“Comfortable and clean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2008

We spent a long weekend (Friday – Sunday) at the Oak Crest Cottages Treehouse complex. The treehouses are new (2007) cabins and are located just off Hwy 62 east of the 62/23 junction. Just to orient you, the “old” Oak Crest cottages are on Highway 62 west near Pivot Rock Road. The owners have obviously put a significant amount of money into the tree house site for construction and landscaping. There are nine cabins built out over a hillside, using the latest Eureka Springs trick of positioning the structures on pilings to use the steeply sloping land. The effect is novel and pleasant and certainly saves on lawn care.

Our cabin was comfortable and clean. The weather during our stay swung from one day in the low 60's to a day of 80+. The air conditioning was provided by one of the new ductless split heat pump systems and the programmable thermostat was not particularly easy to adjust for the wide swing in temperature. I understand that electronic thermostats save energy and money, but a guest shouldn't need a degree in HVAC or programming to set the room temperature.

My wife stated that she would have liked to see a bit more decoration like paintings or artificial flowers. This probably reflects the individual tastes of the property owners as we've stayed in places that were extremely busy with decorations and others that were fairly sterile like our tree house. Less “stuff” does mean less cost, less dusting, and less breakage.

We were very satisfied with our experience at Oak Crest. The thermostat issues were minor after I figured out how the system worked. Décor is admittedly a matter of taste. Overall we found the tree houses to be a good value for our money. The location is excellent, with several good restaurants within walking distance, and the Eureka Springs trolley stops close to the site for those who don't want to drive.

  • Liked — Clean, comfortable room in a great location
  • Disliked — A little hard to get the HVAC system set correctly

We stayed at the city loft treehouse for out honeymoon in Eureka Springs on April 4 and 5. We went over to the treehouse cottages the day before and were allowed to walk around and see where we would be staying on the most important night of our lives. The innkeeper, Ben, was extremely friendly and accomodating. The city loft was clean, private, and awesome for the price! I would DEFINITELY recommed this place for anyone looking to find a secluded, inexpensive, and clean place to stay at! Will be repeat customer! As we were checking out the innkeeper thanked us profusely for our business and gave us praises and congrats for our marriage! A perfect ending!

  • Liked — The private accomodations!
  • Disliked — It was all wonderful!

We have stayed at several different locations in Eureka Springs while looking to relocate and this is by far our least favorite. The Innkeeper was a liitle grumpy. Refused to give us additional towels and would not allow us to walk around the property. The bathroom was way too small, your in big trouble if you drop something in the shower. You have to basically step out of the shower and pick up what you dropped and get back in. Forget about shaving your legs!!! Outside, there were big signs everywhere stating that if your were not a guest of the Tree Houses you were not allowed to walk around. This put a sour taste in our mouths. What if we wanted to book a Tree House next time?? Forget that! Since our stay, you have found much better cabins to stay in. The ONE positive thing about Oak Crest is the price, very reasonable for the traveler on a budget!!!!

Sorry I didn't get this out sooner but I guess it's better late than never! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oak Crest Cottages! We stayed at their other location of Eureka Springs Treehouses in the #7 Venice Treehouse. We were SO very pleased with every bit of our stay. We checked in at the main location and the owner was so friendly and gave us some wonderful restaurant recommendations. We go to Eureka Springs every year and definitely have our favorites, but it's also nice to try someplace new. The Treehouse location is just a short distance away and very close to everything. There is a wonderful security gate that is accesible only with the remote you receive upon check-in. Our treehouse was so neat with everything we needed. Loved the king-size bed. The comforter was nice and plush! The bathroom had a corner-shower (just like at home!), potty and the most awesome sink/faucet! I actually took close-ups of the sink! There was a tv in both the bedroom area and the living area which was nice as we like to watch tv while falling asleep. The living room had a wonderful fireplace and leather sofa with ottoman, kitchenette with mini fridge, coffee pot, and microwave, and the much used jacuzzi! We actually watched the Superbowl from the jacuzii! Nothing better! I took tons of pics and didn't want to transfer them all, but if you want to see more, feel free to ask.

  • Liked — close proximity to everything yet quite private

My husband and I stayed in the City Loft Treehouse for our anniversary. I had researched it as much as I could on the internet and was excited about staying there from what I had read and seen. We were not disappointed!!!!!! The owners were great. They offered restaurant and attraction suggestions and showed us how to get everywhere. I agree that although they were very helpful, they did respect our privacy. The room was amazing and had everything you may need. It was a great getaway and chance for us to reconnect away from the everyday. I highly recommend this place.

When I saw the online ad for a treehouse cottage, I was a little skeptical and confused... but OH my... what a surprise. The owners have cleverly created little 'lofts' in the trees in beautiful Eureka Springs! Each cottage has a different theme... one, which we wanted but was booked, looks just like a Metropolitan Loft inside, another is a Tuscan bungalow! We stayed in Elaine's treehouse... and it was just so charming. These little treehouse cottages are VERY spacious and so well equipped, you don't want to leave your tree! We actually got MARRIED here... HOW fun! I highly recommend Oak Crest... we plan to return again and again... the owners are amazing people... and though they are certain you are taken care of, you have so much privacy, you think you are all alone in the woods in your own little paradise in the trees! GO there... you won't regret it...
