“Lovely bay; shame about the hotel!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2010

A hotel that seemed to have been abandoned and left with a skeleton staff who had to rush around doing everything; only a few guests, restaurant shut, big cavernous reception area abandoned like the marie celeste! Lovely site facing out onto a beautiful bay, though a long way out of town which makes you reliant on rather limited menu provided at small beach-side bar in the evening.
Room we were provided with hadn't been cleaned and we had to ask for a transfer to another room.

My wife booked at this hotel after having explicitly searched/discussed/agreed which
rooms we would be staying (in relation to orientation/wind etc). Not only we did not stay
at the pre-agreed rooms, but we were given the worst rooms (in terms of orientation)...

Then again, not the whole of the room was renovated, the balcony had safety issues,
the a/c external units were all placed at the facade of the hotel (making noise and producing heat), the owner was not very accommodating... We wanted to leave but where to find 4 rooms for 5 days (commencing right on) in Greece during August?

Anyhow, the service is good, the breakfast quite good, the food ok, the pool nice...

they are advertising this as four star hotel. Be very careful as only half the hotel is four star and the other half is one star and exspensive. because of location taxis to gyhtio are very exspensive 20 euors per trip

This is a very old hotel which has partly been renovated recently.

The location is excellent, right on a beautiful beach. You can walk from the lobby to the beach in a minute or so.

Service is also excellent, the food is acceptable for a few times, but the area is full with better tavernas.

If you are booked in one of the non-renovated rooms, it is a disaster. I assume that some of the reviewers who have been dissapointed , stayed in one of the old rooms,
The renovated rooms are OK, with a few notes:

1) Airconditioning is achieved by a standard split system and the external unit is right on the balcony. This way if one guest wants to sleep and the other wants to stay on the balcony, turning on the A/C means that the balcony guy will be sweating becayse the A/C unit puts out a lot of heat. I felt like I was in the engine room of a ship!
Thes units are loud too.
2) The balcony was very small, so when the guests in the rooms our our sides left the A/C on all night long, this meant we could not use our balcony because of the generated heat and noise.
3) The bathroom was not ventilated in any way so we had to leave the door open to the room all the time.

Apart from the above comments, very good choice for familie with kids , senior citizens and generally guests who want to just take it easy for a few days.

One of my friend was married and they book us in this hotel. We pay 80 euro for a triple room. When i open my room door i was surprised bad... it was the worst room i ever stay. The sockets was out of their position. It was very very very old the Furniture. the bathroom was terrible.. both three friends we understood that we couldnt leave and sleep in this room. when i get down to reception and i complaint, they told me that there was full and they couldnt do anything... I told them that this room cannot exist, and i told them that i will phone to EOT. is the Greek Department of Goverment for Turism. they have only few rooms new.. and the other its very very bad... Avoid this hotel Immediately..

What a disaster!

Beautiful location, but the hotel was a nightmare. The views were great, but I feared the balcony would collapse under my 120 lbs.

This hotel stay was due to my hubby wanting drive around the Peloponesse and "take potluck". We ended up in the pot and with no luck!

Shame on Greece for allowing such hotels to still operate and charge crazy European prices. This hotel should have been closed down years ago!
