This Travelodge is probably an okay choice for people who are staying overnight and then going to the Canyon. I came to Williams for eight days with my wife and one-year-old to visit the Canyon and some friends who live in town. My first impression about the hotel was not very good. Our friends had a Pack-N-Play that we were borrowing for the week, and I had arranged for him to meet me at the hotel when we arrived, but since our flight was late we were way behind schedule. My friend went to the hotel lobby and asked if he could leave the crib there for when we arrived, and the man working the counter wouldn't let him...we had a pre-booked reservation for eight nights but he couldn't leave a simple thing for us in the lobby.
The next morning my wife went down to the lobby with the baby. I drove from Phoenix and we didn't get in until 1:00am, so when the baby woke up at 6, she wanted to hang out with the baby in the lobby until I woke up...she asked if she could sit down there and play with the baby and the guy working the lobby said no.
I was immediately struck by the fact that those who are in the "hospitality" industry were so inhospitable, when we're dropping almost 500 bucks on your hotel we should be able to sit in the lobby for a while.
The room was nice and clean, the cleaners did a great job when they came through every day. The girl who worked the counter for most of the mornings we were there (she also works at Cruisers BBQ, but I don't remember her name) was extremely sweet and helpful when we had a dead battery, so it was just the guy who manages the hotel who is not a very nice guy...
Breakfast consists of:
- Instant Oatmeal
- Toast and Jam
- Mini Chocolate Donuts
- Raisin Bran or Frosted Flakes
- OJ, Apple Juice and Milk
If you don't mind the carbo-breakfast, it's okay, but there is only seating for about 10 people (at 3 tables) in the lobby, so every morning we were there it was pretty awkward with a lobby full of people and nowhere to sit.
The Location is good if you're going to the canyon, you just exit the parking lot and make a right, and the park entrance is about a 50 minute drive from the hotel. There are lots of restaurants close by and a grocery store about a mile away. The room was pretty quiet, even at night, so I think the walls are good...I might stay here again but if I could find a better price in town I don't think the customer service could be much worse at a cheaper hotel.
