Visited Amalia between Christmas and New year eve. Stayed there for 3 nights. I will start with the positives. Staff is rated 5 stars. Very friendly and ready to assist you anytime. Breakfast is 4 stars. Really nice buffet. Rooms are spacious and clean. No problem there. The one big negative for me is smoking. You are being advertised in booking, trip advisor and your site as a non-smoking hotel throughout all close spaces. Though you have set the best hall area, with the fire place and the piano as smoking area. First of all this is against the law. Second the place is not even close. Smoke is floating around all the ground floor. I complained to the reception just to hear some lame excuses that the smokers are complaining. You have the law by your side. You can use it if you like. It is 2019 and we still are negotiating about smoking in close spaces. This is not a proper European standards hotel for me. Kids were playing all around and they had to breathe cigarette smoke. And we had to sit outside the piano bar area each night while the smokers were taking advantage of the best place of the main hall. That is unacceptable for me.

Dear valued Guest,

many thanks for writing a review for Amalia Hotel Kalambaka.

We are really sorry and apologize for this incident. You are absolutely right to complain about the smoke in the lobby and have taken all measures for this not to happen again. Unfortunately in Greece, there are still many smokers and during the holidays it seems thay ignored our request to only smoke outside. We are sorry this ruined your holiday and sincerely hope to have the pleasure to welcome you again at Amalia Hotel Kalambaka in the future and prove we are respecting our customers and the law.

Sincerely,

Argyris Daouliaris

This hotel is in a favorable position for visiting the monasteries of Meteora/Kalambaka. It is few kilometers out of Kalambaka, but it offers all the comfort necessary for family and kids, with an added bonus of a very quiet place.
Rooms are spacious for the European standards and quiet. Plenty of parking space. Nice bar with a fireplace and live piano playing. Breakfast is plentiful and with a nice variety of food. Staff is friendly and helpful.
On the negative side, the cleanliness of the bathroom was not good - found hair in the bathtub.

We stayed here on our way to the monasteries of Meteora and it was a treat indeed. This is a 4 star hotel and beautifully laid out with very spacious rooms, bathrooms and everything else. The hotel may need a little upgrade to bring it up to the high tech world; the internet is very slow and there are very few plug ins in the rooms.

Hotel is laid out really nice and the food ( we had buffet there for dinner and lunch) is really really high class with excellent choices. The hotel has a potential for being a top notch but I understand because it is not too populous there with visitors in winter months and it is the middle of nowhere: about a 15 min drive from all the monasteries. Overall....very impressed

We stayed at the Amalia Kalambaka while on a four day classical Greece tour. The tour company chose the hotel, but we had no issue with it. Service was great, the hotel beautiful and the rooms comfortable and clean. The buffet dinner and breakfast were both ok, with plenty of selection and deserts. The only downside of our stay is WiFi was almsot non-existant. Otherwise we would stay here again if in the area. The staff of the hotel were all just wonderful! Sevice was quick, and pleasent.
