“Pleasant park for a walk”

Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area
Ranked #7 of 52 things to do in Yuma
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 14 April 2013

If you are passing through Yuma on the Interstate and want a break from driving, or if you have been in Yuma Old Town or the Territorial Prison, then a visit to this nicely landscaped park could be a good idea for a walk or picnic.

There are some pleasant grassed areas, paths, access to the river and some information on the history of Yuma. At Pivot Point there is also a Southern Pacific Locomotive on display that has stairs up to the drivers cab.

This review is for Gateway Park rather than the Quartermaster Depot that is at the west end of the park and is worth a visit, as is the Colorado river syphon rise (but that is only a one minute visit).

Very nicely landscaped, clean & interesting. Several good Antique stores with good prices. Lots of vacancy & few visitors.

Traveling I-8 across Arizona can be mind-numbing. We stopped here on a beautiful mid-October morning and had a wonderful time wandering the grounds. The grounds are well-kept and well-marked. It was interesting learning about the water project. The staff was very helpful. It was worth the stop.

Very Friendly helpful staff, great source of informaiton and a neat place to see things you might not have expected in the desert. Educational but fun and something to be proud of, well cared for items.
