We discovered La Posada while planning our Route 66 tour. We loved the decor, spacious room with large whirlpool tub and very comfortable bed. We had the Albert Einstein room and it was great! It was not near the railway. We slept just fine. The gift shop had a large variety of items and there was a separate large book shop. The Turquoise room was lovely and we enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. If in the area again, we will definitely stay again!

This is truly a Great place. You must visit this jewel. A place from an era we might never see again. The work the owners have done to date is historic, and the plans for the future will bring me back. There are only two rooms with balconies that you can sit and enjoy, but there were taken. We will try for these again, but our room #218 was the managers suite and it was just great, i'd take it again. It does have a standing balcony that faces the train tracks. But if train noise is a problem, pick a room facing another direction. For us though it was pleasant to hear the trains throughout the night. Our bed was just right, great night. they are working on the basement area and plan on a fitness and spa area, can't wait.

Room Tip: As mentioned, room 218 was just great, but it does face the tracks, but just right for us. Also try...

What a little gem of a place and a refreshing stop from our drive from Orlando Florida. it has so much to offer for adults and children alike, from the train anorak to the art critic it is has something for all to browse and inquire.
We stayed in the Douglas Fairbanks Room.

Staff were very helpful and we felt at home and safe walking around town.

Just wonderful thanks, bottle of water in the room would have been nice.

Room Tip: I think whatever room you get you will be pleased with and if they have avaliability they will give...

La Posada Hotel is a fascinating property and well worth staying for a night or two. My wife and I booked a room recently on our way home to Durango CO from Tucson. Built in 1930 as a Harvey House railroad hotel, it closed in 1957, was converted into railroad administrative offices, sat idle for a number of years and, since 1994, has been patiently and lovingly restored by its current owners. Room-by-room renovation of the 53 guest rooms was finally completed in 2012. The extensive and handsome public spaces include interesting original art installations, furnishings both original and collected in the past 20 years, annotated photos and tasteful, low-key videos detailing the rich history and restoration efforts, a robust gift shop, and the excellent, independently-owned Turquoise (dining) Room featuring locally-sourced, beautifully-presented, and yummy food. We enjoyed exploring and simply hanging out in the lobby for a couple hours the morning we left. This is a unique hotel and, as other reviewers have noted, a polar opposite to modern hotel chains. Highly recommended.

Truly, this is one of the most extraordinary hotels and restaurants that I have ever visited. The proprietor reported that this historic hotel is full 46 weeks a year. Only late January and early February offer room choices on shorter notice. The rooms have been restored to the integrity of this great railroad hotel. It is still an Amtrak station, two times daily. As we dined in the Turquoise Dining room, several freight trains passed by. This four-star restaurant serves a signature soup and cornbread made with locally grown ingredients. Arts and crafts are emphasized throughout the hotel and surrounding areas. Take a trip back to the late twenties through the fifties. Now, restored to perfection, it is not only a hacienda along I-40 and the old Route 66, but it is a museum wrapped in a legend.

Room Tip: La Posada was the last of the Fred Harvey hotels constructed along the Santa Fe railway. Check out t...

From arrival 12 Feb to checkout La Posada staff made this a gracious experience. Dinner in the Turquoise Room delicious, offerings of unusual texture and taste delightful. After dinner while strolling through the building we found Khent K. Anantakai playing beautiful, most original, guitar music. Khent was just the right touch of relaxed ambiance.
We had been up-graded when we arrived into a larger, very comfortable room. We had a good night's rest. The bed was comfortable and dressed with quality linens.
13 February found us driving to Williams, AZ.

Room Tip: Ask about progress of current construction. Room we had was quiet, but if sleeping in, it would be g...

We didn't stay at the La Posada but had an amazing Valentine's Day dinner at the restaurant. The restoration of the property is a wonderful work in progress and we will make plans to return there soon when we can stay and enjoy it properly. I can't say enough about our dinner experience though. The food was not just delicious but artfully presented in a relaxing atmosphere. We are just simple folks who appreciate good food, good service and nice people. You don't have to be "somebody" to have a wonderful evening here. Our waitress Ashley was excellent. The signature soup is too good to be missed and they even had a vegetarian platter big enough for two! All local produce as well. Sorry, not able to rate hotel (no TripAdvisor separate listing for restaurant only).
