“Hotel Eyvindara II just outside Eglisstadir”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

In a very quiet environment just outside Eglisstadir you will find the partly renewed hotel Eyvindara II. We stayed in a hotel room on the ground floor with a small seat outside. Very clean, sufficient space and a good bathroom. Kind and helpful personnel. Breakfast with a broad choice of products. Value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the ground floor. Sitting outside you will enjoy the view.

We stayed here for one night wile doing a tour around the 'ring road'. We had a room in the new section of the main building, and it was the most modern and 'hotel like' of all the places we stayed around Iceland. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the blinds/curtains blocked out the light well. There's no TV or radio in the room, but there is wifi. The restaurant was not open while we were there and there is no bar either.
The hot water here smelled slightly of sulphur, but was not too bad. Breakfast was pretty similar to other places we stayed. No hot option, but cereals breads cold meats and cheeses.

We stayed in the cabin. While the price was affordable, the infrastructure of the cabin itself was very simple.

It was just clean enough, beds felt dilapidated, and the breakfast was simple at best.

Honestly nothing wrong, but very average.

We loved the food here and the friendliness of the hosts. The room was simple but clean, nice view, enjoyed the glass art all around and the 2 folk songs and info from the son of the owner. All three courses for dinner were exquisite and tasty - hearty healthy home cooked Icelandic food - highly recommended.

A lovely warm welcome in a guesthouse whose rooms are hotel standard. ? By being a guesthouse they can give you lovely homecooked food, overall the best meal we had on our 6 day tour. Our host entertained us with a short selection of Folk songs and regaled us with some stories of local customs and events For the first time we found ouselves amid real trees, and after overnight snow, the whole scene outside was magical after a very welcoming. This is an excellent location for those travlling by air or on the ferry from Denmark..

This Guesthouse was horrible, our room was located right above the kitchen, it was very noisy in the late evening and the early morning. The rooms were tiny and there was only on chair in our room for two persons and one bathroom/shower/toilet facility for 4 rooms with two couples. Never ever again!

A brand-new upgraded facility (just opened in June), more like a small hotel with a nice view over the valley and totally easy to find by GPS. Small reception area, good sized dining area which would be enhanced if a corner were set up as a lounge.
Bed room with hardwood flooring, desk & chair, easy chair, chest with wardrobe and hangers – best equipped place thus far in Iceland.Spacious tiled bathroom with no-rim shower, ok shelf space and very good hardware, good wifi available but charge isk500, this is the only place that charged for wifi thus far. Regular breakfast spread, including herring with dark bread.
Buffet-style dinner is available at their restaurant in the nicely decked-out dining room, I enjoyed a creamy vegetable soup with home-made bread, organic green salad tossed with fresh vegetables, salad with ham, very tasty pan-fried salmon with new potatoes and fried raisins.
2 course isk4500 and a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc for isk4000 per bottle, which seems to be about mid-range in Iceland. Overall a quite pleasant experience.
