“Good option in Kathmandu”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

I went to Nepal on a business trip. I work with a management consulting firm and travel extensively. I stayed at Greenwich Hotel for four nights with my team. Overall my experience was satisfactory.

Location: I feel location of the hotel is good. It is not in the main Kathmandu city. Kathmandu city is highly polluted. You will lot of people using masks. As the hotel is not in the main Kathmandu city, quality of air is relatively better. Ample parking space available.

Food: Good options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service could be little bit better.

Room: I stayed on the first floor. Small room. Electricity is a major problem in Nepal. Hotel has generator but AC switches off automatically at the time of power cut. You have to manually switch it on again. At least I faced this problem in my room.

Staff is helpful and always ready to support.

Overall good option to stay in Kathmandu.

The hotel is in a good location in Lalitpur, away from the hustle and kerosene fumes of touristy Kathmandu. That and the fact that WiFi is provided free are just about all the good things that can be said about this hotel.

I had a horrible experience at dinner one night, where I was promised room service and then told curtly that the kitchen had closed for the day when I followed up after a 1-hour silence. This is Lalitpur, Kathmandu at 10PM so I had to go to bed without a gram of food for the night. Their breakfast buffets are near toxic, with the eggs and bacon served being pretty close to the worst I've ever seen in my lifetime on this planet.

Stay at this hotel only if you want to spend most of your time outside of it.

We stayed in this hotel in December 2014 for about 3 days and felt quite cold.

Facilities: The hotel room is double bedded and congested, no amenities except for a worn out towel and soap, TV is small which was once popular in 1990, had a Chinese remote for AC (when i requested for a change for an English, the reception denied- saying that's the only one),no drinking water facilities in the (including boiling) in the room. Had a cold stay in the peak winter :(.

Location: The hotel is located in a residential area and quite far from the shopping centres or places of interest. The hotel hotel has a large lobby -but then how long do we stay in lobby?.

Plus point_ the hotel gives free wifi

Not recommended!!

Generally the hotel is comfortable and I like the spaciousness of the hotel lobby but the passageways to the rooms are cramped. Some rooms have only the standing space of one person right outside the door of the room. We had to add one more bed to our room which they did but they did not provide an extra set of towel. When we requested for it, we were told that housekeeping has closed for the day! It shows that there was not much thoughtfulness behind the work.

A group of 13 travellers were based at this hotel for a two week period. We were on a B & B basis, with nearly all of us dining at the hotel at night. On a couple of occasions, we also entertained some Nepali friends, following meetings held in one of their meeting rooms. Dinner most nights was on a buffet basis but an a la carte menu was always available. On the whole the food was always of a good standard and all of the staff were always very helpful. Yes, we WILL use this hotel again. A couple of rooms lacked A/c, so check first. WiFi of a good standard and sensible rate of foreign exchange is offered. Quiet position with a very good and clean general shop almost opposite - selling foods, gifts and alcohol. Taxi fare to centre of Kathmandu approx 400 rupees and 1000 rupees to the airport.

I like this hotel. They have nice room but above all hospitality is superb. Poolside restaurant is good. And they serve delicious breakfast. The hotel is located inside valley. Hotel staffs are really very helpful. Rooms are quite big and beautiful.

Stayed here for 5 nights in July. The hotel rooms are functional and there was free wi-fi. The breakfast and the poolside restaurant were good. All the staff - front office, housekeeping and retaurant staff were excellent. The hotel is also a bit away from the main city and is located in Lalitpur and not Kathmandu.
