. The furnishings were modern & minimal, giving it a clean European look. The floor was a wood-look vinyl, far preferable to carpet that isn't nearly so easy to clean. The wall-mounted TV included jacks to connect computers, etc. The vanity area included a raised modern sink & a cute contemporary cubbyhole area for towels, etc. Good lighting. Small toilet/tub/shower area. Booth-like corner chair w/built-in table/work area & an additional chair. Small shelf unit underneath an opening clothes-hanging area. Two built-on nightstands. Tons of outlets - both nightstands, near the shelves, above the table, under the TV, & in the vanity area. No hair dryer or ironing board or iron. We didn't participate, but the desk clerk said they did offer morning coffee and tea in the lobby.

My friend and I stayed at the Motel 6 Williams East around Xmas. It was a fine place to stay en route to the Grand Canyon.

SERVICE: Fine, although little was required.

VALUE: Great value for the area, and definitely compared to lodging at the Grand Canyon.

SLEEP QUALITY: Motel 6 beds are never going win any awards, but they will do the job.

CLEANLINESS: The room was clean and benefited from a recent remodel.

LOCATION: Despite the name, the hotel is on the west end of the town's main drag. You'll have a car, though, so everything will be within range.

ROOMS: I for one approve of the "European hostel" vibe that remodeled Motel 6 rooms are going for, but others may prefer a more traditional design.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Any memories of it will soon be forgotten once presented with the majesty of the Grand Canyon.

We went to Bearizona and wanted to stay overnight for the easter egg hunt the next day and it was ok. The outside looked fine, the lady at the desk was nice and check in was fast. Once we walked in though, my heart sank. The hallways were dirty and outdated, the carpet was disgusting. I was afraid what the rooms would look like. Fortunately they seemed to have done an update so the inside of the rooms were fine. They look a lot like the pictures, but the bathrooms didn't seem to have that same update. No carpet was nice, especially since we didn't know that this was a pet friendly hotel (I didn't do the research oops!) We still woke up stuffy because of the allergies. Unfortunately the dog across the hall barked a LOT and scared my kids. The beds were really hard and the water pressure was a joke. No elevator to our room was not very fun with 4 kids and no hubby with me. Overall it was just average.

We just left and I wanted to review the room. First of all do not judge a book by its cover. The hallways were a little worn, but secure. No outside access to the rooms which was nice. We parked our car under a carport that was next to the entrance to our stairwell. (If you can't handle stairs, ask for a ground floor room.) The nice surprise was when we opened the door to the room. Modern furniture. Flat screen tv. Clean bathroom. Laminate floors(great for our pets). The floors made the room so much cleaner. Beds were comfortable, linens were clean. I was very pleased. The Safeway store next door has a Starbucks. It's right on the historic route 66. Great price. Nice room. We will Definitely stay here again!

i usually have good luck with motel 6, but not this time. bed was very hard, at night when the heater turned on and off it sounded like a jet taking off, no coffee was made in the lobby, room was clean, but that was about the only thing that was ok. staff was not very friendly.
