“Wouldn't go back”
Reviewed 23 September 2008

The hotel is okay. It is dated and worn with no elevators but clean. It is just off the highway so a bit noisy. I wouldnt have bothered writing a review if it werent for the staff.....The staff was a bit lazy. They seemed inconvenienced by the guests and were more intersted in their personal conversations. The people working in the gift shop shared the same apathy. ....overall - - unpleasant- couldnt wait to check out.....

The room was clean. Staff was nice.

None of the extras I have gotten used to at other hotels.
Only 1 pack of coffee left in the room for 2 nights. Had reserved 3 nights. left after 2. Had a room on the 2nd floor. No elevator, had to tote everything up the stairs, with no assistance. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed in in our 8 night trip. I feel the cost didnt meet the quality of the stay.

The first day I was there, no coffee at all in the lobby. the next morning I asked if they provided coffee. The answer was yes,
some one must not have done their job the day before. The stay didnt include the free breakfast i have been accustomed to.

We left early and got another hotel..disappointed

If you are looking for a fancy hotel, this one is not for you. The rooms look straight out of the 1980's with worn carpet and furnishings. Lots of families with children were around and therefore it was slightly noisy. The best thing about this hotel was price - it was not expensive. This definitely was not one of my favorites.

We stayed at this Holiday Inn a couple of years ago and thought the hotel was nice enough, but the staff was lazy, self centered and rude. The front desk clerks were in an office smoking when we walked in at 8pm. We could see them smoking and chatting and actually had to call them to come out and check us in! There was a sign on the counter that said "NO smoking!" but the desk clerks were clearly smoking. (Unaware and bad management). My son had a business trip to Williams this year and invited me to go along with him. We had lunch at Doc Holidays. The employees in the restaurant were very poor servers and acted like they'd rather be anywhere than there. One gentleman ordered a particular item with his meal and it never came. When it was pointed out to the server she said "Well I'll get to it when I have time, we are busy." We were a party of 5 and the restaurant added a big tip on for the server even though the service was terrible. The restaurant adds tips on to your bill, so the servers do not have to give you good service to get a good tip. They are going to get it no matter how poor the service is, so we will not patronize this hotel or restaurant again.

  • Disliked — rude and uncaring staff

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Williams Christmas day. Check in was fast, hotel room was clean and good size. I was impressed at the value for the money we paid. Two thumbs up to the Holiday Inn in Williams! The train ride to the Grand Canyon is highly recommended. Club class has "beverages"!!

We used our hotel points for a free room and were supposed to be upgraded to the nicest room they had. I don't think that happened as we just got a basic room on the second floor - right in front of the ice and vending machines AND the stairway. This made for a looong loud night. (What is it with people and letting their kids run down the hall screaming in the middle of the night? But I digress....)

Our first room had a serious leak in the window. So much so that the plaster was bulging and about to crumble. We called the front desk who sent a repair man (he didn't speak English but we were able to show him) and he said he couldn't repair it. We had to then go ask for another room as apparently they weren't going to change it. When my husband went to ask for the room, the three desk clerks were engaged in a personal conversation. Thinking they would stop, he waited for a couple minutes and then finally sarcastically said he was sorry to interrupt. They were put out and said it was OK.

We then did get the second floor room. However, the front desk service never did improve. They wouldn't give us another towel and said it had to be sent up - it never was. They ran out of pool towels - even though there was only one other family in the pool. We left early in the morning to go to Flagstaff and asked to have our room cleaned first so it would be clean when we got back late that afternoon. It wasn't cleaned . The lobby was always dirty - including spilled food on the floor and I don't think it was cleaned at all during our two day stay. The final straw was when we went to check out early in the morning. The desk clerk was chatting with another customer and both were sitting in the lobby on a couch. The clerk turned to me as I stood there waiting and said she'd be just a minute but then she just sat there continuing on with her chat. I finally walked out without paying for the rollaway bed and she just kept right on talking. This place needs some serious management intervention!

I do plan on going back to Williams but I doubt I would stay here again.

  • Liked — Free popcorn and hot chocolate in the lobby every night. Cool gift store open at night too.

I booked this hotel, based upon travel between California and The Grand Canyon, and found it to be a exceptionally nice hotel, location, and overall pleasant stay. My wife & 3 kids were delighted that it was clean, well maintained and the entire staff were pleasant, friendly & warm.

I will recommend this to friends & family making similiar trips to the Grand Canyon.
