This hotel is in a great location with wonderful views over the beautiful lake. It's in a very quiet spot in the middle of nowhere but if you have a car or bicycle it's easy to reach a couple of lovely little villages. Rooms are spacious enough and adequately furnished, though simple. The bathroom was clean and had a shower over the bath, though it didn't stretch high enough to stand under properly, so hair washing had to be done in a strange crouching position. No hairdryer. The hotel has wireless internet, which is switched off in the evening, and is only accessible in the reception area. The swimming pool is away from the main hotel which means the rooms are not bothered with noise from the pool (not that it was ever noisy or busy anyway), and the views from the pool are also lovely, over the lake.

Breakfast was fine, nice bread and croissants but dinner was disappointing. The mid price menu that was part of our package was limited and didn't appeal at all to my (admittedly unadventurous) tastes - gizzards and liver as well as steak with blue cheese. I mostly ordered from the a la carte menu but never really had anything great. Every night brought the same overcooked brown French Fries and vegetable mush as an accompaniment to the meat. It was a shame as such a great view from the restaurant could have made it a really spectacular dinner. That said, the restaurant seemed to be popular as it was always very busy.

One small tip - if you waken in the night, go out on your terrace and look at the stars. It's so dark here you get treated to great night skies.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms facing the lake are best, as upper floors don't get a terrace and the views a...

Very nice hotel, simple but good and clean. Amazing view although we were on the back of the hotel. Which technically looks out on a motorway but with approximately 1 car an hour that you don't even hear.
We arrived on a Sunday eve at 10PM and confused with the time, we had not thought to notify the staff so when we arrived it was dark in the hotel. When I called they picked up and they actually live in one of the buildings so they came back to let us in and show us our room which was very nice. Did need to use my (not so great) French though as not everyone spoke English.

The surroundings are very nice of course! Lovely and very very quiet with amazing views.

Just 1 thing is that the nearest village was 7km away (Bauduen) which we were not aware of, so you definitely do need a car to get around. There is also no place to get to the lake from the hotel itself (there is a swimming pool available though).

The restaurant in the hotel is also very good, seemed to attract several people from the area as well.

Room Tip: We chose a room looking out on the south side, thinking to save some money and that we'd have th...

We have stayed at Les Cavalets on several occasions over the last twenty years or so, mainly as a couple and occasionally with one or more of our three sons and their wives/girl friends.
It's always a delight to return and breakfast and dine on the terrace with unsurpassed views of the lake. The rooms are tastefully decorated and well kept and we always enjoy our meals. The hotel is well managed and the individual staff are both friendly and professional. The swimming pool is large by hotel standards and is well maintained and it is possible to walk down to the lake for more challenging swimming.
Over the last 50 years we have stayed in literally hundreds of French hotels but Les Cavelets remains very special.
