This was a great choice for our "base camp" from which we toured the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Montezuma's Castle, etc. Was as close to home away from home as you could want. Nick and Claire have done a wonderful job of creating a lovely welcoming home. And their enthusiasm for sharing the best places to go was lovely. One spot was a little-known lookout at the Grand Canyon that was a full 270-degree view.
Yes, the breakfast is simply divine (especially home made granola and yoghurt, as well as the berry smoothie). We looked forward to that each morning. , and was served either inside or out on the veranda. I'd love them to serve dinner, as it would be so romantic by candlelight out on the veranda.
The rooms are very comfortable, private, spotlessly clean and cozy. The only problem we had was the faucet for hot water in our room was not working properly, though Nick will have fixed that immediately. In recognition of the problem, they offered us a reduced rate. No one else who stayed had the problem, so it was a one-off. Definitely wouldn't stop me going back again.
The town is also enjoyable. A real working town with a Route 66 tourist bent. A few shops for endless souvenirs.
We also met the most generous woman at the laundromat. She was another visitor, doing her laundry. I was looking for a laundry service (so we could spend the day at the Canyon, rather than doing laundry ourselves), but there was no laundromat employee present. So she offered to do the wash and have us pick it up from her that evening!! She even reassured me that she was a security guard and showed me her uniform in the wash to assure me she was trustworthy. Sure enough, she was a laundry angel and kept her word. Folded everything beautifully, too! She refused payment, even though she was short of funds, asking only that we "pay forward" the generosity. Thank you....
