While it might be tempting to stay at one of the few big, fancy hotels near Kalambaka, finding a a unique and comfortable spot can be so much better. The Theatro Hotel is located a short walk from the main part of town and you can easily access shopping, restaurants and museums.

It is definitely a special place that is welcoming, cozy, and very clean. Each room has a different theatre/film theme and is decorated to reflect the theme. We stayed in the Phantom of the Opera room, which was very spacious and had views of the rock structures.

A continental breakfast was served in the hotel dining room in the morning with a wide variety of foods. There was also a lunch/dinner menu if you want to dine in.

The last day in Kalambaka was apparently the worst snow storm since 1987, and after a long day of being cold and wet, I was able to come back to my room, lounge in a nice dry robe (provided by the hotel) and make a cup of coffee. Eventually, we made our way downstairs to play some board games/cards in the dining room and enjoyed frappes and cookies. After a while we ordered dinner, which was really yummy.

If you’re visiting the Meteora region, consider staying the night/s at this unique hotel.

Room: The room was not so spacious, just enough to open bags, but interestingly designed. Everything was clean, dry and hot, something you appreciate at a cold evening. The room was also equipped with a "handy smartphone" which was cool to see in such place. The bathroom was just as the room, not so huge but spacious enough. There were many containers with shower gel, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom was clean but the wall was a little damp damaged. Nor am I so fond of shower curtain. By the way, it wasn’t looking so clean.
Breakfast: Very good breakfast, with good variety and taste. There was also a wonderful view from the breakfast area.
Location: Close to Kalambaka center but still a bit outside. Close to restaurants. 5 min away from known Meteora monastries if you travel by car.
Personnel: My impression was above average. I was offered a welcome drink (which wasn’t mentioned, you shall not expect anything special but it was more about the gesture), the opportunity to choose the room. The ladies at the front desk and the breakfast buffet were smiling and nice. Very good experience.
Overall experience: It's a very good hotel, with interesting design, tasty breakfast and very good service. The bathroom and the room size draw a little down. Throw away the curtain from the bath. Not the best hotel I have been at but if you consider location, how many tourists they have and so on than it suddenly turns to be somewhere between 4/5 stars.
Price / What You Get: Reasonably priced.

We stayed here for 2 nights/3 days during our trip to Meteora. The rooms were very spacious and nicely decorated with balconies where you can get a view of the town. The stay included breakfast in the morning, with tons of baked goods, hot breakfast buffets. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, specially Dora. She was really wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed, including a tons of Christmas cookies. We had to check out in early morning hours to catch a train, she made sure we had breakfast to go. Thank you Dora.

Nice place to stay only a short walk to middle of town. We bought dessert back to hotel and sweet receptionist brought us plates, cutlery, water etc. So welcoming.
Like many hotels it could do with more hooks especially in bathroom for clothes/towels etc. Water pressure in shower a bit low and took a while to heat up, but again this is not uncommon.
Breakfast was nice with a good variety of food that varied daily. Coffee not so good but ok.
Overall a good experience. We booked through visitmeteora. Excellent tour.

We booked this hotel on expedia based on its high reviews and was impressed. We checked in late and had no difficulties finding parking at the hotel. The reception is 24/7 and check in was quick.

The location of the hotel was perfectly situated for us to explore all the monasteries. We stayed for 2 nights and was able to visit all the major manasteries and nunneries on a Saturday with plenty of time to spare.

What really set this hotel apart was its service. The daily breakfast was great and had a lot of selection including eggs, meats, breads, yogurt and all sorts of desserts. The coffee served was also excellent and was the perfect jump start to our long hiking day. The prices at this hotel are very reasonable. We bought 2 bottles of water from the hotel for 1 euro! I wish the room's minibar came with prices listed as we would have loved to support the hotel by spending more money there.

Overall, we had a lovely stay here and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay to visit Meteora.

Room tip: Ask for a room with mountain view. The hotel does not have elevators so pack light or ask for a ground floor room.
