“Changed Motels to here, best move ever..”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

This is part two in our Williams experience. We had to shift to another place to stay and we chose here. Even though we could not stay in one of the cabooses (yes, they have two plus a pullman car that you can stay in) we were able to catch a room in refurbished Route 66 Motor Lodge. (Note: A Motor Lodge is where you can drive right up to the room, sometimes they have carports, this did not) The Canyon Motel & RV park was constructed in the 1950's during the heyday. It has been restored and it is wonderful.

The buildings are made of rock construction. The office/gift store is decorated with railroad and other memorabilia, mostly pertaining to Williams. While you are in the office purchase one of the daily fresh made blueberry muffins. They are some of the best I have had anywhere.

Our room had two queens size beds, both very comfortable, and there was room to spare. The bathroom was much larger than I would have expected out of the era.

the best was the owner. When I explained the situation she was able to work us in for our remaining night in Williams. This is difficult this time of the year due to the Polar Express event (and the parade, and the tree lighting ceremony) and there are usually a lot of folks in town.

Comfortable beds, nice clean rooms, great decor (ok, I love trains, what can I say), I would highly recommend the Canyon Motel to anyone.

Room Tip: The rooms come in groups of three, we heard no noise at all, but if you wanted to not take a chance...

We stayed in a caboose and were excited prior to arriving. While it was still unique and fun, it was difficult overlooking how tired and worn the décor was all around us. Even some not too clean.

The very least they should do is clean it thoroughly, add a fresh coat of paint to surfaces, and maybe take down some of the nicky-knack stuff that lends to a cluttered look.

If you have kids then maybe stay one night. But be aware of what you'll find, and take wipes.

We stayed just one night, but all was good. Had a very clean and comfortable room, and IT WAS IN AN OLD TRAIN CAR!! Staff was friendly. Had everything we needed, and a very reasonable price. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Pick the train car "motel room", small but fun.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in September on our roadtrip across the Southwest. Before I read some reviews about it here on Tripadvisor. It was a very pleasant stay, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location, a little bit outside of Williams is great.

We stayed in a very nice and clean motel room. The beds were great. Clean linens and the matresses were also clean. The price was acceptable and i would recommend this place definitely to others.

We recently returned from our very first trip to Williams, and the Canyon Motel and RV Park was were we decided to stay on our trip. I had done some research, prior to our trip, and decided upon the Canyon Motel for a variety of reasons. 1) Talking with the staff, on the phone, they were very friendly, and inviting, and 2) Because we have a four year old, and the idea of staying in a train caboose with him would make his day. The train caboose is the most expensive lodging option they have, but for us, it was well worth it. The caboose is very much vintage, but very clean. I'm usually one of those weird people who refuses to take her socks off, in a motel, in fear of what I'd be stepping on, but I did not feel that way at all here. Everything, not only inside the train caboose, but on the surrounding property, displayed vintage; in fact, our son had made mention that the town of Williams reminded him of Radiator Springs, and that the Canyon Motel was like the Cozy Cone (minus the cones). The staff could not have been anymore friendly and made us all feel like we were long time friends. I cannot express how much we really enjoyed our stay, at the Canyon Motel, and on our next trip to Williams, we will most definitely be staying there. It was an all around amazing experience for our family.

We stayed three nights in September, with Canyon Motel as "base camp" for our visit to the Grand Canyon. The staff was very courteous and helpful, even loaning us maps to get to the West Rim. The lady who checked us in and helped up with the maps was especially nice. The young lady that checked us out had more of an "employee" demeanor but did her job none the less. One of the maintenance staff even offered to take group photos for us. The caboose as not spacious, but well, it's a.......caboose. Beds were comfortable, A/C worked and there is a nice picnic table just outside. We did not request new sheets each day, but expected fresh towels and trash pickup daily, which didn't happen. All in all we had a good time and would not hesitate to stay again.

After two nights here (in two different rooms), we confirm the rooms need renovating; but we expected it and it was fun to see the old wooden chairs and so on. The only real problem was, the smell in the second room; it probably came from the old wall to wall carpeting. Anyway, after having managed to activate the peculiar contraption that opened the windows, we solved the issue. The ladies at the reception were excellent; especially one of them helped us in finding directions, in pointing to a place where to buy a new GPS and so on; always smiling, always speaking slowly and clearly, which is very important for foreigners like us.. The motel location is very good as well: already on the way to Grand Canyon, but also near to Williams' center
