“Lovely place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2013 via mobile

This was a charming place and we had a lovely stay. It is nice and beautiful, cozy and warm. The owner was nice and friendly and recommended us places we could see and things we could do. There are two lovely dogs Chai and Hercules, the lovliest and friendliest dogs ever. The house was like a piece of at itself and everything was cured to details. There was a lovely garden too, where we had breakfast. I totally reccomend it to anyone who wants a nice place to stay in saignon.

If you are looking for a small hotel that exudes charm, this is the place. The minute we stepped into the entry hall, we felt transported into another world. Tiny paintings of the Luberon lay drying on the entry desk. The old mansion is a maze of stairs and pathways with art installations everywhere. The back garden is a delightful place to relax or have breakfast. We loved the array of breakfast items. The rooms are simple and modest, bathrooms are transported from another era, sometimes they're across the hall. If you are looking for luxury, this is not your place. If you are looking for an artistic adventure, you should come here. This is in no way, a hotel experience. From what we could tell, this is an art gallery with room for budding artists with potential. If there are vacant rooms available, they also rent them to tourists. We plan to return and hopefully add some art installations of our own.

Need a phone? forget it. They have theirs, but they aren't going to share. There is not one phone in this art galery for YOU!

Need an internet connection? Forget it, sme as above.

Maybe a shower? Doesn't look too promising as there is no curtain or showerhead. Hey. Marie Antoinette did it, so can you! The towels are old and thin, and huge. Useless.

Why bother to straighten up your room. You are just an inconvenience!

This place saves on electricity-- the Art is sometimes lit, but not your way. It is dark and hazzardous.

The breakfast is ok, if you don't mind cold coffee--there are thermos containers that aren't. And if you don't take it, you are still charged for it. Who is working for whom here?

And finally, they demand cash--creating a mighty disturbance at the end of your stay. Ever hear of PayPal? Hundreds of Euros of cash?

My impression,: They want your help paying the mortgage, but you're just an inconvenience. Stay at the captivaing Auberge des Presbyteer sp? just down the street.
Presbyteer is the one with the nice personnel, who help you with your calls, your internet, and your Paris booking issues. Lovely people. Stay away from this place.

In Saignon, a little hill village 4 km near Apt, you'll find the traces of tourism as in all nice old Luberon villages but still parts of more authentic atmosphere remain. Especially in the old mansion "chambre avec vue" with contemporary art all over the house and a nice walled garden with fruit trees.
3 rooms for 2 persons (one of them a twin bed, the others with a bed of 1,40 m) with there own bathrooms (2 of them on the other side of the corridor - these beeing larger, with more space for pieces of art) and 2 suites (which I didn't get to know as they were occupied) - all with their special colour scheme and pieces of contemporary art.
A big walled garden with fruit trees - and pieces of art as well.
Breakfast with baguette, homemade jam (strawberries with romarin f.ex.), muesli, yoghurt, a variety of fruit, juice, coffee, tea - nicely arranged on the wooden "breakfast" table.
The objects of art and surprising but well-chosen combinations of colours give the house an unforgettable and at the same time cosy atmosphere. A house not to be missed.

Coming from cold Switzerland we wanted to have some warmer days in the south of France. As we love the saturday Market of Apt we looked for a nice place to stay in the region. We were lucky to have found the "Chambres avec vue" as it was an excellent compensation to the surprisingly rather cold (even snowy) weather. We arrived and were warmly welcomed by Pierre, who showed as around in the fascinating house. Then we were placed in front of the fire in the 2nd living room, served some local wine and tapas. The other guests and the artists (musicians at the time) together with Pierre and Kamila filled the house with interesting stories and sounds. We had really wonderful breakfasts and enjoyed the garden as much as possible. We were staying in one of the appartements and it was worth the difference in the price (100Euro instead of 85Euro for the rooms), as we had plenty of place and intimacy when wanted.
Our advice:
Don't go there if you don't want to meet other people!

We had a great time in Chambre avec Vue, a very nice spot in the little vilage of Saignon. The welcoming atmosphere and the kindness of Kamila and Pierre made us feel at home, with cookies ready when we arrived back from our sightseeing, with sumptuous breakfasts and nice suggestions on what to visit. The house is incredibly full of pieces of art but at the same time is very cosy. Definitely a nice place to spend a few days.

We had high expectancies for Chambre Avec Vue. It turned out to be a disappointment: this hotel is nice to see in the art catalogs but awfully uncomfortable to spend more than 2 nights. 1) Rooms (we tried 2 of them) have no chairs to sit. 2) They have no shelves nor closets to leave a jacket or a night dress or a shirt. 3) There were four (literally, four) hangers for all our clothes to be hang from: after 2 days all our Tshirts and trousers were scattered on the floor of the room. 4) Showers have no curtains nor any support to leave them while you are washing yourself; you must hold the shower with one hand. In summary: you cannot take a comfortable shower. 5) Last but not the least: Our bathroom in front of the piano room did not have a lock. Since bathrooms are at the other side of the corridor (like all bathrooms of the 3 rooms) and anyone could get in, we asked for a door lock for some intimacy in the toilet. The owners adamantly refused to put one. We only liked the breakfast and the garden, wall-to-wall to the village’s cemetery, where we remained wondering why were we initially driven to this place. In short: a nice place in the pictures, but a lousy place to be at.
