First, several weeks before arrival we requested a first floor room because one of us is handicapped. We were assigned room 5 on the 2nd floor accessed up a poorly lit stone spiral stairs with a rope hand rail that was loosely attached and dangerous even to persons with out a handicap.
The room was spacious and nice. The seats and bed however were so low that getting up from a lying/seated position was difficult especially for a handicapped person.
The bath room, tub/shower was awful. There were no safety grips or handles and two sides of the tub merged into the wall eliminating a potential grip for interning/exiting. The hand held shower head did not have a wall mount and there were places on the wall where mounts had apparently pulled out. As a consequence my wife was unable to bath for the 6 days of our stay.
I might add that the tap in the bidet leaked 24hrs a day (it was noticed by the attendant showing us the room at check-in with indications it would be fixed) creating an annoyance.
At 129 euros a day it was a RIP off and we can't recommend room five to anyone and probably not the Chateau de la Rogue either.More
