“Caboose is fun for all ages”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

Who doesn't want to sleep in a caboose? We stayed one night at the Canyon Motel and RV Park on our way to the Grand Canyon. Even our jaded college/high school aged kids were charmed. Sleeping in a caboose brought out the train loving kid in all of us.

We were a group of 6 and Caboose #1 had the added advantage of being able to sleep all of us together. It had a queen and then a queen bunk. It was a tight fit, and bigger people might feel claustrophobic, but hey... we got to sleep in a caboose! Plus, the price was less than getting two motel rooms to fit the 6 of us in. The caboose is a great option for a larger family.

Inside the caboose are fun and tongue-in-cheek, historic train signs and memorabilia. There is a small fridge, cute retro looking microwave and a coffee pot. The bathroom is tight, but hey... we got to sleep in a caboose!!!

Caboose #1 also has a very nice deck off the back that looks out onto a wooded section of the property. The orientation of the deck makes it quite private and it was wonderful to sit out on it and play cards with the kids under the stars. The only thing I would fix is the deck seating options. There was a small round table and only 4 chairs (2 more chairs scrounged up from the pool area). Since the caboose sleeps 6, it would be nice to provide seating for 6. Also, the deck is big enough to accommodate a small picnic table. That might suit families and groups better.

Note to thrill seekers... caboose #2 on the property is supposed to be haunted. Maybe we will stay there next time.

Williams is a great little town. I wish that we had spent more time there instead of just passing through. There are lots of shops and restaurants and things to do for families with kids. The locals are super nice. Williams truly embodies the spirit of the West.

Unique lodging in cabooses & a railway coach, plus cottage-style motel rooms, an RV park & a pool. It was real fun staying here. After a long day at the Grand Canyon the rest here was nice. The Caboose we had , had a queen bed with TV micro fridge and microwave, small coffee, bath room with shower and in the back there were two bed up on on each side and one lower. There were 4 adults and 2 children we all slept good. This is fun staying for a night or two. Its not the Hilton...its fun family staying staying here.

We stayed here for one night in june and it was lovely. It's very quirky with the trains you can stay in and railroad theme. We stayed in the motel room but it is more like a small cabin, very clean and cozy. All the staff were friendly and more than happy to help with any queries. Its not far from the town centre of Williams, which is a must see, but is far enough from anywhere to be peaceful and feel like there is nothing but forrest for miles. Only downside was milk was a bit pricey and there was no hairdryer in the room, other than that no complaints at all :)

We stayed in a caboose for 2 nights while we toured the Grand Canyon and surrounding area. The accommodations were obviously different and fun. The comfort of the beds was a different story. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

We were 3 families visiting Williams and the Grand Canyon. The Canyon Motel and RV Park was a great place for all of us to stay. The rooms were clean and quiet, the beds comfortable, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of wooded area behind the campground to roam and explore, where our 8 and 3 year old grandsons had a great time searching for BigFoot! The playground was also a lot of fun for them "driving" the cars and the boat! The indoor pool was enjoyed by all. A wonderful and relaxing time! Will return again and again!

We just got home from our trip to Arizona. This was such a fun place to stay. We stayed in one of the train cars for a unique experience. It was great for us and our three year old son. He loved being able to wander in the woods behind the RV park, and play at the playground. My eight year old nephew really enjoyed the pool. A great time was had by all. Best of all, the staff were all very friendly, and the rooms were very clean. I would highly recommend this place for families.

Room Tip: The train car was fun and unique. It also has a deck outside for morning coffee:)

If you are making your way along Route 66, consider a stop in lovely Williams, Arizona, at this fantastic motel and RV park. My nephew and I, plus two dogs and a cat, spent the night here on our way from California to Texas. It is set perhaps a mile out of town and is quiet and forested. We could see the Milky Way that night. What a treat!

We stayed in the motel portion of the property. The rooms are set in small stone-faced duplexes that decorated in a cute, old-fashioned motel style. My room featured a hand-painted pueblo theme. They rooms are clean and smell fresh. It's been a long time since a smoker had been in my room. The beds are comfy and the room came with a microwave and small fridge. The room also had a flat-screen TV mounted up and out of the way.

The front-desk staff was helpful and friendly and made dinner suggestions when we asked. They also provided a goody bag for my dogs, which included two recycled plastic bags for picking up on walks and biscuits. Anyone who thinks of my dogs automatically wins points with me!

The property has lots of open space and trails. My dogs had a great time exploring.

The only thing I was not thrilled about was the WiFi. It was weak and sporadic. It must be hard to wire a WiFi signal across a property that far-flung, and I decided that since I was in the mountains and the weather was gorgeous, I didn't really *need* Internet. You can always bank online at McDonalds when you hit the road.

Overall, we enjoyed out Route 66 experience here very much and would recommend Canyon Motel & RV Park to people who are looking for a more personal, unique experience than a Holiday Inn.

Room Tip: If I had been traveling without my pets, I would have loved to have stayed in one of the train cars...
