“First Visit to a B&B”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

My husband and I visited Sheridan House Inn on our way to San Diego for our wedding. It was our first experience with a Bed and Breakfast.

We were running late due to a trip to the Grand Canyon, and the owners were more than willing to let us check in late. The husband was very friendly! The room was very nice and clean. Though, our water got cold fairly quickly. The breakfast was tasty and having french press coffee was definitely a nice treat! Having free water and coffee/hot cocoa in the room was also a nice touch.

And thank you Nick and Claire for the wine! That was a lovely surprise.

We would got back again, but we would go when it was warmer out so we could enjoy the nice scenery and patio. We did not know what to expect since this was our first time at a B&B. We enjoyed it and would visit again.

Thanks for your feedback & kind words. We are so pleased that we helped make your first B & B experience was a positive one. We do apologize if your hot water ran out sooner than expected. To improve water flow & pressure for our guests when showering we recently had water pumps installed in both of our buildings. These are a great success as our showers now have great pressure but as a result we identified an issue with the dedicated water heater to the room you stayed in. It is smaller than the rest & the increased flow caused it to use up the hot water more quickly. This is now being addressed & a larger heater installed that will eliminate the issue.
We hope you will come back & see us again & wish you every happiness in your new life together.

The place is nice, but the staff isn't too friendly. The owners are a married couple: husband is very nice and friendly, but the wife is not so customer friendly. If there is a customer complaint, she doesn't really listen, she just talks and has an answer for everything. Don't think she's got accustomed to the US "the customer is always right" sort of thing. The quality of the place is great, food takes forever to arrive because it's freshly made and short-staffed, and you don't get to choose where you sit (if you go with a larger family, don't expect to sit together). It was okay, but we will not go back. One waitress was pretty rude and when it was brought to the owner's attention (wife) she wasn't too friendly about it. No one in my group was satisfied with the customer service. I've stayed at a significantly less "fancy" place with nicer and more accommodating staff members. Like I said, it was nice, but don't expect friendliness or good customer service.

My friends & I stayed two separate nights during our re-organized trip to the Grand Canyon & Grand Canyon West. Clair & Nick were very accommodating!!! And we were very flakey guests. The house is beautiful, our rooms were perfectly appointed and the breakfast was worth waking up to.

We recently spent 2 nights at this convenient bed and breakfast. Although the Grand Canyon was closed (due to the government squabbles), Nick and Claire (owners) were very accommodating in giving us other areas of interest close by. The breakfasts were very tasty. A very nice couple who seem to enjoy making sure their guests are treated royally.

We stayed at Sheridan House Inn for three nights during a six week vacation of Canada and the States. I chose it because of the reviews on Trip Advisor and I wasn't disappointed. We stayed in the separate building from the main house in the lower suite. The room was lovely with much attention to detail, very clean, beautifully decorated and the little extra touches such as chocolates, toiletries etc were much appreciated. The coffee maker was also an added bonus as was the fresh milk in fridge, a pleasant change from all the packet coffee whiteners in other hotels etc.
The bathroom was luxurious in every sense and we felt really pampered. The bed was very comfortable and we had a little outdoor seat outside the room on which to sit , drink coffee, relax and take in the scenery.
And now to the breakfasts! I can only reiterate how wonderful they were with something different every day, It began with a lovely smoothie or juice, followed by a yummy granola, a choice of five main courses and finishing with a cake and coffee. It was something to look forward to every morning to start our day.
Claire and Nick were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay and suggested drives to go on , walks to take and places to see in the area. I particularly enjoyed Sedona, Jerome and the Grand Canyon of course. I must also thank them for recommending a lovely restaurant in Williams, the Red Raven. Food was brilliant and not too expensive.
I would highly recommend staying here if in the area and it is not too far from the Grand Canyon to drive there and back in a day. Well done and thanks again, Nick and Claire.

Room Tip: Didn't have to climb stairs in Fernwood room.

We deliberately reworked our itinerary for a return trip from the UK to Arizona this year so that we could stay at Sheridan House again. When we visited last September we loved the Inn - we can't add to what others have said about the comfort, cleanliness, wonderful breakfasts and all the little extra touches in the rooms such as toiletries and chocolates. Claire and Nick made us feel really welcome and we enjoyed chatting with them about how they have been upgrading the (already high) standards of the Inn since last year, with new access areas, bedroom furniture, great coffee makers etc. Even though most guests probably follow broadly the same itinerary, with visits to the Grand Canyon and so on, Claire and Nick are genuinely interested in how your trip has been and what other sights you might like to see.

If we're lucky enough to return again to the area, without a doubt we'd choose to stay at Sheridan House. We can't recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: On both visits we've stayed in the Cedar Room in the separate guest house and would recommend it...

It is easy to decide where to start with this review - BREAKFAST!! We spent a week at Sheridan House, and the biggest challenge each day was deciding what to eat for breakfast. There are so many amazing choices, so I decided to try all of them. The Yogurt with Granola was amazing! They really need a more creative name for this, since it is a work of art, as well as a delicious start to breakfast. You will definitely want to get the recipe for the Granola, since it is homemade at Sheridan House. Of course, the Yogurt and Granola is just a precursor for the main entree at breakfast. The breakfast bagel was my favorite, but it was tough to choose a favorite. The Scrambled Eggs were the best I have ever had. The Breakfast Burrito was made with Homemade Sausage, and had just enough spice to bring out the flavor, without being so hot that it replaced the flavor with hotness.

Clair and Nick are amazing hosts. Pay attention to their recommendations for restaurants and for things to do. They will not steer you wrong. I highly recommend their recommendation for the best view of the Grand Canyon. It is a bit of a hike (about a mile each way), but the beautiful walk is flat, and the view at the end is worth the effort.

We decided to use Sheridan House as our base for the week, rather than move from one hotel to another. From Sheridan House, we went to the Grand Canyon (twice), The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest (both highly recommended), two trips to Sedona (you don't want to miss it - make sure to take the 89-A route), White Water Rafting day trip, and Jerome. At the end of the trip, all four of us (me, my wife and her parents) agreed that using Sheridan House as a base was a great decision.

Room Tip: We stayed in the two bedroom suite. After seeing one of the other rooms, next time we will likely ch...
