We spent three nights here with friends in January 2013, riverwood is set in a great position by the river Tay, the large comfortable bedrooms overlook the river. Ann and Alf are gracious hosts providing everything to make your stay perfect. The breakfasts are varied with a selection to suit all. Ann is a great cook and dinner was memorable. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Tay2 is the larger of the three rooms, but all are good with good views

Would definitely recommend. Stunning riverside setting, beautiful big rooms, modern big bathrooms, fabulous evening meal - restaurant standard cooking! Plush & comfy, very homely. Home-made cakes, yum. 5 minute walk to pub & local facilities, chocolate shop/coffee house. Lots of outdoor pursuits in season months if you want them (closed in Jan).

Stayed here with my husband in October. Riverwood is so comfortable and the hospitality offered is superb. Our room was huge with a super comfy bed and the ensuite bathroom very well appointed. Red squirrels in the garden were a delight to watch during breakfast and every possible diet appeard to be catered for. We also ate in one evening which is to be recommended. Alf was so helpful suggesting other venues we might wish to try and we shall certainly keep Riverwood on our list of places to suggest to others. We were fortunate with superb weather (yes in Scotland) but this B and B would be great in any weather.

Room Tip: Doubt if there is any advantage to be gained from one room over another. All looked good.

We wanted to go away for our 20th Anniversary and I booked this hotel on Booking.com. The first thing we loved was the setting. It is in its own extensive grounds in Strathtay, a small village not far from Pitlochry right next to the River Tay.

When you come in you are greeted by Alf and Anna who are delightful and who show you to your room. We stayed in the Auich Suite, which was huge. It had a living room, a dressing room a large wet room with shower and bath, and an enormous bedroom with the largest bed I have ever slept in.

It is all immaculate and the decoration in understated elegance. Anna and Alf refurbished this hotel completely and the result is a quiet haven of excellence. I could go on an on, but I will finish by mentioning the breakfast which is amazing with many outstanding choices, and if you get the chance, book the evening meal. Anna is an amazing chef, and the steak we had was probably the best steak I have ever tasted.

Quite simply this is one of, if not the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Out of 10, I would give Riverwood 20!

Room Tip: Go for the Suite - it is amazing!

A gorgeous B&B in a gorgeous place, Riverwood offers comfort and elegance in a lovely wooded setting with views of the Tay. We stayed in a suite which was larger than we needed but very relaxing with a superking bed and comfy chairs in the bedroom, plus a sofa in the sitting room. Bay windows in each room overlooked the lawn and woods with a glimpse of the Tay beyond, while the breakfast room offered closer views of the water. Breakfast options are more varied than the norm, a welcome change if you are making a long trip in Scotland.

Me and my wife stayed here on our anniversary trip to the area. We were only at Riverwood for one night but were thoroughly impressed with the standard of accommodation, the food and the welcome. The room was the larger double which was immaculate, like the rest of the property, and tastefully decorated in neutral and modern tones. The whole property is newly furnished and decorated to a hotel quality standard. Our room had flat screen TV, an amazing walk in shower, built in storage along an entire wall and high quality furnishings. However, the owners provided far more than the usual hotel welcome and were extremely warm, professional, and also had a great sense of humor. Complimentary afternoon tea was lovely (see photo), and made at Riverwood, and the breakfast was superb.

I would recommend Riverwood above hotel accommodation in the area for those that are looking for high quality accommodation, and would suggest that you'll also get a B&B welcome second to none. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Riverwood again. You won't be dissapointed!

Brilliant - enough said. Don't go to Pitlochry - come here to the conservation village of Strathtay, and experience much much much more than the average B&B. Complementary afternoon tea a great touch.

Room Tip: The Auchanross Suite is huge!
