Shortly before setting off on our little tour (but after we had paid for the ranch!) I came across a truly curious 2-star review of STGR.

29th December 2013.

Page down and have a read. I'll wait.

Now, I confess that I was just a very little concerned when I read that. However, having spent a wonderful, halcyon, few days at the ranch, I can say that I am as completely bewildered as the owner of the ranch by those comments.

Perhaps the writer was staying somewhere else and got confused.

Could happen to anyone.

Anyway, our experience was quite different.

For a start, the staff are lovely. Very friendly and happy to pass the time of day.

The accommodation provided at the ranch was very comfortable. The rooms were not super luxurious, but they had everything we needed and felt just right. The food was exactly what is needed when you're playing at cowboys: solid, tasty and plentiful. Coffee & soft drinks are on tap. You have to bring your own hooch.

The riding was brilliant. The wranglers were both entertaining and knowledgeable. They are not, however, obsequious; they are professionals doing a job and deserve appropriate respect. The horses themselves (all geldings for steadiness of temper) were lovely, well-mannered boys. We own horses and know a little about them: these were perfect for the job they were being asked to do - provide pleasure rides for mixed ability riders. Being wimpy Europeans we took advantage of the box of helmets.

It is worth re-iterating something that the owners and staff make perfectly clear: this ranch is quite a long way from town. Like about 17 miles on (entirely serviceable) dirt roads. You can't just nip out for a bar of chocolate or anything. So bring all you are going to need. Did I mention that you need to bring your own drink?

Away from the riding, there is a pool, a games room / bar and a little TV corner. To be honest, we just pleased to have some real, proper downtime. And a drink. Which we brought with us.

Recommend without reservation. We will, sometime or another, be back. With drink.

Room was excellent, roomy and comfortable (except the pillow). Our room did not have a fridge but some did. We did get ice for our cooler and there was a fridge in the main building so this was not a big deal.
The a/c unit worked great.
Staff were friendly, helpful and fun. Allan checked us in and was great. Cody was our wrangler and friendly and fun to ride with.
The horses were well cared for and fun to ride. The first ride is a walk that seems super slow but it is to help gauge your abilities and every ride after the first was good. There is still a lot of walking (it is desert and hot on the horses) but the loping in the washes was fun.
Great place to relax and we met some great people.
Had a massage while there with Joanne. She was great.
Don"t expect to leave the ranch. Time flies when you relax and the ranch is off the beaten path.
The road in is dirt/sand but we made it no problem with a low car.

We stayed here for a week in late September and the weather was perfect. The accommodations are simple, but adequate. They had a good selection of horses for people with different riding abilities. We really enjoyed the horseback rides, one longer one to a plateau with a beautiful view. They allow you to run your horse, if you wish. The trail guides are kind and helpful (no criticism of your riding ability). The meals were wonderful! Every evening they offered some kind of activity from playing cards to line dancing class. One thing we were surprised about is that there were more visitors from Europe than from the U.S. That turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. This family-owned ranch is run with good old fashioned hospitality! Loved it!

For the last 10 years in January, I have brought a group of 20 students to Stagecoach Trails Dude Ranch for two weeks of riding, socializing, and learning. I can't enough say enough wonderful things about the Rynder Family and their staff. The food is delicious, the accommodations are lovely, and the Mohave desert location amid the beautiful mountains is breathtakingly beautiful, especially at Sunset and Sunrise. The Rynder family are the nicest people I've ever met, and they truly make you feel like family. The Wranglers are knowledgeable and helpful. Cody and Tex are great at teaching the kids how to ride. And Craig is not only an incredible wrangler, he's a great singer too. . . ask him to do an Elvis song! I'd recommend this ranch to anyone young or old who loves nature, animals, and a good time.

Room Tip: All the rooms are equally nice. The casitas, or houses, have a fireplace, so they're especially nice.

We just came home from our third family vacation to Stagecoach Trails. We have a family of 7 which include teenage girls age 18 and 19 and boys ranging from 11 to 17. We have been coming to Stagecoach since 2009 and have found the perfect family vacation that everyone in the family loves. Carrie and Dan have done a wonderful job of creating a peaceful place with just the right amount of activity and quiet. The lack of technology is so refreshing and just what our family of teenagers needs to have time to play boardgames, go horseback riding, enjoy family meals and just reconnect. The riding is perfectly paced for our family which ranges from very experienced to eager beginner. The kids love loping along the washes and always feel exhilarated and my husband and I get to enjoy some faster riding that suits our abilities. Carrie works double time to grant our every request from line dancing, to a 5 hour lunch ride, to group boardgames and more. Lastly, Randy did a great job for a difficult family that includes one vegetarian and one son with PKU which requires specially prepared food we provide for his medical needs. Another perfect week with much needed connection time for our entire family, thank you again Carrie and Dan.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms...
