We try to come here once a year. We come from Birmingham, some 350 miles / 6 hours away. This should speak a lot about Riverwood.

Add to that, the fantastic breakfasts, plush rooms, caring service and now indulgent dinners on certain nights and you really are in for something special.

The views from the rooms are a real treasure. Red squirrels often can be spotted.

There is a chocolatier across the river, a short walk over the bridge plus a restaurant and pub.

Just go here. You won't be disappointed with the stay and you will come again.

We had a fantastic two night stay at this beautiful "Boutique" guesthouse. It exceeded our expectations in everyway. We stayed in one of the rooms on the first floor. The property is immaculately maintained, finished to a high standard, in a beautiful situation by the river. We watched the red squirrel each morning with breakfast. The food was outstanding- we would definitely recommend an evening meal if you get the opportunity. The attention to detail is superb. Thank you for a great time. We would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: The rooms on the first floor are lovely and a great size. We had the opportunity to look in the grou...

This is not what I would call a bed and breakfast, it is more like a boutique hotel. The house is spacious and very well decorated, each of the rooms seems to have a personal touch, all very stylised. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast is out of this world and I was lucky enough to be staying when the owners were able to offer a dinner as well. Never had a steak like it, real melt in the mouth stuff!!
I was there to visit some friends, but this would be a fantastic romantic get away for any couple. Surrounded by trees; all with the red squirrels playing in them, which I absolutely loved, I walked down to the river and just spent some time taking in the very dramatic scenery. Seemed a shame to leave, but reality calls, hey ho.

Room Tip: Ask for the suite on the ground floor - fantastic views of the river and the garden

I have to begin by saying we don't usually stay in BB's. It's normally hotels. Well I am so glad for the change as this place is just awesome!

You drive down a short drive on a dusky night to find yourself tucked away near the banks of the river. You open your car door to the sound of a large pheasant in the trees surrounding the place. It's serene and peaceful.

You're met at the door by Alf and immediately it's first name terms, not Mr and Mrs. Shown to your room with the explanation about the place, the background, why it's "bring your slippers and feel at home", which you immediately do.

We stayed in the Ardnagaul suite which is huge, well decorated, comfy bed and a really nice place to be. And a huge ensuite as well. And the little back door to a private patio.

We opted for the eat in option and had a great evening meal. Alf described it as "good home cooking" by Ann. Well it's not, it is much, much better! My lamb was superb, the chicken equally delicious. But the apple and cinnamon crumble was just terrific, possibly best ever!

Breakfast has a nice touch. You place your order the evening before by completing a scroll left in the room for you and leave it in a basket in the hallway. Again, awesome choice and you will not be stuck. All the usuals plus some quirky alternatives.

All in all, I have to say that Riverwood has no minuses, and that is unusual for me to say. I really do thoroughly recommend. It is well positioned near to Pitlochry and all the Trossachs and Cairngorms National Park has to offer. Go, you will not be disappointed!

We were recommended to this B&B through VISIT SCOTLAND and were not disappointed. We had the Junior suite which was very well appointed and had patio doors leading out onto a small patio which had metal table and chairs and great views of the River Tay and grounds. It is ideally situated not far off the A9 next to Ballinluig and near Aberfeldy , Pitlochry, Blair Atholl , Dunkeld and House of Bruar. The breakfasts were very good and the hosts cooked dinner on certain nights. They supplied large meringues and cream for us on arrival and the tea trolley in the room had plain biscuits and chocolate Kit Kats. We saw Red Squirrels playing on the lawn along with an abundance of Pheasants. We had intended to stay only for 1 night but were glad to extend this to 2. The walk - in shower was very clean and a strong supply of hot water.

Room Tip: All the rooms are extremely nice and can be seen clearly in the website

Stayed for two nights in October, we had fantastic weather. The accommodation is 1st class. Our room was huge with an equally huge shower room. Decor beautiful throughout the property. The couple who run the B&B are lovely, very attentive and helpful. The attention to detail is fantastic, especially liked the scrolls they have in the bedrooms tied with ribbon for you to select your choices for breakfast. Breakfast was 1st class, the tables in the lounge/dining room are strategically place for guests to enjoy the gardens and River Tay. The red squirrels and peacocks seemed to perform just at the right time! Great location, Grandtully within walking distance, we dined at the Inn on the Tay which was very pleasant. We visited Kenmore during our stay which is a must visit, beautiful setting on Loch Tay.
We would recommend a visit to the Crannog visitors centre which has a tour for only £8 per head, worth every penny and very interesting and educational for young and old. Very relaxing break, we will definitely be back, however will need to book in advance as this B&B, unsurprisingly, books up very quickly!

Room Tip: Any room as accommodation to such a high standard and a beautiful setting

We stayed for one night (too short!) in the Auchanross Suite. It was fantastically equipped for relaxing. The room was spotless and had everything we could possibly want. Alf was so helpful but not overbearing, he was there when you needed him. The grounds were stunning and made you feel like you were a million miles away. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. All in all - a brilliant stay! We would love to return.
