“Excellent value for lunch menu at 8.5€”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

We were visiting Porvoo for a couple of hours with my wife. We decided to try this restaurant for lunch - glad we did. Restaurant in on central location, just outside old town. Interior is basic but cosy. Service is friendly. During lunch time restaurant has lunch menu (this time 4 different dishes) at 8.50€ each including fresh naan, coffee/tee and lassi. Food was excellent Nepalese/North Indian, portions large and value for money excellent. A la carte menu starts at 3pm. We will for sure come back here another time.

“Terrific Food!”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

On my recent visit to Finland in September 2013, I was walking one sunny evening along the streets of the historic City of Porvoo with my cousin and his wife sightseeing. We decided, based on tripadvisor reviews, to try out this highly-rated Nepalese restaurant for dinner. We sat at one of the two outdoor tables on the sidewalk along the busy street and were taken aback that it had not been cleared off nor cleaned up yet. We chatted for a while and wondered what the name Khukuri meant.

A young waitress eventually appeared from inside, welcommed us with a pleasant smile, cleaned off the table, gave us menus and explained that the name was for the ancient, ceremonial Nepalese knife displayed on the front window. For drinks, my cousin and I both ordered a Khukuri beer while his wife chose a French white wine. All of us picked a chicken item from the extensive food menu, but each of a different concoction of spiced sauces (eg. coriander, ginger, or curry) and methods of preparation. When our choices arrived, we were not disappointed as the food tasted absolutely delicious! Each of us got a large plate with a mound of cooked rice, a small green salad, and two kinds of dipping sauces. Our chicken dishes were served separately but accompanied by a plate with two huge slabs of wonderful nan bread. We agreed to sample the chicken dishes on a communal basis, so that each of us got to savour some of all three chicken specialties. And each was absolutely amazing in taste!

We finished our meals completely satisfied. Paid our bill (a modest 67 euros, incl. drinks) and walked away patting ourselves on the back for having chosen to eat at Khukuri. I would highly recommend this unique restaurant to anyone visiting Porvoo.

“Good food”

The food was excellent once we got to eat, but we had to wait for 40 min for it. Small and intimate place, friendly staff.

“Well, yes”
Reviewed 11 March 2013

This Nepalese restaurang is located just at the edge of the old town behind a big supermarket. The food is good but the athmosphere is not well thought. The prices are too hight compared to the feeling of the place. It feels more like a quick cantine.
